Title: Stunts HQ relocation
Post by: zaqrack on December 04, 2010, 01:51:29 PM
Hi All,

big changes are coming... in February 2011 I will move to Shanghai, China with Andi + Barnabás. I was offered the challenge and opportunity to help our company start a China branch office as the operations manager. And I accepted. :) We will sign a one year contract, after that we can reassess whether we would like to spend more time far from our home.

I will keep Zakstunts and stunts.hu running on the same server in Hungary. At the current fee of 4EUR/month it is affordable and I would not like to spend time on moving the site...
I am sure I will also have time to prepare the 2011 season during the winter holidays end of this year. But I am also sure I will be totally busy and probably unable to dedicate any time for the site during January and February (and perhaps March), as there is a lot to be arranged before we go and after we arrive.

I see the following options regarding ZakStunts:

1. Prepare the site for 2011, but postpone the season start when we have relocated and settled in a bit (March or April)
2. Start as planned with the 1st of January and have a break after the first track.
3. Start as planned and hope for the best, that I will be able to do the required updates.

I feel bad enough already due to the very little time I was able to dedicate for the site in the past months - I would rather prefer option 1, than a soulless and manager-less competition in the first months of 2011.

What do you think?

Nice to hear your Sinic explorations and efforts remain useful  :)

As for ZakStunts, I will support option 1; however we (that is, the potential competition managers other than Zak) must keep the community active until you are able to return. A series of ZakStunts-sponsored pre-season special events managed by multiple people might do it... I will be a bit too busy until the 10th of January or so, but can plan something of that sort for late January or February.

that would be ideal, and of course fully supported from my side.

another option would be to have someone trained to administrate zakstunts - this would secure an active managership even if I will be busy.
But I would love to see other competitions too, so please go on! :)

Good luck in China! :)

I suppose that i can help you with the web. I'm a PHP programer.
What's the work to do exactly?
To put the results and stadistics into web?, Read the replays?
???

There is some content manager?

Wow :) it really happened. Congratulations. Of course it will be strange and a bit hard in the beginning to be so far away, but it's a great opportunity and a great place. I'm fine with all options and looking very much forward to hearing about what happens to you in China. If you'll have time to write some of it down somewhere :)

I decided to start the 2011 season in March. This guarantees that every pipsqueak can dedicate the required and deserved attention to ISM2011.

A warm-up race in February with special rules may take place. Starting March, ZakStunts will be running as usual, and will have 10 tracks through the 2011 season. - the "two worst results does not count" rule still applies.

And so that the first race of 2011 season will be held exactly ten years after ZCT001...  8)

Will you name it ZCTP4 if it happens?  :)

I will be a bit too busy until the 10th of January or so, but can plan something of that sort [a special event] for late January or February.

Unfortunately chances are it's not gonna happen  :( The troubles with my computer screwed up the plans of working on the Southern Cross website, and I will be busier than I thought next month...
