Title: FTT0108
Post by: Mark L. Rivers on September 29, 2008, 04:34:43 PM

I've just seen the track with TB: WOW!  :o :o :o 8)
I think it will be an adrenalic and funny race, one of the best of this year! I'm too eager to go down on the track!  :) :)

And after a little session on the track, I absolutely confirm what I wrote!  ;)
Well done, Krys!  :)

Thanks. I find it suitable for the Jaguar, indeed. ;)

I've just glaned at it. Racing will come tomorrow or on Wednesday as I'm finishing a paper for University (about the changing economics around the world and the Chinesse boom). Mark's saying seems accurate, I'll confirm after I race it.

Seguramente no!!! ???

I'll race on the weekend and send a time next week.

Finally another driver on the track after AbuRaf70 and me...
Instead, extreme hiding for Duplode...  ;)

Just an auto-gears replay from me, and shortcuts finding experiments. "Real" time expected for this week-end. ;)

Not hiding, rather taking a bit of a break :) In a way, it was very convenient to me that so many contests had deadline delays at the same time in late September, I'd have had trouble to keep up with all the hard racing otherwise. Anyway, I raced #08 for the first time yesterday, and it's a very good design - it illustrates very well how to make a hard track with seemingly simple combos. Opening time is uploaded... it's likely I won't race very intensively until the final week (by then my motivation will hopefully be back to usual levels and I won't have to worry about Montreal anymore).

If I remember right, password is not cripted in FTT due to PHP coding problem... So you have only to ask Krys to communicate you your password. Then you will able to publish your time on FTT site...

Well, my password wasn't really regular. ;D

I used auto gears - so I guess winning time will be under 1:10.

Well, with this large pool of drivers (6, at the moment), Duplode could close here the fight for the title... or I could rescue a lot of points....  ;)   Anyway, the duel for the championship could easily become an excuse for someone in order of a not so good time... It will be enough for him saying that he didn't want to affect the final result...  ;)

I do want to affect the final result, the thing is I'm not really decided in which way because...

* Duplode stole important points from me in 2nd season of SDR and I lost the title to Mark, so I would like to pay him back, but...

* That would give Mark his 2nd title, so I think I prefer each of us has 1 title, so...

I'll give my best and will let you decide!  ;)

Ouch, I was busted!  :-X I only got to do my shots yesterday very late in the night - while waiting for the GP to start, and by then I (foolishly? arrogantly?) underestimated the importance of the loopcut, thus preferring to spend my time and energy improving on the other sections of the track. Several minutes later, when I realized a decent cut would save me at least 2 seconds, it was way too late for me to find a reliable way to pull it off... Anyway, congratulations to Mark (OMG, the gap is halved!! :o) and Chulk - analysis of this one will be very interesting  ;)

Website updated, congrats Mark. Only 4 points between Duplode (still leader) and Mark. The finish of this championship will be hard.
As for the loopcut, well, I did it but it was really not enough, you guys were damn fast ! :o

Thanks Duplode for your congratulations!  :)  And congratulations also to Chulk for his very strong time!   :)
I had hoped to rescue more than 2 points in this race, but it was a remote hope...  Anyway the things have not changed a lot... I still have to arrive ahead Duplode in next 3 races, even if I'm not obliged to win all races...    ;)
And now I'm waiting that Krys introduce a bonus point having kept alive the fight and the interest for the season one more time...  :D

Just an anticipation about my replay: I never made a lap trying to cut the loop...  ;)

Thanks for the congrats. I'm a bit sad to see I could have won if it hadn't been for 2 stupid mistakes... I had a 1:08.10  last night but I missed to hit F5 so it wasn't saved, and 2 or 3 laps later, I had a potential 1:07.XX but hit the last tunnel when trying to skid and avoid penalty time (I only hit it the first few tries besides that one...) Anyway, nice result for me, especially considering how the season went for me, and now, I hope to win with Corvette, or at least to have a nice time again.

Well, I'm not the FIA. :P I won't give penalities to others (to give you a bonus) to try to keep the championship interesting like FIA did more than often in this season (like the unjustified penalty to Bourdais in Japan to give 1 more point to Massa, or the penalty to Hamilton at Spa).

Website updated with the replays in download section.
It seems I'm the only one who cut the loop to the left while Chulk was the only one cutting the loop on the inside.
I'm curious to see the analysis, Mark seems slow from the loop to the jump before the cut along the tunnel.
Title: Re: FTT0108
Post by: Duplode on November 03, 2008, 09:14:28 PM
Let me guess: Chulk must have saved 2 - 2.5 seconds with the loopcut, but Mark surpassed that with a near-perfect line from the initial hill to the short pipe section, maybe helped by exceptionally high speed through the elevated corner. As I did none of these things, I lost... :D

Analysis is bit different respect you thought, Duplode. I saw that cutting the loop was not so adventageous if the cut was not really perfect (Krys almost did it...  ;)). Speed loss due to touch the grass canceled a big part of saved time, and in fact Krys saved almost 2 seconds but losing a lot in the subsequent tract (only partially due to be arrived too long before to turn on the last ramp). Chulk's careful cut saved on me only 1 second (arriving to overtake me overall for only 0,20 seconds on top of the hill). It can seem that Chulk has lost the race arriving too long (like Krys but a bit less) before the last ramp, but I'm not sure about. He rescued 0,40 seconds in the last tract, but due to a higher speed than me, just having approach the last ramp by a longer previous tract on the asphalt, just being arrived long cutting the tunnel after the bankroad. If he wasn't arrived long, probably he wouldn't rescue the 0,40 seconds, due to a lower final speed... In stead, Duplode was really close to the top until Intermediate 5, but due to a bad choice ( half bankroad on the asphalt and half on the grass) and a very big mistake (he almost stopped his car to insert it on the last ramp), he has lost about 2 seconds only between 5th and 6th Intermediate. Finally, great final section for AbuRaf70 (4th time ahead CTG and Krys)!  :)
