Yes, those are good lyrics, but in the end I think both of SOM's other albums, and The Reptile House EP are better and more interesting.
But there's something about Vision Thing when you are in a sarcastic mood and you can see the blunt irony of the world. Then Vision Thing kind of sweeps past all hope and fear and just plainly asserts what you can do with this ironic reality. Like having 25 whores in the room next door.

Sums it up well  :) I recall having loved about half of Floodland, the other half left me a bit cold - but I need to listen to it more anyway.

Now, the proposition is: can we please both the metal and the post-punk musical sensibilities here with the same piece of music? Having a bit of both within myself, I found the following approach to prog metal to be quite interesting, even refreshing:

This is reaaaaaally easy, considering a very famous pop singer sang it more than once...

Maybe you guys already came across it, but I have just noticed that the Internet Archive hosts a massive collection of free, authorized "bootlegs" at http://www.archive.org/details/etree . The majority are from independent artists of all sorts, but some hip modern indie bands (Animal Collective, quite a number of post-rock acts and the sort of stuff often hyped at last.fm) are covered as well, and there are a few big surprises:

Definitely worth a check, I say.

Look at Billy with his long black hair... So young and naive.
This reminds me that I dreamed James returned to the Smashing Pumpkins. Weird. Thanks for the site suggestion!
But we can't be quite sure.
