A fellow site visitor sent me an article on Quantum Link, which was basically a pre-internet internet for the commodore 64 in the late 80s and early 90s.
I never heard about it before and found it pretty amazing. If you are interested in computer history, take a look at his site.

Very interesting, I had no idea about any of that either. The music exchange functionality sounds particularly intriguing -- they used MIDI for that, I suppose?

C64 could not do midi as far I know. SID chiptunes I guess :)
