Quote from: alanrotoi on December 12, 2023, 12:13:19 AMThis year will be only 2 race winners. It didn't happened since 2015 season (Akoss - Duplode)

That is not clear yet. You will have to wait until the last race is over.  :)

I was hoping you had the data in an excel file or something similar.  ;)

Cool. Could you share the source data file?  :)

I have told my teammates quite a while ago and can now announce it in public: I am not going to compete for the Zakstunts title in 2024. I just cannot make my mind up whether I should participate casually in a couple of races or take a break from (Zak)stunts altogether.

This raises the question who is going to fight for the championship next year. Let's have a quick recap and first consider the last couple of seasons:

2020: Very close battle between Duplode (107), CTG (105) and Seeker 1982 (104). However, after taking into account leading-time bonus, Duplode (1 ltb) is clearly the best driver of the season. [CTG (8 ltb), Seeker (9ltb)].

2021. Alanrotoi (117) makes a comeback to serious racing in an epic battle against Duplode (106) and wins his first ever Zakstunts championship. After controlling for leading time bonus, Alanrotoi's lead shrinks to two points indicating the performance on the tracks was quite even. CTG had a strong start (3rd, 1st, 1st, 4th) but then skipped too many races in good old Argammon fashion to play a role in the final classification.

2022. On first glance, this season again seemed to feature an Alanrotoi (117) vs Duplode (102) battle. However, Alanrotoi's lead after correcting for leading-time bonus is 7 points indicating he was the dominating driver of the season. Duplode's replays seem to be on average considerably worse than in 2021, perhaps meaning Duplode made more of a casual appearance instead of seriously fighting for the title. CTG again competed in the first couple of races albeit with less success (2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd) before quitting most of the races.

2023. The battle of Argammon vs Duplode. Duplode was clearly the best driver at the beginning of the season, winning the first two races. Argammon shrugged off his rustiness from a 15-year break with a stellar flying GTO replay in the third race, laying the foundation for his first ever Zakstunts title. After correcting for leading-time bonus, Argammon's lead shrinks to (currently) two points meaning this season featured a real battle. Alanrotoi submitted strong replays the first three races (3rd, 3rd, 3rd) but stepped off the gas paddle for the rest of the season.

2024. Duplode vs ??. The champions from 2021 to 2023 Alanrotoi and Argammon have announced they are not going to compete for the title. Is there anybody going to step up and challenge Duplode? I am kind of hoping that one of the old-time greats makes a comeback. If not, I can see Duplode dominating the season with 10-12 wins.

Thanks @Duplode. Your test is much more practical than mine.

For replays that do not use the detour (the right way) a tool that does the following would also suffice:

Before we start, we need a second version (SV) of the track with one of the pieces from the right way missing making it incomplete. Then the tool extracts the replay from the real replay file and copies it into a dummy replay file containing the SV tack.

Loading the dummy replay in stunts would reveal whether the replay is ok or not. Do you have too much time on your hands @Cas;D

It is totally possible I am overthinking the split issue, but I can still see two potential problems arising due to this track design flaw.

1) You cannot view this attachment.

When you fly a trajectory similar to the one indicated in the picture above it is difficult to tell whether the finishing tile or the split triggers the end of the lap. A quick test is to change the trajectory so that the car clearly lands on the finishing tile. If that test triggers 6 seconds penalty time the lap is invalid. However, I am unsure if my test detects all instances of the problem. Is it possible for one of you coders to develop a simple tool that checks for how a replay ends?

2) Suppose pipsqueak A is leading during the private days and pipsqueak B takes the lead with an invalid replay. Pipsqueak C drives a lap that would be sufficient to beat player A but not to beat player B. Since pipsqueaks A and C are close competitors pipsqueak C decides to wait and post his lap during the quiet days. After the end of the race, pipsqueak B's replay is found invalid and is deleted accordingly. The problem is that player A receives player B's leading time (possibly several days) even though player C should have received it. I find that problematic since yesterday's incident and my example above, see (1), show that even experienced players may post an invalid lap by accident.

How did you get the association "Fiat Uno" from "ladder"?

New Example (Indy vs P962): X=-25, Y=5, t^y=60

p=0 -> t^x = 45.6
p=4 -> t^x = 46.05  (all numbers rounded to two decimals, that also applies to my previous examples)

So, the Indy would benefit from the point deduction.  :)

Here is a plot showing how much faster/slower the Indy would have to drive than 45.6 to beat a 60 second lap of the P962. p=0 is the current situation in which 160 points move around, p=10 means 10 points are being deducted from all the cars etc.

I don't have time for a simulation, but here is a back of the envelope calculation on the immediate effect of a bonus point deduction from the carpool.

1) We are at the beginning of a new season and Car X starts with a X% > 0 bonus and Car Y starts with a Y% > 0 bonus.
For Car X to beat Car Y it must hold that

t^x < t^y*(100-Y)/(100-X), where t^x are the driven times of cars X and Y, respectively.

Example: X=27, Y=5, and t^y = 60, think of the LM and the P962. Then Car X must drive t^x = 78.08 or faster to beat car Y.

2) The admins decide to remove p bonus points from each car in competition (to reduces the number of points in the system). For simplicity, we assume X-P and Y-P are positive. Then for Car X to beat Car Y it must hold that

t^x < t^y*(100-Y+P)/(100-X+P)
Example: X=27, Y=5, t^y = 60 and p=4. Hence Car X must drive t^x = 77.14 to beat Car Y, meaning the LM suffers from the change.

3) More generally, we can compare the thresholds: t^y*(100-Y)/(100-X) > t^y*(100-Y+P)/(100-X+P) holds for any X in (0,100) when X>Y>0 and p>0.

It would be a great honor to become the highest ranked European driver in the historical rankings. The south Americans are out of reach.  8)

A very simple and easy to understand solution is to ban a power-gear car after a win. That way, we limit the power-gear wins to a maximum of 4 per season which seems the right amount to me.

Watch my lambo replay. It wasn't the right car, :)  but the replay is beautiful if I may say so.

Quote from: Erik Barros on September 19, 2023, 04:57:24 PMI would suggest an LTB points system for the amateur league.

Excellent idea. I have two radical proposals:

  • What's about LTB points only for the amateur league? Let the new and innovative drivers do the scouting!  8)
  • Alternatively, pro drivers can get leading time but only if they post their replays as public. ;)
