Competition 2002 / ZCT 20
December 05, 2002, 09:01:49 PM
Kalpen rules, Kalpen-style track...
Can you remember who won the last Kalpen race?
It was Zak McKracken!!!
(I guess he and Usrin are the only Hungarians who won a Stunts contest.)

But: I bet against him. I guess final scores will be:
1 Alan Rotoi 1:34.8
2 Argammon 1:36.2
3 Bonzai Joe 1:36.85.

re Rotoi: Usrin and me raced with 4D Contest Car 0.9 for BB Stunts 1.0 (that's why we didn't have chance).

Competition 2002 / Magic carpet ride
December 05, 2002, 08:40:56 PM
If somebody can do that magic carpet ride here, he'll fly onto the road in wrong direction (opposite ZCT 16). This can't be avoided. You need to turn the Indy to the right direction, which is time; or you have to brake hardly, which is time again. I think it's worthy to take this corner in 4th gear and brake between the slalom stones. That's it!

Competition 2002 / Divided road
December 05, 2002, 08:35:44 PM
Quote from: "Argammon!"Of course it is not hard to pass it if you break! but you need luck to pass it with power gear w/o getting penalty time ;)

I can do the big jump in 6th gear, I have to brake between the slalom stones because the water is around the next corner. This is the only part of the track which can't be done in 6th gear in my opinion (that doesn't mean I can do all of the other parts in 6th gear). If you steer left, you'll be on a hill, and when you drive back onto the road, you'll sink or you'll get penalty time.

Competition 2002 / Divided way on water

4)I don't those many parts of the track which depend on luck only (divided road on water is an example)You basically would need a bug jump to pass it... Alanrotois name would be 'magic carpet' (whyever!)

No, you don't need a bug. It's not so difficult. :) It's not a good example. But there are some parts really which depend on luck.

Competition 2002 / ZCT 20
December 02, 2002, 08:02:53 PM
Quote from: "BonzaiJoe"This track will demand more time than any other track I've ever seen. There are so incredibly many shortcuts, and there will be a lot of difficult power gear steering... Not for babies.

I agree. But I'll have time because:

Track Design Contest 2002 / To Argammon, Krys and Zak!!!
December 02, 2002, 07:54:55 PM
Quote from: "Argammon"-->
Akoss you clearly missed the point of the track contest! It looks like you want to win it in order to get advantages over other drivers next year! I mean other drivers don't have the possibility not to use track elements they don't like!

It's very questionable that you plan to use car you like when you race at amateur and cars you don't like.
You are turning a track design contest which was made to enhance the fun of this stunts community into a deadly serious competition only to get advantages over other drivers.

Now this being sad I am getting worried about your attitude and would really like not to see you win.Not because I can't stand you but because of the reasons stated above!

I can understand you but I need some help because our team can't find shortcuts.
And one thing: you should have given better marks. This is a track design contest, not a university exam.
Read the last lines of this comments, that is for you, too.

Quoteand by the way, how many times I have to say, that pro & amateur league track&car is the SAME!!!! every month. TDC winner(s) design track for the alternative competition, which is open for every pipsqueak.

Zak

re: I hope at least you will tell me for which car will I have to design the track. (in case I win)

QuoteI gave Alps a 5 because i liked this track and it deserves this note. But i really don't want u to win if u really think this way. B-tracks will be for pleasure of driving. Never forget that when u vote.
If u liked racing on a track, tell it honestly and vote the appropriated note.

Just a final point : u gave minus points for latest arrived tracks like Crop circle and Canyon. I hope Zak will allow u, for exceptionnal reasons, to put away the minus points u gave to these tracks.

I think you can't say I gave unreal votes. Almost all of the leading tracks got 4 or 5 (rather 4) from me. I can say I was honest when I was rating the tracks.
Zak! Please give back those 1 points to Alain and Krys (Crop Circle and Canyon)!
Comment on Argammon's comment here and Krys' comment in 'Design contest in general': is it a problem that I told you my opinion, my goals when I'll design the tracks? I just love to design tracks and I don't think I create terrible ones (I sent a slow track done by me to Mingva last weekend, so you can't say I design only fast tracks, but amateurs should have easy ones), so I think I can design the tracks. But if you don't want me to win, I won't design the tracks next year. None of the tracks. I don't want to design tracks while you are feeling I shouldn't have got this job. I would sense badly, and in this case I would lost my ability to find joy in designing tracks. Tell me please if you don't want me to design next year's B tracks.

Chat - Misc / CTG's problem
December 02, 2002, 12:19:07 PM
Quote from: "CTG"Of course I'm interested in but my PC (as you know) has some strange problems. I tried to install TTD for Win95 several times but it didn't work. I installed all of files needed to run this game under Windows 2000, but it wasn't successful. I don't know what's the matter, but I'll solve it as it's possible. So I vote for a TTD design contest!

CTG! Try to run it in MS DOS mode. In config.sys file you can adjust if you want to run Windows or MS DOS. It depends on a number: 0 or 1 but I can't remember in which line you must change it, but my father knows it, I'll ask him.
Or when you start your computer, try to push F5/F8 (I can't remember which), and maybe you can choose in which mode you want to start your computer.

ISA-IRC: General Chat / Akoss - Unskilled Driver???
December 02, 2002, 11:59:57 AM
In the summer Pershing asked me what is my team. I said: if Usrin joins the ISA too, I will be a LW Driver in the ISA, too, otherwise, I'm an Unskilled Driver 'cos once CTG wrote let me join the Unskilled Drivers team in the ISA Comp. Usrin said Zak's Contest is enough for him, so I'm an Unskilled Driver in the ISA. CTG is the only Unskilled Driver in the ISA so I think that's correct. So I did the best result for the Unskilled Drivers: 2nd place on Kinshasa. :)

Competition 2002 / Evaluation your times and mine ZCT 19
December 02, 2002, 11:49:10 AM
Congatulations to the Cork and to the Orion drivers, great times. I only had this weekend, and I don't like the Countach, so I can be satisfied.

Comments on parts of the tracks:
1st shortcut: Bonzai's car was pushed on the hill a bit so he didn't have to drive too much on the dark green grass. He lost minimal speed. Alan, what happened to you! You lost time there to me, and before the pipe jump I was still faster than you... it's quite surprising.
banked corner: I couldn't do it somehow with 170 mph, I needed to brake. Sh*t...
2nd shortcut: awesome. I know it's possible but I couldn't do it. I tried with another thing: when car is pushed on the hill (left to the bridge) i tried to add a little spin to the car and I managed to do this, but I always skidded on the grass and I lost much speed... Grats to drivers who did the jump.
1st trick: I don't know how it can mean more speed. I did it but I had a worse time than without the shortcut...
2nd trick: I did it. I tried to do this 160+ mph but I wasn't succeeded. Bonzai's drive is still crazy.
3rd shortcut: I did it.
Once again grats. The quality and strength of the championship is rising and rising!
Sh*t Countach again...

it's all about 6th gear steering. i don't know my 6th gear steering skills, so everything is possible. a very good track! (8 points) best part is the place around the small dual way! i enjoyed it! :D

Track Design Contest 2002 / Bordeaux
December 02, 2002, 10:55:38 AM
Well... This track is too short. And not too much fantasy in it. Mediocre scenery.
But! This is a nice little track. Somehow it reminds me to the track that I sent to Mingva on Saturday. It's slow but it's because it's stunts element density and this is another advantage.
I know that I'm voting against myself but this track is clearly a 4!

and one thing: an excellent ISA Competition track!!! Mingva, Pershing: you should add this track to the calendar 2003, the track name is also ok.

Track Design Contest 2002 / Bluepool
December 02, 2002, 10:46:55 AM
Without the water maybe it would be a 6th gear track, but it isn't.  The same elements everywhere and not too much of it, long straights, water... it's quite boring. Good length. Not much fantasy. It's better than the 1 tracks so let it be 2.
