Title: Best track of ZakStunts (semi-finals)
Post by: CTG on November 03, 2011, 11:59:47 AM
I wonder why don't we have a topic like this...

First round: season 2001. The best track from each year will qualify to the finals. You have one week to dig up the tracks, try them or watch the replays - and decide.

Deadline of the first round: 10th November 2011, midnight.

I only remember them vaguely, but I think ZCT3 and ZCT4 were a lot fun. The best race was on ZCT6, although I was not part of it. But I voted for ZCT7 because we had that as a retro track in 2006 and it was great fun then.

We looked at the tracks in a totally different way back then, before ZCT16. We didn't think "what is the perfect way? How can I lose as little as possible time compared to that?", we just thought "what is a good way to drive this part of the track", and then if it looked fine enough, we kept it. Advanced replay handling was not public, so many of us, myself included, were saving and loading replays all the time, which made replay handling more difficult and time consuming, and some tricks probably impossible.

I think ZCT14 was the best, because of the many tricks you could do. ZCT20 was the second best. A great, long Indy power gear track with a lot of atmosphere. I can still remember how it felt to be inside that track.

ZCT16 was called Rush Hour because Zak put it together in 10 minutes :-)

I guess most of the pipsqueaks who were racing in 2002 are not here. And those who were here, are just forgetting the magic of ZCT 16 track.

In 2002, ZCT 14 was only the third best track (ZCT 17 was better, too). But among 2004 tracks, ZCT 41 (=ZCT 14 without any change) may have a better chance for my vote (my own track, ZCT 46 can only rival with it). Not because of my result, but because the lower amount of good tracks.

As for 2004, I'm a fan of 36, 39, 41, 42, 46. But we'll get to that...

ZCT16 was a great race, certainly, although it had a bad end for me, but the track itself wasn't that great in my opinion. ZCT20 was far better, and 18 too. Actually ZCT18 was quite an interesting track, in a difficult car.

I enjoyed the most zct14, it was my first track and I did interesting stunts. Zct16 was my perfect lap/stunts, but i didn't participate in the month battle, I just appeared at the end.

ZCT21 without a doubt, though this year had the most good tracks: ZCT 22, ZCT 26, ZCT 28 were decent as well.

There were bad tracks, too: ZCT 23 was lame, ZCT 30 was too uncharacteristic, ZCT 32 was simply awful.

And one of the most tricky tracks ever should also be mentioned: ZCT 29 it is.

Btw this was the year which was taken the most seriously by me - I still consider this season to be the best and the strongest in general as well.

Title: Re: Best track of ZakStunts

Somehow I don't think of ZCT21 as very interesting. It was a short track, and most of it was very straightforward. ZCT22, however, was a really great track with lots of tricks, and the top-4 finish was legendary.
I suppose I'm voting partly based on how well I did on the tracks, especially as there are some tracks I just don't remember because I only raced very little on them, such as ZCT26-27-28. Number 29 was a legendary race as well, and I think 32 and 33 were really good races also, but I have to vote for #22, definitely.

ZCT 22 +   2 (33.3%)
ZCT 22 ++   2 (33.3%)

ZCT 22 is in the final.

Season 2004, two weeks to vote ;)

2005... :)

Quite high quality of tracks, but I can't nominate a single one as superior. Some nice tricks of this season are still in my memories. My vote goes to ZCT 48, it was really suitable for Jaguar  - I enjoyed it very-very much (even if I said the opposite in 2005).

I also voted for 48. Nearly voted for Leo Ramone's Z56... Number 48 was challenging and varied, as far as I remember. I spent three hours racing it in Lise's house on the last day of the month and it was enough for 2nd place one second after you.

ZCT 48 - God of Mountains (Jaguar XJR IMSA) 3 (50%)

Tracks of season 2006 are next. My choice is - how obvious - Oligoway. The full lap is still in my head - just like ZCT 14. If ZCT 61 qualifies to the final, it will be damned hard for me to choose between these two tracks.
Title: Re: Best track of ZakStunts
Post by: BonzaiJoe on July 25, 2012, 12:04:48 PM
Definitely ZCT59, which will probably also get my vote in the final. Perhaps the strongest ever Zakstunts race, together with the next one on ZCT60. As a former champion and many times track winner, I was proud of my 4th place on ZCT59 and 6th place on ZCT60.
#59 was a real challenging track with lots of trickery, but not annoying - no bugs required. I also remember the noRH competition we had on this track. Great track for noRH.

About Oligoway: too much way-switching and a ridiculous winning replay based on magic carpets instead of driving skills.

2007, the crappiest season so far. Independently from my trash title, I enjoyed some parts of this season very much, having great battles against Chulk and Rivers. The choice is quite hard between Bad Workforce, Offroad and Brainwork. The first one was the best race (LT changed 22 times in the last 10 days!), the second stayed in my mind as an extremely mad track, while the last one... well... tight match versus MLR, different tactics and minimal advantage at the end. Default is not the best track for sure (I guess many of you will vote on that).

"Bad workforce" was by far the best race. And I really liked the idea of a pit stop. I also liked "Off-road" a lot, but I was definitely at my peak of motivation in "Bad Workforce". That only happens when I like a track - car combo A LOT!
Obviously "Default" meant a lot to me. Finishing 3rd in the one race everybody wanted to win was kind of like a proof I can be up there with the greatest.

ZCT72: was quite nice I guess. But then my arms broke down.
ZCT79: I can't separate my love from the actual track quality.

I'm not voting in a year which was totally missed by me, but just a remark... Doesn't 'Best track of ZakStunts' mean that only ZakStunts tracks count (=built for ZakStunts), and the original ones don't? In my opinion Default should not count in the race. That should be an option for the 'Which is your favourite permanent competition track' question answer.

Since it was used as an official Zakstunts track, I guess it's acceptable. I voted another one anyway...

I settle with ZCT75. Honourable mention to ZCT78, though; it is one of the great "lost" tracks IMO. By the way, I'm ignoring Default, as per Akoss.

I can't decide between the formerly mentioned three tracks (all of them would deserve it), so my vote is rather practical: Bad Workforce (maybe only the second best track, but far the best race).

Tight one... ZCT 75 qualified to the finals.

ZCT 75 - Bad Workforce (Acura NSX) 3 (60%)
ZCT 79 - Default (Porsche March Indy) 2 (40%)

Now let's see the Ayrton era: 2008.

Lots of really good tracks here - all except 84 and 86. I vote for 90, but would also have liked to vote for 87 or 89 (with Duplode's amazing jump, showing his true potential by being 2 seconds ahead of Ayrton on an intermediate time.)

Results of season 2008:

ZCT 80 - Newborn (Indy, Indy, Indy) 1 (20%)
ZCT 85 - The Worst Track Ever (Lancia, Lancia, Lancia) 1 (20%)
ZCT 89 - Archaic Arch (Corvette, GTO, Audi) 1 (20%)
ZCT 90 - Christmas Present (GTO, Acura, Acura) 2 (40%)

ZCT 90 is in the final.

ZCT 94 - Cottage Cheese (Acura, Acura, Skyline) 1 (25%)
ZCT 97 - The Pit (Lancia, Lancia, Lancia) 1 (25%)
ZCT 100 - Operators (Skyline, Skyline, Skyline) 2 (50%)

Without too much conviction, I go with Z121. Z120 would be a plausible choice as well; and the Audi tracks were fun, but then Audi races tend to be fun anyway.

It would be nice to vote for the 2012 tracks early in January, as the races would still be fresh in our memories; but for that people would have to vote in the 2011 poll, which seems to be a little difficult...  ::)

It's time to vote for 2013! ;)

My choice is... hmmm... we had surprisingly good tracks in the last year. I can't really decide between ZCT142, 145 and 147. The first one was an excellent track (but not with the proper car), Euro Zone 2013 seemed to be the greatest challenge, while Eroica didn't fit me that much (still a nice one), but the race itself and car choice gave extra fun.

Since the old Euro Zone was already chosen as the best track of 2004, I vote for Eroica.

Voting on Halfnight on the strength of the well balanced dual-way paths, and also because no Countach speedways were selected yet. In any case, the other four tracks with votes are good enough to win as well.

Weird opinion.

Weirdly stated, indeed. Rephrasing: Halfnight was the most clever track, Nature Dad the most unusual, Dough Job the most welcoming and Ochenta Velas the one I enjoyed the most during its month (Doupe was cool as well, but I raced at it too briefly to retain a clear feeling). Cleverness won out by a hair's breadth, but those tracks are at about the same level.
