Title: ZCT 78 - Brain work
Post by: zaqrack on June 16, 2007, 07:41:02 PM
The track of august is almost ready.
It'll be a very interesting multi-way track, where way switching is forbidden, and there are alltogether 24 way combinations to choose from. Details available later :)

Am I the only one beng interested in the results? Deadline was 132 hours ago... (even more than my biggest delay to a manually edited site)

I think we all are, but we all understand that Zak is just coming back from a one week holidays and need a few hours to rest. According my time for Z78, it has no real interest to put it here as I'm far from current leading time in scoreboard... ::)

Few hours? Holidays? Did I miss someting or you are just guessing? Zak spent almost the whole day in the Forum and MSN two days ago without making the update.

Oh, I missed that one. OK then, motivation is the "key" word in these sentences to explain lack of update.

I think a championship manager can't afford to leave out the update for a week just because he's undermotivated. Especially if his site works almost automatically (20 minutes? Maybe less?). My site is totally manual, the full procedure is about 2-3 hours (with analysis, stats, WRL, full update, moving news to archives, etc). The biggest delay was about 100 hours but I spent most of this time away from internet, usually update is done 1-24 hours after deadline.

I always wanted to win a competition but I could never do it (maybe I'm the only regular top driver having no titles in the pocket, Argammon races only sometimes) - that's why I'm so nervous about this delay. Situation is clear:

If I earn at least 13 point from ZCT 78, then I'm going to have 109 pts in overall. Even if Mark wins this track, he will have 91 pts and he can earn only 15+2 on ZCT 79. If I'm on podium then golden medal is sure. Of course 1 Mark 2 X 3 Y 3+whatever CTG is the most likely due to my bad luck and paranoia but maybe not...

X= Alain & Co. or Argammon or Zak

Sometimes beeing a regular driver (not top one) is sufficient to earn a title.
I won StuntsLOL 2002, StuntsLOL 2003 and HOTU 2003 like that.
JTK won Rough Ride contest in 1999 this way too.

Congrats CTG, you're already champion it seems. ;) I told you that you didn't have to be parano?d.
Too bad for Mark, only 0.05 second behind ! :o

And too bad that number of drivers is still so short, this brain work track would have deserved more pipsqueaks... :-\

Congratulations to CTG for his win and to Duplode for his first podium at ZakStunts.
About me, I'm very satisfied for my result.  :) With a big care since the beginning for leading time and a very big interesting for the final result, CTG showed all his motivation for this race (even if maybe he will succeed to find some reasons to justify his tight victory...  ;)). Minding he raced whit his favourite car too, I'm really, really satisfied to have a so small gap.

First of all, congratulations for winning Zakstunts CTG. I hope I can say this even though I did not take part in this competition  ;D.

Of course there were no big names in the competition as Mark has already stated. But nonetheless, CTG was clearly the strongest driver in this years Zakstunts competition. So kudos from me  :).
Now there is another driver who has achieved what I never did and probably never will! Tough luck Argy!  ;)

About the feeling that racing is more about work than fun. I know this feeling. In my hard battles against Alain I had exactly this feeling. And it was always to stressing for me to race a whole season this way. So no title... Again tough luck ;-)
I don't want to take anything away from my opponents in USC but this season I am driving more relaxed and not pushing to hard anymore. If I win, very good. If I finish 5th I'll hopefully take the Krys Toff attitude  ;D.... So if I can keep up my attitude about racing I might be able to race more consecutive races than I did ever before :-)....

I know this "relaxed" way of racing is hard for someone like you, CTG. As I have the feeling you always want to compete in everything you do. Whether this is forum posts, or some silly reaction time or alphabet internet game or success in a phd program or or or :-). Anyways, I think you have the talent to get decent results racing in a relaxed way. So maybe you can do it?

Again congratulations!

Just a curiosity, CTG, being not yet published the replays.
What was your colours/ways combination?
Mine was: Blue (1), Green (2), Red (3), Black (4)... I wonder if you chose another one...   ::)

Oh I never watched colors. But I had a way switching.

Shall I make it in video form? :)

I had about Duplode's time without way switching but I always felt my replay is not maxed out.

Why not? I've just sent you my Z78's final replay. If you want you could publish both at YouTube...  :)

Best solution would be a divided screen but I have no software for it. By the way your replay impressed me very much, you did both small tricks I missed. I knew they are possible but didn't suffer with them waiting for the luck (second one was completed by me too, but it wasn't very familiar wth the way switching version) - my only big advantage was the way switching.

Alas, I also did Blue, Green, Red (swithcing into Blue) and Black. Either I lost too much speed on entrance and exit of Black or you managed to keep ~170mph while entering Red. The split screen video would be very cool  8).

I tested blue-green-red-black and found that blue-black-red-green faster. But my replay is far from optimized.

The problem with the damn black sections was they broke so much lap fluency. That's why I had to put it at the end...
