First of all, launching ./maintenance/update.php could result in an error like "Main slot or revision (number) not found", since 1.18 is quite an old version. In the case, try to launch ./maintenance/populateContentTables.php.

Then, this Telegram group is devoted to help with MW.

We are starting from MediaWiki 1.18, and going as far as we can on MySQL and PHP, likely 8 and 8 for both. I think I need to step-upgrade to MediaWiki 1.27 then 1.35, but not certain.

Ok, I just asked. I cannot assure an answer, but it is worth the try.

I'm not a MW expert, but I have some references. Probably with the details of the case...

Ha, ha... we'll do it, we'll do it...
Yes, when I started making Bliss, this is one of the first things I noticed because I thought... "What?  Two boats look North and two boats look West?  Which one is right?"... and I made a simple track and tested it. But I did it wrong for several versions, two of my boats in Bliss were exchanged. Then somebody (I think it was Afullo) pointed out this bug to me and I fixed it.

I tested and suggested corrections for various Bliss features, but I do not remember knowing this bug regarding boats, before reading it right now. So with all chance it wasn't me. ;)

As I already said, the Subaru Impreza in Ultimate Stunts behaves almost exactly on every kind of terrain. But this is probably exaggerated on the converse...

No problem!  Enough time has passed and now, virtually everybody is using 64 bit OSs. It's a relief to only have to distribute one GNU/Linux binary

That was also a version-related difference: .so5 binary was required even for 64-bit Ubuntu 18.04. But, as said, it is time to update that release, since it will be not supported anymore after April 2023; furthermore, flavors such as Kubuntu still guarantee updates for only three years rather than five, so their 18.04 has been already outdated for a year...

By the way, during the latest weeks I updated all my Ubuntu 18.04 installations to the version 20.04. So I will not be able to produce .so5 versions of CarWorks and Bliss anymore, which could be not a great issue since 18.04 support is going to end in a year...

But to make zip from rar you have to unpack them first. They are not the same.

Back in 2005, some Doom III mods did not start because the modder(s) packed the pk4 file(s) as rar and not as zip (pk4 are considered by the game as just zip, with renamed extension in order to recognize their role).

7-zip is free and allows you easily to produce .zip files.

I'll let it stew for a few days, then start back-filling data for previous seasons (which are there, but show the old table). I have some doubt about the early seasons with Nascar points, I might need some custom code there.

As I just observed in the shoutbox, this year, also non-integer scores (such as 0.10 for 13th place) are considered for the team standings, while usually they were regarded as zero. I don't think this would considerably change the previous rankings, but consistency with these tables, strictu senso, would probably be lost.

Fun fact: if you press "P" in the list of tracks or replays it will pause the game instead of searching the files wich starts with P.

I'm curious whether is there a way to escape it, possibly by keeping also Shift pressed or something similar. Or if, rather, the pause overrides every combination of keys... :D

Regarding limitations, I remember this old post by Duplode:

Quote from: Duplode on March 14, 2014, 01:31:28 AM
Strictly speaking, the limit is 256 files. That only corresponds to 128 tracks if you have high score files for all of them, so your ZakStunts archive directory will be fine as long as you don't drive the tracks. Incidentally, Competition Archive competition directories have to be split at ~80 tracks, as each track is usually accompanied by at least one replay.

I liked the project, but car handling feels way off.
Of course a car behaving exactly the same way on both grounds is a coarse simplification...

Regarding low level programming, I think the jobs are still there, and possibly better paid than others. What is happening is that they are not growing as fast as others. Since the 80s the number of developers has doubled every 5-7 years. This has happened not by doubling the number of positions, but by expanding into new fields: new ground is broken, and new people can work on software for new problems.

You are probably right, the diminution holds in relative terms, but not absolutely. Still, it is true that often courses giving those abilities form people for enterprises in which they are not required, essentially not focusing on what it is really necessary for them; maybe they are of some use for giving a good forma mentis, which is of course quite important, but usually who takes a course of this kind already possesses it.
