Title: looking for new drivers in South America
Post by: Danopelayos on December 01, 2007, 03:18:15 AM
Hi! i'm been playing stunts for over 13 years.. it's amazing to know how many people still play this game. JTK, I beat many of your laptimes, but I dont know where to send the replays.

I'm looking for new drivers in south america, so we can beat our laptimes and compete against europe. It would be nice an intercontinental stunts cup.

That's all...

Welcome Danopelayos. :)
check the Stunts portal (http://stunts.mine.nu) and you'll see different competitions available.
Most pipsqueaks are from Europe and ibero-America, mainly Argentina and Brazil.
Let's hope you'll join the competitions with us and you'll see that beating JTK's times is just the 1st step of the stairs, but the way to the top will be long and difficult. :)

You'll be glad, Danopelayos, to find out we South Americans have a rich tradition in this community, perhaps more strikingly by our Argentinian fellows over the border... be sure to pay a visit to WSC (page (http://wsc.ar.nu) and forum (http://fsa.ar.nu)). And of course, welcome!

And we are better at both!  :D

Oh, and it's football.  ;)

And just like in football, Argentina and Brazil are clearly the best South American nations. In Europe, we are just missing some talent from Spain (since CAP) and England.

But Germany and Italy are the best in history of football, I guess it's Hungary and Denmark in Stunts.

Nope, Argentina is far the best in stats, followed by Hungary, Denmark and Brasil... :)

Chulk meant Europe only and not worldwide, thus skipping Argentina. Just like he skipped Brazil when citing Germany and Italy...  ;D

Yes, that is a bit misleading, but at least there have been highly talented drivers from three great football nations: France, Germany and Italy. So only Spain (since CAP) and England are missing from the five greatest European football nations.

I'm not doing justice to The Netherlands... But they also had Roy and Ben in the old days.

The historical lack of anglophone pipsqueaks leads to an interesting question: When a pipsqueak from the British Isles joins, will he be inscribed under the Great Britain flag or under England/Scotland/etc. ?

I would inscribe him according to his Nationality (English...) because I don't think Great Britain can be considered as and independant country. Think about sports, they are not Great Britain, they are England, Scotland, Wales, North Ireland.

Spain is one of the greatest? I give you England, they are World Champions (luckily they played at home or else they would still be waiting for it ;D), but Spain? I think it has a couple of Euro but that's it, Denmark and Greece are close to them in titles, right?

And don't forget us! Present results are not the only thing which counts...

    * Olympic Champions
          o 1952
    * Central European International Cup
          o 1948/53
    * World Cup
          o Runners-up 1954

Even more for against Spain! Don't get me wrong, I like them, but I don't think they can be consider one of football greats.

It's strange... They are the European champions after all, and their league is the strongest in Europe maybe after Premier League.
They've been consistently strong for as long as I remember. Admittedly they have never won a world championship, so if that's the criterion for inclusion in the league of great football nations, that league consists of Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Italy, England and France.

I don't think the criteria is being World Champion, but being consistently one of the favourite teams to win a competition. When Euro is about to start, and you think about candidates to win it, Germany, Italy, England and France (in a lesser way) are always there, while Spain, Portugal or some others have their good years, but that's not enough. Portugal is considered to have a great team today, but still they sucked in last Euro and it had been a while since they had their last good team. Also Denmark was Euro champ back on Laudrup's time, but then they fail to build a good team, Greece was Euro champ and we know they're no dream-team. Hungary was one of the greatest back in the 50's but they couldn't keep that status over the years.
Same in SA, when Copa America is being played, you have 2 all-time candidates (Argentina and Brazil, obviously) and then a 3rd and 4th team depending on the year. Uruguay was 3rd team a few years ago, now it's Paraguay, it was Colombia in the middle 90's (when Rincon, Asprilla, Valderrama, Valencia where playing). Uruguay case is like Hungary's (with 2 World cup's, I know) but they failed to keep their status over the years, going to last World Cups only because of Argentina's generosity in last round of the Quali.
In my opinion, there are only 5 great football teams, in order: Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina and England. France could be there but they are not that consistent...

I don'ty think England is more consistent than France. Argentina, Brazil, Germany and Italy are the all-time top 4 since football's WC was created. Spain, England or France are one level down.

The last four decades are sufficient to put Netherlands at least par with Spain, though. That suggests France and England are probably a step above both (still below the top 4).

You're (all of you) right. So... Argentina-Brazil-Italy-Germany - GAP - England-France - GAP - Netherlands-Spain.
