Blimey! team, creators of GTR, GTR 2 and GT Legends games, will offer next tuesday (11th of september then) a FREE game named BMW M3 Challenge to celebrate the new BMW M3 real car available at your local BMW sailor.
This game will look more like a demo than a real game IMO because you'll be able to race only BMW M3 cars and only at 1 track : Nurburgring.
Anyway, this game will have a feature that is often absent in demos : online play.
Around 530 Mb to download, I'll give you a link next tuesday.

* Pentium IV 1,8 GHz or equivalent
* 512 Mb RAM
* 500 Mb disk space

P.S. My trick: my parents bought back in 1993 a BMW 320i e36. We still have that old black peace of bavarian art. After 8 years of driving it I can melt with the machine and squeeze out best performances of an BMW 3series ;D
My computer is way too slow to run this game (Pentium IV, 1300 MHz, 256 MB RAM). :(
But wow, BMW site is fast (download: 57 seconds).
Pffffff it works with the lowest settings and with 2-10 frames/second due to the car's position (less frames in corners or when car is sliding a bit). Under these conditions: 2:33.5xx from 7 laps.

After disinstallation and re-installation the thing is the same. The game crashed exactly in the middle of loading after I choose a whatever choice (TIME TRIAL, PRACTICE, etc...).
I've WinXP SP2 and no similar problems with other games... Any idea?

It sucks when you have 5-10 frames per second, it really influences the lap times. And it's no fun anymore.
But I found out how to get about 5 seconds per lap - the BMW is set up with the standard suspension (car options). You have to disable that suspension and enable another one (some name, should be a sponsor of the game). Better handling, braking and especially start. So I made quite easily 2:20.xxx, but with smooth good graphics.
I drove some laps and with bilstein suspension my beemer's about 2-3 seconds faster, so I improved:
2:16.689
It's still far from perfect, 2:14 should be possible with my notebook's keyboard. With the wheel I don't have even 2:12...
Chulk, do you play the M3 Challenge?

Oh, I never published my best time here.
I don't rememeber exactly my best, but it's something like 1'22"xx or so. Frame rate is not very good, my graphic card is not a top one (GeForce 6100). I should decrease the graphic level (I let the default one, which is set to "high") and try again.
Krys, that's actually pretty good graphics compared to mine. I play with the apsolute minimum graphic level without shadows and everything. Frames are for the game play much more important than high detail level etc. Select the Bilstein Suspension and you'll improve :)

Do you use keyboard or force-feedback steering wheel for this game?
I use keyboard and car slides as hell!
I didn't raced again, but for info I played it with analog gamepad, handling is much better than keyboard.
Too bad I don't have a force-feedback driving wheel...
I only have a non-force feedback which I havent used in 3 years or so :(

Woohooo I did 2:15 time!!
I recommend TC level 1, Bilstein suspension, ABS on. But it's hard like hell to go under 2:15 with keyboard. I visited the M3 challenge forum. There are also lots of freaks with momo racing wheels, even installed racing seat, big screens, dolby surround etc... Nothing for "normal people" like us, but some of them manage to do 2:10 laps!!! Of course, with the wheel and the equipment you can improve about 2-3 seconds, but there's still place to improve for us (2:13lap with keyboard maybe...)

You use the outside part of the track, is that valid? I thought the game penalized...
Using the outside part on 2nd corner only, I did 2:18.553.
I'll try Krys T?ff's advice and race with a simil PS keypad. Maybe that can help.

Agressive driving, but it obviously proves that a better time can be done due to some little mistakes we can see on this replay.
One info : personnally I drive with driver view, not outside view.
After seeing this replay I'm going to improve my shitty time with some new settings. Driving line seems to be familiar from F1 2002. :D
Yeah, the lap can be maximized under 2:13.
About the outside line in the 2nd corner, I can assure that this line is not faster than the line inside the track. It's a little bit quicker but also a little more longer. It was just my mistake, I accelerated to soon. Anyway it looks cool :)
In time trial you get penalty (the lap doesn't count) only if you shortcut the track. The 2nd corner was more like a "long cut" so it's legal, the lap time continued. But be careful with shortcutting the first corner or the chicane at the end!
I also drive with the camera where you can see only the front part of the car. The replay just shows more information with this outside camera. (I think the outside camera gives you much less information about your driving than the on board camera.
P.S. Chulk, that's a good time, keep improving! And CTG, Krys, c'mon! :)
I ment while driving, use the on board - it gives you more information about the car, steering, handling etc.
While lookong a replay, better the outside view - you get more information about the ideal line, the brake points etc.
