This new race will start in a few hours, you'll race it with the Corvette. ;)

OK, I must not panic now - 4 points is still a manageable gap, and after Rijad I finally learnt to drive the Corvette adequately... ::)

(err... *shivers* [insert anxious-looking smiley])

You have a manageable lead, but now it just isn't enough for you to be right behind Mark to win the title, you'll have to beat him once at least...

Instead I have to learn quickly how Corvette has to manage: I only race with it about 2 years ago in a USC race...  ::)  Beside this, I really hate this car, so the championship will be close here, I think...  :-\  Anyway... let me try one more time...  ;)

First exit on the track and first impression: if this combination car-track for a NORH race was my choice, it could be say that we were ahead to the biggest harakiri of the history...
I'm not joking when I say that I'm sure it will be my worst NORH race of my career...

I'm sure about only one thing: by the end of the race the final combo will have reached a very high position within the "legendary infamous hated track sections" ranking... :o :D

I don't know what the problem is, but even if I see FTT0109 picture, I download FT0108 when I cleck on it. I've tried erasing cookies, history, off-line saved files, but still I get FTT0108. Can someone tell me what's wrong or upload the track to this topic so I can race?

Quite weird, how can this happen while I replaced the "active_track.zip" file by the new one that contains the 9th track ?!
Anyway, here is the track attached.

Title: Re: FTT0109

I did some tests, and for weird reason I don't understand. Obviously, it seems there's an issue with the dates.
On time sumission form, time is displayed properly, but when I check the timestamps of deadline time (19H00 the 9th of November) and the one of the current time from the servor, there's a weird thing : timestamp of now is 6 days after deadline !!! :o ???
How can this be ?
If the servor's time has been increased by 6 days, then today's date and time would not be properly displayed on time submission form. But if servor's time is correct, why in Hell the time checking (to compare current timestamp with deadline's timestamp) is wrong ?!
Zak, any idea maybe ?

Oh Krys, I'm sorry - I have just screwed up the scoreboard a bit by posting a blank time just to see what would happen... (I thought either the submission would fail or I would see the deadline bug) Anyway, isn't it odd that my input actually was registered despite the issues CTG is having? ???

Edit: it seems the system (or you?) purged the blank entry - but the strangeness still holds...
Title: Re: FTT0109
Post by: Krys TOFF on November 06, 2008, 10:30:02 PM
It seems I found the issue : I wrote
mktime(19,0,0,11,09,2008)
and when I write
mktime(19,0,0,11,9,2008)
the issue seems to disappear. :)

But, I still don't understand why the issue happened suddenly and why writing 09 instead of 9 makes a 6 days difference ?! Php is weird sometimes. :D

Please try again to post yout time CTG.

You posted this blank time just when I corrected the "09 instead of 9 bug". I saw it and deleted it from the DB immediately, thinking that CTG was still trying to post a time. :D

Oh, and I also changed the "look" of time submission form in English version of the website. Do you like it ?

The issue with leading zeroes immediately reminded me reminded me of octal numbers...

Quote from: http://br.php.net/manual/en/language.types.integer.phpSyntax

Integers can be specified in decimal (base 10), hexadecimal (base 16), or octal (base 8 ) notation, optionally preceded by a sign (- or +).

To use octal notation, precede the number with a 0 (zero). To use hexadecimal notation precede the number with 0x.

(...)

Warning

If an invalid digit is given in an octal integer (i.e. 8 or 9), the rest of the number is ignored.

Example #2 Octal weirdness
<?php
var_dump(01090); // 010 octal = 8 decimal
?>

...and it seems indeed to be the case. :)

When I was 16 year old, I studied differential equations during my high school. I learnt that this kind of equations were able to calculate with absolute precision whatever movement, motion, action, system in order of the variables indicated. They can really determine the path of every body in motion in the universe. But sure they have a limit. They can't determinate how a Corvette has to be vectored to jump on several bankroads in FTT0109 in order to avoid a nervous crisis....

That leads to interesting reflections. Stunts must be something closer to a chaotic system, in which the differential equations governing the events are of such nature that the evolution of the system is extremely sensitive to initial conditions...

You don't have to send the replay and video proof before the deadline.
On the opposite, I ask in the rule that you should send it after the deadline, to be sure that I don't cheat and use other pipsqueak's shortcuts that I may have not found.
Best is to send the replay and video in the week that follow the deadline. ;)

Well Mark, I think it's hard to make any of my words sound genuine at this point - but believe me when I say your performance here was fully credible, and you've displayed as tenacious opposition as ever - above all in a track you hated so much. In fact, looking at my intermediate times, this was a centisecond war up to my last lap (not racing session, but literally the very last lap) in late Friday evening...

Thanks for your words, Duplode, and congratulations for your win in this race putting also strongly your hands on the title. (Sorry for the missed "smile" but it wouldn't be congruent with my current mood...). Anyway, As you can understand, your genuine (I have not reasons to think something different, worry not) words can't cancel a big unsatisfation that comes from two main causes.

1) I realized my time last 24th October, after my second session on the track. I knew it should be a good time, but I knew it wouldn't have been enough. When I realized it, I've not already perfectioned the first part of the track, and I arrived at the final bankroad tract almost at 60 seconds. After that trial, I arrived a lot of times (really more than a lot of times, 20, 30, more...) almost at 56 seconds, failing then the final cut. Frustrating.

2) Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that your time has been possible thanks to a well-guessed cut in the final part after a very fast first part. (I don't think you used PG, and I don't think for other "inventions" in the middle of the track). Well, I would be sure more content if I had lost the title in a more conventional track, where the main element in order to win was not a tract wherewith the ability was only a component in order to reach a good performance. I'm not saying that you won't deserve the win in this race. You deserve it, your time say it. But I don't think to say something stupid when I say that I wanted to defend my last possibilities against you in a "more linear race".

OK, let me metabolize my loss, before other comments...

Well, sorry if you feel sad but I didn't design this track to let you loose, nor to let Duplode win.
To be honest, I don't think the last cut possibilities were so difficult, thing was to slow down the car a few before the cut, and land without turning or else the car would slide.
Once you know that, well, it's not so hard. Main thing is to try to avoid loosing speed on the grass and the hill, which I failed to do personnally.
Anyway, your time is really fast Mark. According to the fact that it was not your best car and it was not a track you liked, well, you did more than enough to prove your speed.

Also, I consider that JacStunts has enough "linear" flat tracks (like the current one that ends tomorrow, almost an Otto's track) and I tend to create tracks with jump possibilities. :)

I'm curious to see the replays now. Who cut very left and through the loop ? Who cut by the right of the loop (like I did personnally) ? Who stayed on the road (that is possible, my 1'17"xx time was done with racing the last elevated corner) ?
Answer when I'll get all the replays. ;)

I never thought this.

I obviously didn't mean the cut was almost impossible. But, as you know having seen a lot of replays realized in the fight for the title, the level of the challenge was not set "come on, let's try to lose less time as possible..." but always set in order to realize almost extreme performances. Without that kind of performances, nobody won in the past. What I want to say, is that the winner wouldn't have been a driver that simply cut on the left saving time as more as possible. The winner could only be a driver who would have guessed an almost perfect cut, that is what I realized only one time in three weeks, that is, if I understood well, what Duplode has not realized many other times more than me. Maybe Duplode's replay will controvert me, but in this moment I think so.

Who stayed on the road?
I did. I tried to cut many times but always got slower times than going the "linear" way. It's also true I did that time with my best cut at small corners, so after that, even I tried both cuts, I was always slower.

I also stayed on the road in my 1:14.20

Still missing Chulk's replay to do the update and delete CTG's time and correct points (are you really sure your video and replay are lost, or do you just want me to remove your time because you find it too slow CTG ? :P)

I liked the track+car, 1:17.00 was a weak time even from me. ;D

(no replay, no video)

OK then, I'll delete your time from the scoreboard and adjust the points earned. But after I'll get the replay and video from Chulk, which are still missing... Chulk ? When can I expect them ?

It had nothing to do with that! She just tried to jump on me from the top of the wardrobe and miscalculated...

Not so much time for computer this week-end, so I didn't updated the season points + the scoreboard of FTT0109 + verify Chulk's replay + update the stats page with new data (medal tables) + ...
