In the end it wasn't possible for me to get everything ready last evening, my apologies. In any case, planning is well underway, so we'll start this evening for sure. I can confirm we have, among other things, a track name, "MacArthur Park", and a car list, which I'm keeping under wraps for the moment ;)

All right, track posted! We'll be racing on MacArthur Park until 2026-03-14 23:59:59 UTC, with the following cars (attached below and also available on the site):

No adjustments or footnotes to the driving rules this time. As suggested by @Victor Narl , public replays have been turned off for this race, as they were in the Christmas Event; let's see how it goes.

So what's the exact deadline, the 13th or the 14th? The website says the 13th.

It's the 14th. The setting on the site was wrong; it's now fixed, thanks.

One way to read this track is as an experiment to see what a fast track for the Superkart could be like, in contrast to the default expectation for a Kart-specific track to be all sharp and twisty. The rest of the cars were picked for having family resemblance with the Kart, more so in this or that aspect for each of them -- and I'm still surprised at how close the balance turned out to be!

Was my experiment a success? You have until Saturday to find out! :D

Everything would be fine if it weren't for the deadline. your deadline is just awful!

Results are confirmed! Congratulations to @Victor Narl the winner, and to @Spoonboy right behind (cool to see a side jump over the lake gap!). Car-wise, I'd highlight the experience of trying out the Ferrari 158 -- looking forward to further explore this very distinctive machine!

Preparations for Round 3 are underway, and if all goes to plan it will be up at some point this Sunday.

Season 4 standings after Round 2:

  • NRL: 20 + 17 = 37
  • SPO: 16 + 10 = 26
  • ALA: 12 + 7 = 19
  • DUP: 8 + 9 = 17
  • STC: 4 + 1 = 5
  • ROT: 0 + 2 = 2

@Duplode, thanks for the congratulations. On this track, the Uno predictably took the place corresponding to its name, and the Superkart remained in second place.
The Uno's top speed is much higher and is not compensated for by the Superkart's acceleration.
I also believe this track is not very suitable for the Superkart, due to its sharp and icy turns.

This is an interesting take on the track! The received wisdom used to be that, given the Kart's low top speed and very high nimbleness, a purpose-built track for it should, in order to have depth, be very twisty and full of sharp turns (ZCT131 is a good example). Your reading of the track suggests perceptions are shifting -- which is kinda what I wanted to nudge with the track, after all  :)

Spoonboy

That was a fun track - glad I managed to get all four cars raced! The kart is tricky to get used to again, and I had trouble getting it over the bridge. So an alternative route was needed! Fortunately, @Duplode had placed some useful ramps. Cutting over all of them to further down the banking was ok, but bouncing back on after the bridge was ~3s faster.
Not as fast as succeeding in the original jump, so well done to those that did!

The Ferrari was also my favourite, I'll definitely add this to my garage of cars to enjoy later. Of course, the Uno was awesome! ;)
Viva CCC!

Alain il professore

Hello my friends,

Congratulations to Spoonboy and Victor Narl for winning, and thank you to all participants!

Yours, Alain il Professore.
It is reasonable to expect that genetic influences on traits like IQ should become less important as one gains experiences with age. Surprisingly, the opposite occurs.

Victor Narl

@Alain il professore, thanks for the congratulations. I'm disappointed you didn't have time to send your replay for Superkart.
