Title: Fixtures
Post by: CTG on October 25, 2012, 11:28:17 AM
A.k.a. the "Next round?" topic. So: next round? When?

This weekend? Next weekend?
Hungarian evening? Chinese evening?
Laps? Distance?
Jaguar? Audi? Countach?

Both weekends seem to be fine for me (Chinese evenings too).
Track: Zak? Duplode? (I won't say BJ because of ZCT 135 ;D)
Rules: quarter laps, 8:00 is obligatory (else: penalty time, I don't like DNF)
Car: a slow one (---> really short circuit)

I volunteer for creating the next track. In fact, I have one(*) which should be tolerable with Audi/Lancia/Carrera/Skyline (lap times at 40-45s). If there are more pipsqueaks willing/able to race this Sunday I can finish and release it tomorrow evening; otherwise we can regroup and use it next weekend.

(*) Actually I have two such tracks, but I am afraid I have tested the other one a bit too much already  :D

I can race tomorrow (after India GP so Zak can join?)

But then we need the track... Duplode?
Title: Re: Fixtures
Post by: Duplode on October 28, 2012, 12:53:44 AM
Here it is  ;) The track is a little longer than I'd have liked (closer to 50s than to 40s). Car: Audi (or Lancia, if you prefer). I will be here after the Grand Prix; if that turns out to be too soon (not enough time to test, too few pipsqueaks around, etc.) we can postpone it.

Next week sounds fine. Hopefully Zak will join, I really wonder about his semi-noRH skills (he's quite good in live racing).

I'll be around in the evening (GMT), and maybe in the afternoon too, depending on the weather.

Title: Re: Fixtures

I should be around for a race Sunday evening at the usual time...

(I guess a little logistical obstacle might be having one of us to actually volunteer for designing the track and then to publish it at a reasonable time in Friday or Saturday. Or maybe I only think so because I am quite OCD when it comes to track design... in any case, I wonder how dumb would it be to race on a track randomly picked from our Stunts folders :D)

I already have Win7, not sure I can install XP. Except with emulation, but then it's easier and much smaller on hard drive to use DOSBox. :P And by the way I don't have XP, I never had it : I switched from Win 98 to Vista and now 7. I never had XP at home (I kept Win 98 quite a long time because it had (almost) full DOS compatibility).

Let's just fix a date and a time, and then we meet on the forum chat (http://forum.stunts.hu/chat/index.php) at that time. If there's enough people, we throw 1d100 and race on the corresponding zak track.

By the way, 1d100 is pronounced the same way in French than "indécent" (which means indecent in English. Yes, sometimes French and english are quite similar ;D).

If 0.74 is the latest version then I have to disagree. It's slow under XP (with all kind of settings).

Krys doesn't use XP, he said so previously. I found that the best DOSBox version for XP users is 0.70 (at least for me it is)

Sure, I'll probably have a hangover as I have dinner parties both Friday and Saturday. Dup, remember not to sleep, as CTG will surely be drunk!

:D That should be no problem: I am operating in full-tilt insomnia these days, and it's pretty certain I won't be able to recover fully 'till then  ;D

Also available. Luckily, I'll still have some jetlag to improve my driving!

Track? I would be glad to see other people creating them.

Car? McLaren or Melange would be fun.

Since I missed the last two races, it wouldn't be a good idea to ask "this weekend?". However, I have the mood now.

Lancia / Audi / LM002?

I'm vaguely in! ;)  I'd also like to try and make a track, but not this week —no time.

I still think it would be right that I take part in a live race with Duplode for the first time. On that note:

Hey Duplode, I'm going to roast you like I roasted Ayrton in USL 2008. When I'm through with you, you're gonna have less faith in your driving skills than Richard Dawkins has in God. I'm going to beat you by such a huge margin that Bernie could finish Default in an LM-002 while I'm waiting for you at the finish line. The only fastest time you're gonna set that day is the fastest time in going from Zakstunts champion to being caught drunk-driving with Bernie.

In other words: it could be really fun to race, and I'm gonna be motivated when we do.

It's such a pleasure to read this! :D

I won't have time tommorow, I will have time on Sunday.

Shall I use these sentences in my hacked Stunts for A.I. opponents?

Unless a last minute trip comes up (Monday and Tuesday are holidays here) I'm in!

@BJ: If we both share a race, when I'm finished...

you'll be probably waiting for me in the finish line, arms crossed and really bored.

;D

Placing real pipsqueaks in game could make for great politically incorrect fun :D

A race this Sunday would be nice! Don't think I will manage to prepare a track, though - any volunteers?

I wanted to build a Silvertone-like track for the MP4, but I found it quite hard... maybe I'll create some track for future meetings (and practice on it like hell, just to beat the crap out of you, guys!)

And then we'll change just one tile before the race, and it will be completely different! :D

Actually, you CAN change one tile and create a completely different track by simply reversing start/finish tile direction

I read "I wanted"... ok, go ahead and build Silverstone. As long as we can honor an English team with its home GP, I'm glad (and I'll work on a track for next live session)

Sorry, I have no time now to build a new track - but as I promised earlier, there's something in the pocket for slow car lovers.

(Silverstone is yours, Mr. Santivañez)

Edit: although an icy Silverstone track would be nice, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9S2GwLUN-8Q
