Time to revive this topic with a classic.

Remember that ridiculous James Bond bridge jump? Remember how fake it looked? That's not because is was fake, that's because it was slowed down.

It was apparently the first car stunt originally conceived on a computer, for lack of people that want to develop stunts like this by way of trial and error. The movie producers patented the manouvre just so nobody could use it in a movie before they did. And it ended up looking like that.

So the whole thing is like the "Thomas Salto" of car stunts: impressive feat, used in a ridiculous way (number 3 on that list).
