Spanish Chat / Re: Todas sus competiciones son nosotras!
« on: May 20, 2008, 03:46:42 PM »

Hey! Otro argentino más! Creo que empezamos a ser plaga :P

En fin, BIENVENIDO!!!

Here it is another idea: how about Mach 5?  ;D

Anyway, now I have some more free time, so I think I can work a little bit on the truck. I can promess results soon but I'll do my best. So I need all the files, can someone pass them to me or at least tell me where to find them?

Ok...

1- I'm not sure how to edit the dashboard to make it look like a truck.

2- I was never good at editing cars with CarBlaster (and a truck usually has more than 5 gears, so probably will be easier to use the same gear relations as LM002 with different weight, as Duplode said)

3- How about the cockpit height? I mean, when you are using the F1 view (from inside), does it look that you are at least as high as in the LM002? (again, I haven't tested it yet, so I don't know)

1. That would require exporting the STDA*.PVS/STDB*.PVS bitmaps, editing them in your favourite editor (of course using only the default palette available to Stunts) and importing them back into the .PVS files. With stressed, importing and exporting of bitmaps is trivial, so artistic skills are the only limiting factor... ;)

2. Maximum number of gears for a car is six, if 5 vs. 6 really would make a difference. Anyway, I have no clue about how should a Stunts truck drive... :D but I could assist with the technicalities if needed (BTW, in case you're wondering about parameters, be sure to check the Wiki)

3.That's pretty simple, just question of modifying a parameter in CarBlaster (CAR*.RES).  :)

Ok, just two questions then:

1- Where can I download stressed?

2- Where can I download the truck files?

36
But what about parameters of the truck ?
I tend to use the Indy setup when testing. I'll leave the tuning job to someone more competent in that field. ;)

I think that would be me, but there are two problems (maybe three, I haven't tested the truck yet):

1- I'm not sure how to edit the dashboard to make it look like a truck.

2- I was never good at editing cars with CarBlaster (and a truck usually has more than 5 gears, so probably will be easier to use the same gear relations as LM002 with different weight, as Duplode said)

3- How about the cockpit height? I mean, when you are using the F1 view (from inside), does it look that you are at least as high as in the LM002? (again, I haven't tested it yet, so I don't know)

Ups, I've totally forgot it: Congratulatios BJ!!!

Well, replays are uploaded, so I proceed to answer this question

IRC rule interpretation question for the new track: are spiraling jumps off ramps allowed? By spiraling jumps, I refer to the classic trick where one enters the ramp coasting it along its edge so that the car rolls outward along the ramp guardrail and then takes off rotated sideways:

As you can see in this screenshot, which corresponds to the furthest outward position during the trick, the right side wheels are just above the guardrail, thus the car seems to be OWOOT. The polemic point that concerns me is whether grinding the walls as one could do with a skateboard should be counted as illegal exploitation of a collision bug (even though this situation is not completely distinct from the boulevard bump bug...)

Well, I don't like this bug, it think (as you mentioned) it goes against one of the rules, but since I'm allowing it since long ago, I'm not considering it a penalization. Perhaps in the future I will, but not for now (I have others things in mind to do before that). When you check the replays, you'll see that Mark and Ayrton already used this bug on TATETI, and (in my opinion) they are on the very edge of the penalization.

BTW, in my opinion this bug is quite distinct from the boulebard bump jump (you aren't going through the element), but it isn't that different from the... mmmmmmh (damn it, I forgot the name of the element and I don't have Stunts on this computer to check)... let's say: "round tunnel" bug, which I also consider it goes against the same rule, but I'm also allowing it since long ago and I won't change that in the short-term.

New track available now  ;)

(just before "next weekend", Argentinian time  ;D )

Well, actually there is no Ayrton's 0.59.75 replay (even though I was expecting something like that too).

The problems are:

1- I'm now in the middle of a system reinstall, so my computer won't be operative for a while.

2- I have an exam on Monday, so I don't have time to do all the stuff that must be done at this point of the track.

That's why I'm announcing that the update will be delayed for a few days, but it will be for before next weekend. That's all I have to say for now, I'm off to study   :-\

Okay I will have to do a serious try to improve. When is the deadline exactly?

Today at midnight, Argentinian time (GTM -3). You can "hide" your time in a similar way as in ZakStunts.

Let's see what will happen in next track, hoping Paleke won't place another insupportable (at least for me!) Up/Down Corkscrew!  :D

What? I love up/down corkscrews!  ;D  My tracks (before WSC, all of them lost) used to have plenty of them, and they used to be very very long too (sometimes over 10 min). :P

1.01.50

For now that's the only known bug of SSEHPTC, it doesn't show the last 0 when the time ends in 50. We (me and mostly EdR) tried to fix it, but we never could.

After almost 15 days of inactivity, I just want to remind you that tomorrow is the deadline for TATETI... Don't forget about it  ;)

44
I remember I talked about it with Cas some time ago. He said he could find a solution for this, not modifying Stunts original files. It was kind of tricky, and I don't know if I can explain his idea properly (so I won't try to) but I have to make the same coment I told him then (he also said this is posible): the replay file should be "marked" or "signed" to avoid cheats.

Unlikely... Unless your nickname is Ayrton  ;D

Anyway, your replay is ok  ;)
