Month`s Tracks - Kalpens / Copycats
September 01, 2003, 10:43:57 AM
Imagine the following situation:
You take a nice 30 minutes on a rainy afternoon to give an old game a shot you have not for several month.
The result is obvious:
After several crashes and a car moving snake lines around the road you eventually finish the first 'boring' part of the track while of course losing a lot of time there.
Thinking 'ah well I gave it a shot' you start driving the track and with some luck you manage to do 1 shortcut after another making the overall time decent.Of course it does still not make up for the lost time due to the fact it's just 'a try' and not an optimized time.

What would happen next?
Ah well there are officially no teams at kalpens but since you received some fake times from your fellow teammate placed 1th on zakstunts you decide to send your replay to your teammates to show them your shortcuts.Maybe they will win if they find time and motivation to optimize their time using the same way.

After staying up next morning you would eventually check your e-mails:

BANG! There's an e-mail from 1.09.03 somewhere around 1.33 am from a fellow teammate. What might that be?
I mean the contest is already over!?!?,or is it not?
Checking the e-mail the solution is simple. It's a great time driven by super duper teammate Alain.
First thought:Wow with that time he might have won,Great!
Second thought:Ah well he could have send this time around before the contest was over like I did.

Of course you would curiously want to take a look at the great winning replay just received from your teammate.
Expectations are rising! What shortcuts might he have found?

Watching the replay you bite your teeth into the table.HARDER! HARDER!
The replay you are watching is an exact copy of your replay with the only difference the other driver obviously took some time to avoid driving snake lines.Yes,he optimized the replay taking the same way and thus copying your replay.

First thought: Um ugh why didn't he send his replay around before the competition was over if he decided to copy your replay? You quickly figure out this would be obnoxious ;) and unfair behaviour. Not that you would have driven again if you had received his replay. But just the fact he copied your replay would somehow give you the right to watch his before the competition is over. And then again he didn't know you had no intentions to drive anymore.

Second thought:
Thinking about this rude action you are brainstorming your mind. What to do?
Go to the message board and start a flamatory post yelling at your teammate because of his obnoxious behaviour?
Ok flaming is fun and maybe it helps to release some steam but then again there's already to much flaming and nonesense on the forum.

While thinking a bit farther you get a third thought:
You would write a small(ok not THAT small) funny story around it to convey your views to your teammate. That way he would know what he did wrong and all the others might have fun reading.........

'01/22/2002 07:17:12 New entrys from two old faces, Idiot and Roy. '

I don't find them

Well on another note I just drove 1 time w/o replay handling and was very angry I hit the post on the finish line I doubt I will get THAT time again!

Competition 2002 / Bonzai Joe admit it :)
January 18, 2002, 02:00:00 PM
You don't send a time bc even Skid is faster than you this month!

Admit it!

Bernie sent me a telephone tape proving you are chickening out.

Competition 2002 / Records
January 17, 2002, 11:00:00 PM
I proposed Zak to add a page with records for some well known tracks like 'default'.It should be an all time record page and not be finished every month...

Zak already said he wanted to do it next month,so enjoy

Especially since all 'Indy' competitions are dead now

ISA-IRC: General Chat / More rule questions
March 17, 2002, 01:00:00 PM
1)Why do we have to drive the full loop but not the corcsrew?

That's not really consequent.Loop jumping is fun and difficult, why don't you let us do it?

2)I happen not to use replay handling driving with the Indy because it is a lot more fun w/o + a fast car.

But no replay handling means I have often hit the grass if I come from a jump and land on a banked corner.I think that has nothing to do with shortcuts and I should be allowed to drive on if I come back to the road as fast as possible.

3)The same thing comes to mind if someone accidently has to much speed in a corner and takes a longer way than necessary.Of course I would agree it's not allowed to cut.But why do you have to restart driving only because you missed the corner?Well it's still easier to understand than point 2)

4)If a loop is close behind a jump the car often happens just to fly through it instead to drive the whole loop even if you land on the right spot.(happens only with +200 mph)

Why do we have to drive again?I mean it's not my fault if the damn indy does descide not to drive the loop   even though I drove the correct way.

ISA-IRC: General Chat / Rules
February 26, 2002, 05:00:00 PM
Let's get a more serious discussion started.

I will number my points so they'r easier to understand and reply to.

1)I really like shortcuts and see no problem to use them neither do I accept the 'no skill' comments.Simply not true... Most of those jumps are the hardest one's you have to do in stunts!

2)I still think the idea of a competition w/o real 'shortcuts' is a good idea, just because there ARE already other competitions where shortcuts are allowed (Zaks...)

3)IMO you have to many rules... make them more easy to use and understand!

My suggestions only for ISA not for Zaks ;P)

a)skipping from one road to another on 2 or more way tracks = not allowed

b)you may only hit the grass if 1 wheel 'touches' the road or ANY OTHER PART of regular track!

c)You may not hit the fence if you are on/over the water.

Those rules are clear, easy to understand and usefull.

No need to argue about every single item of the track :IE. 'loop jump'

If you say driving over grass takes no skill you are right, but a jump perfectly timed onto a corner does take a lot of skill

Chat - Misc / Zak forgot to add my time
March 01, 2002, 09:00:00 AM
I sent it 16.31 yesterday Zak's time and it's not on the scoreboard for whatever reason..

Competition 2002 / The competition might begin!
March 19, 2002, 04:00:00 PM
good times from Roy and Ben Snell.

Of course I took the 1st spot back

I will claim the 1st spot until the end of the month,at least as long as I have time to drive

#69
It's bad for those reasons:

1)You have no clue what time is good and which time is not good.I for example only raced a quick timer because there wasn't and decent time on the scoreboard.

2)Replays may get lost..I've no idea if Zak simply forgot to add my time or if the replay got lost on my or his part.EIther way it sucks.

Either way I'm not going to play on with the disgusting 1.20...

Competition 2002 / Bismarck..
February 26, 2002, 05:00:00 PM
Did you check he didn't use the Jaguar Zak? :P

And if not : Are you sure his car ISN'T wrecked in the water?

Even Roy's time is far away as of now!

I h8 it !

But beware: All others will be fishfood *eg*

And I will still be the leader after this month

Competition 2002 / Roy...... ( 1
February 09, 2002, 11:00:00 PM
is the favourite according to B.Joe's analyzis

Imo some of the 'newbies' like Usrin and Dario already have a very good time which is already very hard to beat if you don't find any real shortcut, which is not possible bc Zak blocked 'em with water, tunnels and shicanes *G*

I don't have the time to find out the best of the 3 ways so I will just chose one of them

My Predictions excluding my own position:

1)Bismarck (very good on closed tracks)

2)Roy (very good overall driver more likely to find small shortcuts like the 'loop jump' if he does he will win,if not my bets are on Bismarck

3)Bonzai Joe... will be about 1,5-2 seconds slower than Roy and Bismarck who should be close together

4)The newcomers Usrin and Dario should be only marginally slower than B Joe

and 6th place should go to Ben ,who IMO does not spend much time to drive or he would be a lot faster...

Competition 2002 / Which way does everyone take?
February 03, 2002, 03:00:00 PM
I am really not sure about the best one!

Either the 1st or the 3rd ,IMO the 2nd one is several 2nds slower if raced equally well.

And I disagree with Zak about the track:

I think it's most difficult track I've raced yet in Zak's competition.

And it's a closed track,no doubt.Zak really blocked all shortcuts I've found with water.

I somehow prefer the countach over the GTO although they should be on the same lvl...

General Chat - ZSC / Damn it I found the trick!
April 01, 2002, 09:00:00 PM
To late! to late!

I am 100% sure Bismarck used it but am not sure about Roy.

It does only work with the LM002 as far as I know ->it won't help me next month.

This is how I found it:

I drove the 1st part of the track like mad but never managed to go below 18.90 after trying about 50 times I realized it couldn't be driven faster...The average time I got was between 19.00 and 19.40

But then I got an idea and tried it out:

Best try after few minutes: 18.45 !!!

I couldn't believe it and drove on and at least kept the advantage I got over the remaining track without investing much time!

This is no joke and I guess I have to wait until next year to win the LM002 competition. The great improvement in my time has nothing to do with skills,it's the car

General Chat - ZSC / Statistics!
April 01, 2002, 10:00:00 AM
I had the idea to compare the top 3 times  by looking at certain 'spots' from Roys replay

and comparing the 2nd and 3rd's place time.

The results are somewhat interesting because Roy wasn't the fastest on all parts of the track

and Bonzai lost 2nd place due to a horrible jump.

     Roy  Bonzai Arg

1: 19.05   19.00 (-0.05) 19.20 (+0.15)   -Bonzai was the fastest here !

2: 29.25   29.45 (+0.20) 29.80 (+0.55)   -Roy took over the lead but Boonzai is still close.Arg should have driven this part more often as his time is crap.

3: 41.60   42.20 (+0.60) 42.95 (+1.35!)  -Bonzai losing ground,Arg is as bad as Otto on elevated roads!

4: 50.95   51.65 (+0.70) 52.35 (+1.40)   -Kinda unimportant part of the track but Roy is still a bit faster than the opposition here.

5: 1.11.35 1.13.00 (+1.65) 1.13.05 (+1.70)  -Bonzai has to work on his jump skills,he lost 0,70 to Arg so Arg comes very close to him.Winner is descided:Roy

6: 1.27.90 1.29.70 (+1.80) 1.29.55 (+1.65) -The part I have invested most time into earns me 2nd place    ) At least I'm faster than Roy here.

And now we get to know who was the fastest on certain parts of the track

best time 2nd best 3rd best

1 part    Bonzai    Roy      Arg

2 part    Roy       Bonzai   Arg

3 part    Roy       Bonzai   Arg

4 part    Roy       Arg      Bonzai

5 part    Roy       Arg      Bonzai

6 part    Arg       Roy      bonzai

Roy has the best overall time,Bonzai has a strong beginning and Arg has a strong ending.

If anyone else wants to have his replays included send them to my e-mail. I am especially interested in 4th - 6th place!

Yes they are.I only drove this track once and w/o replay handling and it's still barely faster than the 1st time on the scoreboard.

I KNOW everyone can do better so WHY do you bother to send in CRAP times ?

It's OBVIOUS everyone will save his good replays for the END of the month again so you could as well not send in any replays.

General Chat - ZSC / Questions Zak :)
January 26, 2002, 12:00:00 PM
Until which time can we send replays?

Need the exact time in gmt+1

Can I send you a replay faster than 1.01.35 but still let you add 1.01.35 to the list?

I hate braking before the finish line   but I don't want to lay all cards on the table this early either!
#78
My harddrive suffered a serious headcrash and is unrepairable.
I lost stunts including all replays just before I could even sent them to my teammates.Few hours of work lost and I am pissed.
Thus I am not sure if I will drive again or just forget about stunts as the weather is to good at the time being.

Competition 2003 / ZCT 24 winning time and rankings!
April 14, 2003, 08:00:57 PM
Here's my guess:

1)Bonzai 1.08.95 (the only one under 1.09.00 bc he is the king of the banked corners)

2)Akoss 1.09.40 (because he likes to be 0.05 faster than Arg on the final table :),very good finish like always)

3)Argammon 1.09.45 (Good start but w/ problems on the banked part on the track)

4)Alanrotoi 1.09.60 (Does not spend to much time this month but still gets a decent time,if he will be able to redo that SC of his old replay he might win)

5)Zak 1.09.95 (skilled fast driver w/o putting to much effort into the monthly comp)

6)Krys 1.10.05 (makes good progress, should be a pro pipsqueak by now)

7)Alain 1.10.15 (If he descided to send a replay)

8)Usrin 1.10.20 (very strong this month)

9)CTG 1.10.75 (can't improve to much bc he is not used to manual transmission)

10)Mingva 1.11.50 (reason:???)

Ok I am sure many of you will disagree with me :)
What's your guess about winning time and top 10?
