Ballon d'Or has no value anymore...
(And I think van Persie scored a much nicer goal than James Rodriguez. What's more, justice for Simeone: overtaking Real and Barca with a significantly weaker team in a whole season is a better performance than winning World Cup with a fuckin' strong German squad.)

In life, there are three great certainties: death, presenting the singer Roberto Carlos on Brazilian television at the end of year and the dribble of Robben to the left.
Today: 32 years without Mané Garrincha, one of the greatest players of history.
On National Team, Garrincha had just one defeat. Brazil never lost a game with Pelé and Garrincha together.

Leo, do you think Brazil performance in the WC would had be different if Scolari called players like Ronaldinho, Kaká, Robinho?
IMO Robinho hasn't "brazilian skills" but I guess is better than other that were in the WC. Maybe he had sometimes in the past but not now. Is it possible a team with Neymar and Ronaldinho together in the field?
BTW I'm a big fan of Ronaldinho. From the greatest brazilian players I saw (live not videos so Pele, Garrincha, etc are discarded here) I think he is the best. Bebeto, Romario, Ronaldo, Rivaldo (too conceited but what a player!), Roberto Carlos (I guess this is the best player alltime/worldwide in his position), Cafú and many others Ronaldinho is the best.

The problem was more tactical and about some chooses: Felipão don't called two of best brazilian players: Miranda (defender) and Felipe Luis (left back). Rafinha is more reliable than Daniel Alves (a avenue) and the old Maicon. The team was made to play depending of Neymar (our best player), but Neymar was injured and there are no alternatives to build a team. And Brazil don't have any real midfield. The CBF is very arrogant saying what there is nothing to learn with europeans like Germany, France and Spain (before 2013). They don't know what the brazilian football style came from Uruguay before the Scotland and the progress to 50s came from the hungarian genius Béla Guttman, who coached São Paulo and teached Vicente Feola, the coach of 1958.
Ronaldinho Gaúcho could be an alternative to play on Oscar and Hulk positions and call the game without Neymar. Kaká was not playing well before june (he played well after WC). Robinho could be a option to be a false 9. Fred and Jô are very out of level to be the "9". Jô appeared on WC because the goals for Atlético Mineiro, but the good players on his team was Ronaldinho and Diego Tardelli what now gone to China. Tardelli (second name was given after Italy's Marco Tardelli) is with almost 30 years and is a very complete attacker, very paceful who plays like winger and striker.
Trivia: Diego Tardelli's father is Tadeu Martins, very good midfielder who played for Londrina and Paraná Clube on 90s.

it is a generic term for cheese in Romania - I remember we were shopping around in a supermarket two years ago, my friend told me to buy cascaval cheese because it is very tasty - soon we realized all locally produced cheese on offer had the word cascaval written on it :)

Hmm the guy on the right it Rivaldo. The one with a hat is a very young Bebeto??
A young Cafu, Zetti (goalkeeper) , Ronaldão (centre back) and the young Rivaldo.
Bebeto is not in photo and is older than all this four players.
Cafu born in 1970, Zetti in 1965, Ronaldão in 1965 too and Rivaldo in 1972
The year of image: 1993.

Hahahhaha, congratulations! It's always nice to see a defeated romanian team.
The victory goal was scored by a brazilian player with serbian nationality.
Yes, that's the "trick" they use. Mind if Spain called Messi to the national team before Argentina.
"Often referred to as an Argentine-Spanish player, this crossover was brought into sharp focus when in 2004, Lionel was offered the chance to play for the Spanish national U-20 team. He declined the offer given his Argentine heritage, and was given the opportunity to play for Argentina's U-20 team in a friendly match against Paraguay in June 2004."
The Cléo's case is that he's never was on the aim of Brazil. He played for six months in Red Star and about three years in Partizan, then became serbian too and almost gone to Serbian International Team, but more two years living in country was needed. In Brazil he's not well knowed. He's 29 and will make 30 years in august:

just LOL.
Whatever, let's talk about football. :D
It's a bit of a problem to joke with black people being more like animals, because this exact misunderstanding has been used in quite recent times to produce genocide, murder and slavery and it's still being used to enforce social oppression. The joke is not so innocent because it plays on an actually held belief which is causing actual suffering in the world right now and can only do so because the mythology that black people are less human than others is kept alive by the CTGs of the world.
But still, reactions are the same in the two videos, independently from any colors.

Viking Stavanger (team of the town where I'm currently living) is playing a friedly against AGF Aarhus right now. Viking's defence sucks, it's 0-2 to AGF in the 40th minute.

Yay :-) Good to see Jeppe Kjær scoring some goals. He's had a bit of a slow start in the league games. We've never had a direct game between Stunts pipsqueaks' teams. This is the closest we've come since AGF played vs Újpest in 1996.

No, Racing (Alan), Gimnasia (Chulk) and At. Rafaela (Aburaf) face each other at least twice a year.
We had a Györi ETO - Kazincbarcika duel in Hungarian Cup (few years ago).

I'm not Rotoi (despite what CTG will probably say) but if I can give my opinion, he's been a promising star for the last few days. Very fast, great technique, left footed, talented. Tends to lose his temper a bit. Overall a good player with potential to be a NT player, a potential he won't reach because he never finishes exploiting. Reminds me of Guti, the eternal raising start who never became one.
Yeah, just the same as Chulk. I hope he will exploid his potential but every year is almost there but not enough. It's like a coitus interruptus :D
Thanks guys! Not 100% encouraging but I'll try to remain optimistic. A talented winger could be a really useful addition to the squad right now.

Midtjylland or FC Kobenhavn?
It's hard to guess. From the current situation, I'd say FC Midtjylland is definitely the favourite. Of course FC København has the greatest potential, but it's been a while since they last played at their full potential.

Meanwhile, an absurd football story from Orbanistan, first class.
Paks vs Nyíregyháza was postponed from the autumn season because of weather issues. Since that, there was a huge player transfer at the guests during the winter break - they sold several footballists and bought some new ones. When they handed in the list of nominated players for their postponed match, the Hungarian Football Association refused it, because some of the players were not the members of Nyíregyháza team at the original autumn date of the match. What's more, they were not allowed to bring up some junior players as they had no licence to play in the adult team in the autumn. Therefore the guest had to set up a strange team with the reserve goalkeeper playing as forward. What's more, even the third goalkeeper was sent in as a substitute.
However, Nyíregyháza survived the match with 1-1.

Apropo, Juventus! I'm pretty sure that Del Piero would be still good enough to play in Serie A - at least as a joker substitution in the championship/Champions League and a permanent player in Italian Cup. Leaders in Torino were stupid enough to let him go.
http://www.the42.ie/where-are-they-now-juventus-1997-champions-league-final-1955921-Feb2015/ - a good article.
It also writes comments on the referee:
QuoteSo how did the underdogs, Dortmund, prevail? There was undoubtedly an element of luck — the Italians were denied two clear penalties and seemingly had a perfectly good goal disallowed, while their defence committed a number of sloppy, uncharacteristic errors.

I'm afraid Dortmund did not cheat at all. They played what they had to play - even if it was a cheat, the decision was made by UEFA and it came true by the refree's one-sided actions.
Bad luck for Juve and especially Chiellini, 2-0 would have been the fair result. Visiting Dortmund with 2-1, not a life insurance, but who knows... I hope we will win!!! :-)

I had sort of understood the Mennyei references due to Google Translate + context from your posts about NB I. But what the skid is biszem-baszom? ???
Biszem-baszom... quite a hard one to translate. ;D
Trollfoci is a popular football blog, creating several football memes (especially about Hungarian football). They started to use "biszem-baszom" for all foreign football leagues (and even for World Cup, Champions League, etc.), which is a funny sounding and slightly ugly expression for insignificant things (baszni means "to fu.ck"). Of course this is just irony. They used to caricature the Hungarian football in a very shameless way.
However, their main goal is to advertise the Hungarian national team and club football - that's why their slogan is "Say no to biszem-baszom!". It can be weak or corrupt, but still: it's our league. :D

Well... at least you guys are not the only ones blessed with a Heavenly National Football League :D ;D
The same in Brazil? :D
Even if Brazil is one of the strongest national teams, the domestic league doesn't seem to be half as good as La Liga or Bundesliga. Once I started to watch a Corinthians match, but couldn't stay awake, because the game was damned slow and boring, with static tricks*. ::) Of course still ways better than Hungary.
* Neymar was quite good in that when he played in BRA league - now he learned in Barca how to make less attractive, but more effective tricks while moving. But he's still far from Ronaldinho, who was the king of flip flap.

Mutatis mutandis, yes. Overrated players, wildly inconsistent teams (due to selling good players too quickly and/or plain mismanagement); slow and boring games (as you noticed) ruled by unimaginative, conservative tactics; a puffed-up and overreaching "Superior Court of Sporting Justice". Corruption and rule-bending were perhaps a little worse fifteen or twenty years ago, but we still have absurd situations like the Portuguesa/Héverton affair in 2013 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associa%C3%A7%C3%A3o_Portuguesa_de_Desportos#2013:_Promotion_back_to_A1.2C_STJD_issues_and_relegation_to_S.C3.A9rie_B).

Once I started to watch a Corinthians match, but couldn't stay awake, because the game was damned slow and boring, with static tricks*. ::)
Corinthians is actually playing decent football now that Tite (a much better manager than Mano Menezes) has returned, though they remain a patient, counter-attacking side. For the past two years Cruzeiro was miles ahead of everyone else as far as attractive football goes, but now they lost several important players, and I'm not currently following their games to see how they are coping.
Cruzeiro are on a reconstruction process after a lot of changes. I believe what this will be a transition season.
Corinthians is with the best team at this moment. Tite gave a personality for the squad.
São Paulo have good players, but does not have much collective consistency. Looks like a crowd of players.
Atlético Paranaense is giving the impression that will fight against relegation on National Championship: no good acquisitions to supply some exits and no new players for some weak sectors, like the defense and the creative midfielder sector. When Gustavo is the best team's center back, it's a advice that have several problems.
Incredible goal of Jhonatan, goalkeeper of Operário Ferroviário (Ponta Grossa), against Nacional (Rolândia):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2Un-xyRrkA
Ponta Grossa and Rolândia are two cities with malicious name in portuguese. Ponta Grossa means thick tip and Rolândia is the city of Roland (german warrior), but Rola is a therm for penis.

An interesting situation now with no English teams left and just one German team. Paris SG is the northernmost team left.

This table always tells the story: http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2015.html
Worst season for England in the past years, while the Italian teams show a very good performance related to the previous years. Germany is not running a bad season despite having only Bayern in the CL 1/4 finals. Another bad season for Netherlands, that is getting embarrassing for them. Great season for Croatian teams. Weakening performance by Portugal, improving performance by Kazakhstan, Iceland and Slovenia.

I must say Racing is getting an unexpected performance in this cup.

Thank you. I want to see winning all argentinian teams but San Lorenzo. From the 5 big teams they are the smallest in everything. Local league, international cups, fans, but they have the greatest ego. Sad fans they are.

In Denmark, it's a slow football season. FC Midtjylland is 11 points ahead in 1st place. FC København is 11 points ahead in 2nd place. In the bottom, two teams seem clearly marked out for relegation. Only the race for 3rd place is fierce.
But the whole season has been eclipsed by one great story: the story of Hobro IK, a team from a small Jutland town playing in the best league for the first time ever.
Now, Hobro is not like the other teams in the Superliga. They are a team of mainly amateur players. Their budget was low even for the 2nd best league. When they took 1st place in the 2nd league, everyone thought they would lose it before the end of the season. When they managed to secure promotion, they became the "certain relegée".
Now, with just 8 matches left of the season, the league table tells a different story:
When Hobro was promoted to the Superliga, they rallied investors from local enterprises and managed to raise enough money to upgrade their stadium for the minimum requirements and to buy one high quality attacking player. They bought Quincy Antipas from Brøndby. He's still the only foreign player in their entire squad.
Now, while bigger clubs with more money spend their transfer windows buying a whole handful of foreign players and sometimes end up having no success with any of them, the story of Hobro IK is that they spend all their money to buy just one good player, and Antipas has been playing better football at Hobro than he ever did anywhere else.
It had been about a couple of years since the days when FC København played a 1-1 draw with Guardiola's FC Barcelona in the Champions' League on this stadium and the days when they defeated Manchester United and Juventus here, but still it sent shockwaves out when Hobro IK returned to Northern Jutland with a 0-3 victory.
Here's Hobro on a map. It's the 24th biggest town in Denmark, accommodating 11,736 citizens.
After a surprise win in the 1st round and a few more good results, the media began to pick up the story about the "authentic" amateur team from Hobro. They were portrayed as carrying the true spirit of football, using humility, clever tactics, dedication and a sense of community to battle all the established and commercialised teams with more money.
Still, we all had a feeling that it couldn't last. They were riding on a wave of joy and partly luck, but when season really dug in, it would be clear that they were, after all, a much weaker team, and the fairy tale would come to an end. We all thought Hobro was a nice dream. But this has not happened.
Now that the dream is not ending, we have to start thinking about it in different terms. Maybe "club spirit" and organic development can really compete with bigger wallets?

This small group of fans has had a lot to celebrate during this season and the previous.
Wth 8 matches to go and a fantastic form - having beaten Brøndby IF just this weekend - Hobro IK has a real chance of finishing third and qualifying for the Europa League playoffs. At the same time, they have sold young forward Emil Berggreen to Braunschweig in the 2nd Bundesliga, and top scorer Mads Hvilsom is rumoured to have a price tag of 7,5 million DKK (~1 million EUR). No Gareth Bale, but a lot more money than the club at the small stadium in Hobro has earned before.
Another rumour is that FIFA has heard of Hobro IK and are planning to make a documentary about them.
Next round is at home vs leading team FC Midtjylland. Even if they lose, no one is going to think the dream is ending.
After 12 dark years, Juventus is in the Champions' League semi final! :D :D :D

Cool. To me he's just a local guy, you know ;). I've run into him on the street twice in the last year.
Also, he's a pretty good player. Just a turbulent career and some embarrassing nightlife scenes.

Messi-Suárez-Neymar is the most lethal partnership between Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil since the Paraguay War.
Haha nice analogy. Sad war it was. Thanks England again! :(
The poll in the header should have been closed long ago! Big congratulations to the pipsqueak voting for Barcelona in the last few days...
It's not over yet :-)
I'm glad Barcelona is winning even though I voted for RMA.
Who the fúck cares about RMA? They SUCKED!!! SUCKED!!! YES, THEY SUCKED!!! AGAINST JUVENTUS, yesterday. They might dry their tears with overtaking Barca in La Liga, but this is nothing related to Champions' League.
FOREVER JUVENTUS!!! :D :D :D
"Messi vs Tevez" says every journalist here. I like both but Messi is my fav.
It's the perfect final in the CL. Barcelona vs Juventus. So glad Réal Madrid, Chelsea, Monaco, Arsenal and Paris SG are all in the dark.
Now Suarez will play vs both Chiellini and Evra in the same game. At least Asamoah Gyan and Branislav Ivanovic don't play for Juventus...
What if Suarez plays against a "bitten team" with Chilellini, Bakkal and Ivanovic?

Nicest possible final by some margin indeed.
I want to see a final PSV vs Shakhtar :)
I want AGF vs Kazincbarcika.

Cruzeiro was thinking only in Libertadores and have a tendence to grow in competition. Flamengo is very unconstant. Vasco haven't a good team and they return this season from the Série B.

Blatter out of Fifa.
The new president must be the Senhor Waldemar
- Waldemar é o caralho!
- Vai comandar a Fifa por telefone!
What about the prince?
The Prince is Francescoli. :P One of the greatest players ever. I wonder if he's know between the europeans here. He played in Italy for example.

He's Zidanes idol. They only played one match at the Intercontinental Cup 96 (River Plate vs Juventus). In my opinion Francescoli is the best Uruguayan player all time.

I saw Francescoli on last carreer years. One of Zizou's son is Enzo after Francescoli.

Today: Barcelona-Juventus, European Champions' League Final. Any tips? I'm biased, so I won't say anything. 8)
It will either be a 4-0 victory for Barcelona or a 1-1 draw going into extra time.
Barcelona seems superior but you never know. I hope Barcelona will win. Messi and Mascherano are greater players than Tevez and more relevant for a team. But Tevez... I admire his ability to break a defensive strategy... alone. The number of "out of scheme" players is growing. It's like a new possition/hierarchy in a team. It's a kind of sweeper but from the attackers. Like the sweeper he's free of being in or out of the penalty area, he can play as a 9, 10, 7, 11, 8. I think he can rotate between positions in ephemeral time. Messi plays like that sometimes in Barcelona.
It's hard to define.

The CL final was a good match, really. Barca deserved to win because they were absolutely dominant in the first 20 minutes. Then it was an equal game, it could have gone the other way if Pogba gots his penalty at 1-1, I think the ref was wrong here. Really nice attack at Barca's first goal. I'm happy to see Juventus back into Europe's top teams after so many years of struggling after the calciopoli.
Watch the incredible goal of Bastía from Atlético Rafaela made today. Aburaf might be happy :D

Létavértes did not finish the season (16th)
Kisvárda can continue in NB II, the fate of other teams are not sure, Putnok got no license for NB II (though they could have the possibility to play there as first replace team of Pápa FC), the others will probably play in NB III. Except for Létavértes I think.

Atletico Paranaense played against Racing Club?
I believe what not. But River Plate was smashed by us on a Sudamericana Cup some years ago with a show of Jancarlos (RIP).
We should organize a league: Atletico Paranaense, Sao Paulo, Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, Atletico de Rafaela, Racing Club, Kazinkbarzika (or whatever).. who else?

Poor Kazincbarcika then... ;D
We need more teams:

About Zito, there are now only five remaining players from 1958 brazilian national team: Pelé, Zagallo, Dino Sani, Mazolla (José Altafini) and Pepe.

DEBRECEN (HUN) vs. FK Sutjeska Niksic (MNE)
Go Ahead Eagles (NED) vs. FERENCVÁROS BUDAPEST (HUN)
MTK BUDAPEST (HUN) vs. Vojvodina Novi Sad (SRB)
I think Debrecen and Videoton both have a good chance. Montenegrin club football teams usually do not take the Cup seriously, and their club football is not better than Hungarian either. Ferencváros and G.A. Eagles have 50-50 percent chance I think. The Dutch team has just been relegated to the 2nd division in their domestic league, they can only compete in the Cup because of fair play reasons. Vojvodina Novi Sad, which is the team of the Vajdaság (Vojvodina, ethnic Hungarian populated) region in Serbia, is I think the stronger side against MTK Budapest.
Very easy matches for the Danish teams so far:
FC Midtjylland vs Lincoln (Gibraltar) / Santa Coloma (Andorra)
Brøndby vs Juvenes-Doraga (San Marino)
Randers FC vs Sant Julia (Andorra) (cheering for Sant Julia in this match :-))
But of course the first and second rounds should be formalities and trouble will come in the third.

What a lucky draw, oh, my God! :-)
I will have to cheer for MTK and Videoton, too, but only to collect UEFA ranking points for Hungary.
Of course it would be great to see Videoton sucking against Tórshavn (not against TNS, because I hate British football) or MTK Judapest sucking against the Vajdaság club... but the victories are desperately needed for the country ranking points. http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2015.html

Congratulations. Our (SPFC) team isn't bad, but the defence is a shambles - hopefully it will be sorted out before it's too late.
(Apropos of nothing: Walter is awesome; you guys are lucky to have him on your side.)
The people understimate Walter because of his shape, but he is better than 99,9% fowards of Brazil. Very clever moving and pass and can play like a center-foward, left-winger, right-winger or shadow foward/trequartista.
This is funny:

I'm having trouble to decide who to support for both the World Cup (favourite team vs. favourite player) and the Copa América (eternal rivals vs. team propelled by unfair home advantage) this weekend. For the Copa América I am leaning towards Argentina, if only because it is absurd that Leo Messi has not won an international title yet.

Ferencváros - Zeljeznicar (BIH) 0-1 (0-0)
Ferencváros wasted all their chances, there were big pressure on the Zeljeznicar team, but they survived... and in the end, as it is always, they found a goal with a good shot... it will be very very hard in Bosnia, now their side is the favourite for reaching Round 3
Skonto Riga (LAT) - Debrecen 2-2 (1-1)
typical EL qualifier... Debrecen could have won the match, but they were just sleeping during the middle of the match... they woke up when it was 2-1 from 0-1 and equalized, what was essential for a relatively easy home game next week

Videoton - The New Saints (GBR) 1-1 after extra time (0-0, 0-1, 0-1)
Videoton advances to Round 3 (2-1 on aggregate), they'll face BATE Borisov (BLR)
Preparation match of Kazincbarcika:
Bogács (regional league team)-Kazincbarcika 0-6 (0-3)
Miserable performance from Ferencváros. Ferencváros' management paid 50 'security' men who travelled to Bosnia to avoid their real fan group to enter the stadium. Though even the Bosnian people helped the ultras to buy their tickets to the match. Their team, don't know why, showed just lame alibi football without any result, well deserved defeat.
Zeljeznicar Sarajevo (BIH) - Ferencváros 2-0 (1-0), Zeljeznicar is advanced to Round 3 (3-0 on aggregate)
Great performence by Debrecen who played a powerful and effective offensive football, paralyzing their opponent with it.
Debrecen - Skonto Riga (LAT) 9-2 (5-0), Debrecen is advanced to Round 3 (11-4 on aggregate)
Next round:
Debrecen will face Rosenborg Trondheim (NOR)
[ Videoton will face BATE Borisov (BLR) ]
9-2? Nice result.
Here in Denmark, we have lost Randers FC in a defeat to Swedish side Elfsborg. Oh well, they are my least favourite team in the country.
Champions FC Midtjylland will play APOEL Nicosia in the third round of qualifying for Champions' League group stage. It's going to be difficult. 35-65 odds. If they win, they are already secured a place in EL group stage.
Silver medalists FC København will face FK Jablonec from Czech Republic in the EL qualification. They should be able to win it, but only if they step up and play to their level.
Bronze medalists Brøndby will face Omonia Nicosia. Certainly the weaker team from Nicosia. Not sure about Brøndby's chances. But really we should be able to beat these teams from Cyprus.
Next round is when it gets interesting... I hope we'll get some Denmark vs Hungary matches :-)
Hungary will face POR, SUI, FAR, LAT, AND! Good group - to surely clinch 3rd spot! (WC 2018 UEFA qual.)
Videoton-Haladás 0-1
Debrecen-Puskás Akadémia Felcsút 1-1
Well, rumours might be true that Viktor Orbán is taking off his hands from Videoton and focusing rather on the top division team of his village, Puskás Akadémia Felcsút...

A Godzilla dancing with images of 1-7 with a Donkey Kong Country's song.
Two rather unlucky matches for the Hungarian teams.
Videoton - BATE Borisov/BLR 1-1 (1-0)
Even the Belarussian media admitted that their goal would have been disallowed due to a fault. A Hungarian goal was disallowed because of offside, though even the Belarussians said that it might have not been offside. Videoton played their best game this season. I can see some remained chance, because BATE Borisov didn't show anything special, I don't think that their team is better.
Debrecen - Rosenborg/NOR 2-3 (1-0)
The first RBK goal could have been prevented with an easy fault on the NOR striker relatively far from the goal... The third RBK goal was the mistake of the goalie... Very disappointing match, the draw would have been a fairer result. Nice free kick goal from Rosenborg (2nd goal). I don't think that there's a chance for Debrecen, two goal win would be needed in Norway at the home stadium of a stronger team...
NB I Round 3 (12 teams, 1 group)
Budapest Honvéd - Debrecen 3-3 (2-1) - equalizing during stoppage time!
1. Ferencváros Budapest 3 3 0 0 7:1 9

NB III Round 1 (51 teams, 3 group - 3x17)

Györi ETO FC (CTG's team) - Csorna 3-0
What happened to Györi ETO? Why are they playing in the third division?
Today:
AGF - Randers FC 3-2 (0-2)
Great day! Randers is the most annoying team in the league. Unfortunately the victory was in large part due to a fake penalty and two red cards for Randers (the first one being perhaps only a yellow offense). But no one will remember at the end of the season.
Now 7 points in three games for AGF. Too bad there's still 30 games to go :-)

Györi ETO's main sponsor, a travel agency called Quaestor, went bankrupt. The club could not deal with its debts.
By the way it is interesting that when a politically important (Orbán's asslicker is the owner of the club for example) club is in a situation like this, the club is always saved. For even less serious problems, Nyíregyháza, Pécs, Kecskemét was also not given a license for top division football. It is so ridiculous that all other clubs' management has something to do with FIDESZ.
Trouble in the third round:
CL:
FC Midtjylland - APOEL Nicosia 1-2
EL:
Brøndby - Omonia Nicosia 0-0 (Brøndby is also second-last in the league after three defeats in three games)
FK Jablonec - FC København 0-1
So we could easily have only one team in the play-off round.

Refinements:
1, Quaestor Group is not a travel agency, but an investment company - although they are also interested in travel sector.
2, Quaestor was not a sponsor, but the owner of the club (and the stadium).
3, After leaking the peculation and announcing the bankrupt of Quaestor, the main sponsor - Audi - finished supporting the club, because of its' sudden bad reputation.
4, Because of the insolvency of the club, the Hungarian Football Association (Orbán's asslickers) decided to relegate Györi ETO FC from the first class. Although there was a theoretical chance to save the membership (with a possible new owner), an "unnamed" club vetoed the proposal. As far as I know it was Újpest - the team which was in a similar situation few years ago.
5, Györi ETO FC became the "part" of the financially independent futsal club (also called ETO) - that's why they could start in 3rd class instead of 6th.
It should be noted that Gyirmót FC, which team is from Györ, is a top team in the second tier, and can easily earn promotion this year. And like it was about 10 years ago with Diósgyör and Borsod Volán, it can happen again. Diósgyör, being in trouble, sent down to lower division, but bought the license from Borsod Volán, another team from Miskolc. Later they became Diósgyör-Borsod Volán, later only Diósgyör. For today, Borsod Volán football club doesn't exist anymore.
Btw Pécs and Nyíregyháza, two cities between 100 000 and 200 000, having a good fan base related to Hungarian circumstances, absolutely did not deserve the exclusion, it was just pure politics. The owners were not the asslickers of Viktor Orbán. Kecskemét is also almost this case.

It is also the start of the big European Leagues, so I recommend to predict the final results of them as usual.
Let me start.
Serie A
1 Juventus
2 Roma
3 Fiorentina
Bundesliga
1 Bayern München
2 Borussia Dortmund
3 Schalke 04
La Liga
1 Barcelona
2 Real Madrid
3 Atlético Madrid
Premier League

2 Chelsea
3 Manchester City

La Liga
1 Barcelona
2 Real Madrid
3 Valencia
Bundesliga
1 Bayern München
2 Bayer Leverkusen
3 Schalke 04
Serie A
1 Juventus
2 AS Roma
3 AC Milan
Premier League
1 Chelsea
2 Manchester United
3 Arsenal
Here are the predicitons from Usrin.
Bundesliga:
1. Bayern München
2. Wolfsburg
3. Bayer Leverkusen
Serie A:
1. Juventus
2. Roma
3. Napoli
La Liga:
1. Barcelona
2. Real Madrid
3. Atletico Madrid
Premier League:
1. Chelsea
2. Manchester City
3. MU
Another disappointing year for Denmark. FC København is out after losing 2-3 at home to FK Jablonec from Czech Republic. Very disappointing.
Brøndby (currently in last place in the league) barely scraped by with a 2-2 away draw vs Omonia Nicosia. So they're in the EL play-off round, and if Videoton are there, then so is FC Midtjylland after being eliminated from the CL qualifier by APOEL Nicosia. So it's 0 teams in the CL group stage and either 0,1 or 2 teams in the EL group stage. In any case it's disappointing - unless of course some teams get exceptionally far in the EL.
I'm glad Videoton was eliminated, but it's a shame about Debrecen and Férencvaros.

EL play-off round:
PAOK Saloniki vs Brøndby IF
FC Midtjylland vs Southampton
It's kind of fun that FC Midtjylland drew Southampton because the Premier League is so familiar to me. But they're definitely going to lose. Brøndby has a chance, of course, but they're not looking like a team that can eliminated a top team from Greece.

Well, FC Midtjylland just went and knocked Southampton out of the EL, thereby qualifying for the group stage (1-1 in Southampton, 1-0 in Herning). So at least we have one team there. Brøndby was knocked out with a blast, losing 5-0 to PAOK Saloniki in Greece and drawing 1-1 in Denmark.
Last Sunday, I was in the crowd just behind the goal when this happened:

Vasco near of Urby Emanuelson. He's a Jorge Henrique who could talk with Mauricio de Nassau.
Parts of that post which I understood:
1) "He's a"
2) "who could talk with"
Some context:
- Vasco: One of the "big 4" clubs from Rio de Janeiro. Currently sitting deep at the bottom of the league table.
- Urby Emanuelson: Dutch winger that used to play for Milan. I have never watched him play.
- Jorge Henrique: Brazilian utility winger. Was once an important part of the remarkably successful Corinthians 2009-2012 squad. Looks somewhat like Emanuelson (and might be similar as a player as well, though I can't tell as I have never seen Emanuelson play).
- Mauricio de Nassau: Johan Maurits van Nassau-Siegen, Dutch nobleman. Governor of the Dutch possessions in Northeastern Brazil during the 17th century Dutch invasions.
All in all, a bizarre signing. It is even stranger than Santos signing Christian Ledesma.
Thank you! I feel that my comprehension of Leo's post has risen from 12% to about 60%. Still don't know why Vasco's new player would want to talk to a Dutch conquistador from the 17th century. Maybe he was a friend of the original Vasco da Gama?

Different eras. Vasco da Gama lived from 1460 or 1469 to 1524. Nassau lived from 1604 to 1679.

Something like 'kurva anyád baszd meg' have of course left my mouth, though I can't remember what exactly.
Hungary has only mathematical chance to directly qualify to Euro 2016.
Finishing as the best third placed team: low possibility.
Reaching the playoffs: quite reachable, only a home win over Faroe Islands is needed.
Hungary vs Denmark: maybe, but I think both teams would be seeded at the draw.
Leandro, who flopped in 2005 in Atlético Paranaense started the game.
The hungarian Wikipedia put his birth town as São Paulo-SP, but he was born in Cornélio Procópio-PR, near Londrina. Cornélio Procópio will have a team in Paraná State 1st Division next year, the PSTC, club what started in Londrina. Londrina is the main city of Paraná's northern region and was knowed as Worldwide Coffee Capital before the 1975's Black Frost.

So there is a Brazilian-born defender in the Hungarian NT who has fourteen caps, starting from 2004. Interesting, I had no idea of that.

As far as I remember, when he came to Hungary, he played as a midfielder. Later he moved back to be a defender.
He also played in the Champions' League group stage in the 2009-10 season for Debrecen (HUN).
At Hungarian level, he is a very good player.
He played the Libertadores in 2005 for Atlético Paranaense as a substitute. I don't remember the shirt number...
Neymar, with 23 years and 218 days, became the youngest player to reach the mark of 45 scored goals for Brazilian National Team.

Not really. Whatever might be said about Neymar, one can't deny he is a very good player, or that he is contributing vitally to the Brazilian NT at a very difficult phase in its history.
100% Agree. But I think he's (about performance, not goal quantity) far far faaaaar away from them and at least another 50 historic brazilians. Also Neymar is a fine player, a crack, a big cheater but also a great player.

really awful first half... I wonder what would have happened if there hadn't been for substitute forward Dániel Böde of Ferencváros...

Ranking of best third placed teams:

2 C Ukraine 7 4 1 2 11 3 +8 13
3 D Republic of Ireland 7 3 3 1 7 5 +2 12

I thought points earned vs the sixth seed, not the sixth placed team, were deducted...
It's gonna be a strange championship:
Iceland, Wales, Northern Ireland and probably Albania, but maybe no Netherlands.

It is always the sixth placed team, I guess. At least it is at this qualification series.
Greece - I think they are cheating their matches for some reason - ensured their 6th place in the Hungary group with losing to Northern Ireland. 3 points behind the Faroe Islands, twice losing against them earlier.
Last match on Sunday for Hungary: Greece - Hungary

That is slightly alarming...
With Turkey's victory today, the Dutch disaster seems very realistic.
Denmark's fate will be sealed tomorrow, when Albania plays Armenia in Yerevan. Albanian victory = playoffs
Draw = direct qualification
Armenian victory = direct qualification
As far as I can see, the only way Hungary can fail to qualify directly is if Ukraine beats Spain in the last round while Slovakia beats Luxembourg. Hungary's own match is irrelevant in this matter. It only has any significance if Romania fails to win against Faroe Islands, in which case Hungary can qualify with a win, regardless of what happens in Kiev.
Denmark has the only one Lord Bendtner.
Yes but nevertheless we've played all our games and only scored 12 points.
After a deeper analysis, I have found that Hungary will also miss direct qualification if Turkey beats Iceland while Kazakhstan beats Latvia. In that case, Turkey will score a massive 7 points for the table of 3rds in the last round, seeing that Latvia will finish last in the group instead of Kazakhstan and Turkey has two victories vs Kazakhstan and two draws vs Latvia.
If we simply forget about Denmark's 5-team group for a moment and just compare the actual points of the 3rd placed teams without arbitrarily deducting points, we can see that Slovakia/Ukraine and Norway/Croatia have both earned more points than Hungary, as will Sweden.
To complete the irony, Hungary may actually end up having earned the LEAST points of all 3rds (except Denmark who has played two less matches) and still qualifying directly as the best 3rd.
Well, and Hungary also scored the least goals of all 3rds, not counting Denmark. (Scored goals/match: Denmark even worse.)
I watched the Greece game and I was partially happy to see the team finally scoring goals... though the defence was miserable...
However, the coach took off the field our best players when he saw Romania is leading against the Faroe Island. This meant that this match is not important for us anymore.
Btw I think Latvia will not lose their home game against Kazakhstan, I'm more afraid of Ukraine beating the Spanish B team...

Very disgusting attitute from Diósgyör Miskolc II in the NB III East game. Because of the national team weekend, there was no NB I round. Diósgyör sent four players from their first team (NB I team) against Kazincbarcika, including national team player (36 caps), Ukranian-born Vladimir Koman. Many young people in Kazincbarcika cheer for Diósgyör, because they don't remember the old rivalry from the 80s-90s, so the relationship between the two clubs is rather good now. Between Kazincbarcika and Miskolc there is only 20-25 km. Still they wanted to send their far the strongest B team this year against us. The result was 1-1 in Miskolc, and their coach said that they desperately needed this point... Why? I can't understand... By the way with this, they also helped their eternal enemy, Nyíregyháza Spartacus, stealing points from us... Well, today I'm going to attend the ice hockey match between Diósgyör Polar Bears (formerly Miskolc Polar Bears) and Ferencváros Budapest, but I'll rather be a spectator than a supporter...
1. Nyíregyháza Spartacus 11 11 0 0 31–5 26 33
2. Cegléd 11 9 0 2 26–8 18 27
3. Kazincbarcika 10 8 2 0 22–5 17 26
4. Cigánd 10 8 1 1 32–8 24 25
5. Jászberény 11 5 1 5 22–15 7 16
6. Rákosmente Budapest 10 4 4 2 23–15 8 16
...
16. Diósgyör Miskolc II 10 1 1 8 9–25 -16 4
Ukraine - Spain 0-1 (0-1)
The Spaniards managed to win even with their B team, though a penalty was missed by them and De Gea had to show some great saves to earn all three points. For Hungary, one Spanish point would also have been enough.
Only two things are needed now:
- Turkey should not win against Iceland OR Latvia should not lose Kazakhstan (the latter is more possible)
- Hungary should not be punished by a point deduction for racist behavior against Romania (first we got only a match behind closed doors penalty)
Nice names of Madagascar. Speakers are afraid of this team:

Turkey will attract more supporters. UEFA needed them more than Hungary on the tournament... Those who watched the LAT-KAZ game said on Hungarian sports forums that it was suspicious...
By the way, Hungary did not deserve the direct qualification. But when Iceland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Albania, Austria, Slovakia qualifies... well, after so many (30) painful years, we could have given the opportunity to participate, too...
I think too many good teams are in the playoff round, Hungary has only around 10-15 percent chance...
Hungarian ice hockey team qualifies for the world championships... Hungarian women's volleyball team qualifies for he European championships... Hungarian futsal team qualifies for the European championships... everything could happen, but the descendants of the Magical Magyars just always fail to do something worthy to be remember...
So.... Hungary, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Bosnia, Ireland, Ukraine, Slovenia.
All of almost equal strength. Maybe Sweden and Ukraine are a bit stronger than the others.
Hungary is ranked above Denmark in UEFA's rankings, so you will play Denmark, Slovenia, Norway or Ireland, while we will play Hungary, Sweden, Ukraine or Bosnia. I have to say I'd prefer Hungary...

What a shit draw :'( Possibly the best team, and it also means no chance of both Denmark and Sweden at the championship.
At least we've had a good grip on Sweden during our latest games.
And at least I just saw a poll in a Swedish tabloid which had over 50% saying Sweden's chances were 40/60 or less :-)

His latest spell at Fluminense does suggest there is little point in carrying on, unfortunately.
I wonder where will be his retire match. It must be a worldwide tour, where somebody doesn't like him?
How many times did he played against Argentina in major team?
Let's the the stats:
Played 8 times against Argentina in adult international teams' games
Brazil won 4 games, Argentina won 3 games and one draw game
He scored once against Argentina (2005, on Confederations Cup decision, when Brazil won by 4-1)

This weekend's Brazilian Série A round is an important one. Atlético Mineiro v. Corinthians will be Atlético Mineiro's last shot at challenging Corinthians for the title, while São Paulo v. Sport is a key opportunity for our demoralised squad to regain momentum and keep fighting for a Libertadores spot.
This picture makes me wonder:

Do you remember Maradona's "Gol del Siglo" goal in 1986? Do you remember Messi did the same goal against Getafe in 2007? Then Luciana Aymar did the same goal in 2010 Hockey World Cup.
Can we say this is a kind of Argentinian goal?

Yesterday São Paulo lost away to Cruzeiro, playing abjectly. It is also annoying that Liverpool lost in a silly way to Palace at home, though at least they have something to look forward to. On the bright side, Chelsea and Real Madrid have lost as well...

São Paulo signed a lot of Atlético Paranaense's former players in last years. Now is signing the human resources methods: a lot of coachs per year.
Atlético Paranaense this year: Claudinei Oliveira, Enderson Moreira, Milton Mendes and now Cristóvão Borges.

Gábor Király is playing in old-school training trousers. They were old-school even when we saw him first two decades ago. They are not pajamas. They are always grey and it is a mascot for him. Every goalkeeper has some ritual things or a mascot which brings his luck, it is the one for him.
There are many reasons of the low attendance of the league games. First I think the level of the game, the lack of enthusiasm of the players. They earn a lot of money even if they play just alibi football. Young players go to party instead of training. The level of training is also low, therefore they start with a handicap even at the beginning of their career.
Of course another factor is hooliganism, with the increasing political and economic crisis and poverty in Hungary, the fans started to blow out their anger in the stadium. (Now the situation is even darker, deeper with installing the vein scanner system in the stadium and the punishment of the chanted rhymes even with the lowest bad words.)
Most of the sports fans choose another sport to watch, because there they can see higher level or more enthusiastic play. For example I attend ice hockey matches instead of football.
20-30 years ago Hungarian fans walked in the jersey of their favourite Hungarian team. Now they rather buy jerseys, relics of foreign teams (especially Barcelona, Real Madrid or a team from Premier League). But I think this is only the consequence of the factors mentioned above. The same for the ticket prices: due to the mentioned factors, they are of very bad price/value ratio.

Good match yesterday! Sweden-Denmark 2-1. I think the Danish were too afraid of Ibrahimovic. But after he scored the disallowed off-side goal, Denmark worked a lot for the away goal and scored it, deservedly.
Today: Hungary-Norway. I am trying to win back my money, put 2500 HUF on the Norway qualification, 3.25 is the odds. If I win, my balance will be +625 HUF after the two matches. If I lose, I only lose an extra 2500 HUF, but I will be able to see Hungary on the European Championships.
It's like you're trying to pay your country into the finals :-)
One annoying thing about these play-offs is that the four teams I hope qualify are playing each other while I don't care about any of the last four teams.
But I guess I'm cheering for Hungary tonight because if Norway and Sweden both qualify and Denmark doesn't, that's even more shameful for us.

Btw there are too many teams I like in the playoffs: Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Bosnia... and Ukraine and Slovenia also neutral... don't like: Ireland... somehow I'd put 7 teams into the ECH from the playoffs and miss 3 teams from the qualified ones, maybe England, Germany and Slovakia...
And maybe also the Netherlands and Serbia instead of Northern Ireland and Wales...
Somehow I can't hate the Romanian team, they play a good fotball. And all other teams are okay.
I think it's interesting that you prefer Romania to Germany and England. As I see it, there are certain teams that I really want to qualify for any tournament whether I like them or not, because they have too much history and identity, so the tournament feels empty without them: England, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands (:-() and Brazil and Argentina in South America.
Dzsudzsák REALLY wanted to play the Euro 2016. Congrats!
Congratulations! It will be nice to finally see Hungary at a finals!
Finally, a big tournament will be held for 24 European teams! And we managed to qualify to it!
By the way, it is the 4th time when Hungary finishes among the 24 best (European) teams at the qualifiers since I watch them.
Euro 2016 - 21st place (with two wins, no-one can overtake us in the "best 3rd place team" rankings)
World Cup 2014 - 21st place (3rd best 3rd place team after the 9 group winners and 9 runners-up)
Euro 2012 - 21st place (best 3rd place team after 2 hosts and 9 group winners and 9 runners-up)
World Cup 2010 - 29th place (2nd best 4th place team after the 27 group winners, runners-up and 3rd place teams)
Euro 2008 - 39th place (2nd best 6th place team after 2 hosts and 35 group winners, runners-up, 3rd place teams, 4th place teams and 5th place teams)
World Cup 2006 - 28th place (3nd best 4th place team after the host and the 24 group winners, runners-up and 3rd place teams)
Euro 2004 - 33rd place (2nd best 4th place team after the host and 30 group winners, runners-up and 3rd place teams)
World Cup 2002 - 28th place (best 4th place team after the 27 group winners, runners-up and 3rd place teams)
Euro 2000 - 35th place (6th best 4th place team after the 2 hosts and 27 group winners, runners-up and 3rd place teams)
World Cup 1998 - 20th place (worst 2nd place team after the host and the 9 group winners)
Euro 1996 - 31st place (4th best 4th place team after the host and 24 group winners, runners-up and 3rd place teams)
The number of entered teams did not significantly change, all the qualifiers were after the collapsion of Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia.
So not the fact that Hungary has qualified is the surprise, especially if we see the 2012 and 2014 results. The surprise is the fact that we managed to play well in the playoffs and eliminate a team which consists of better players. There were better teams in the playoff (Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, Norway, Ukraine, Bosnia) than several qualified ones (Iceland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Albania, Austria, Slovakia), that's why the playoff was harder than it had been thought before.
Congratulations to Hungary :)
Now I'll start biting my nails for Tuesday...

One round is remaining from the autumn season. We will play home against last place team Nyírbátor.
Hungary is in Pot 3 as Ireland qualifies!
That inspired me to perform a draw. I counted with Denmark and Ukraine.
I followed the rules: France in Group A, Russia and Ukraine can't be together in a group (update: now I see that they are in the same pot, no problem with that).
The result (Excel randomized, very first run):
France Croatia Romania Albania A
Portugal Switzerland Czech Republic Northern Ireland B
Germany Austria Hungary Republic of Ireland C
Spain Russia Poland Iceland D
England Italy Slovakia Turkey E
Belgium Ukraine Denmark Wales F
Interesting to see, tonight; Colombia going into a qualifying match vs Argentina as the bookmakers' favourite.

Why Neymar kicked that way the penalty against Roma? Why is so arrogant in a 5-0 game? Barcelona jersey is too much for him. He's a spectacular player but his attitude still is a 12yo kid. arrogant and diver.

Well, Nyíregyháza have an NB II strength team and they will be playing at their home stadium, so this game must be a tough one for Debrecen! ANTI TIRPÁK COMMANDO forever!!! :D
Independiente 0 vs Racing 2
Eternal rivals for the last room to Libertadores Cup. :D The next 90 minutes we are local ;)
BTW it's the only case I know in the world that the rivals are literally in front of each other.
There is a spare football field in the middle for battles between the hardcore fans and a hospital nearby for injuries. Very convenient!
Now looking closely I realise many "accident football names" around the stadium. Bochini and Corbatta streets are of course retired players, doesn't count but let me list them:
- Hospital Fiorito: Maradona born in a neighborhood called Villa Fiorito.
- Velez Sarfield street (and Diaz Velez street too): Velez Sarfield is another football team from Argentina.
- Colon street: Colon de Santa Fe, another argentinian team
- Raul Sagol street: "gol" means "goal" in spanish.
Just wow! :o

Why do you always profess that some injustice is being done to you, Akoss?
Last European Championships, Germany got in the "group of death" with Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark. England had France, Ukraine and Sweden. Last time they participated in 2004, they had France, Croatia and Switzerland.
Fantastic draw for Hungary.

Double-digit results are very rare on the top level. Actually I don't remember any of them, except Germany vs San Marino a few years ago. But that's different because Rayo Vallecano would beat San Marino at least 5-0 any day of the week.
Of course two red cards was the deciding factor. It's just the kind of thing that happens once every decade or so.

Indeed! The closest ones I can recall are ManU 8 x 2 Arsenal and Bayern scoring nine at the Bundesliga a few years ago.

Bad groups tend to happen to you a lot more when you're not part of the Top Teams bowl, obviously.
I think Group C and D are the toughest. Many people think Spain will easily win its group but considering their current level and how they did last WC, anything can happen. Even them leaving in round robin stage. Turkey, Croatia and Czech Rep. have the skills to beat Spain and each other, so this group will be very exciting!
Remember World Cup group D: England, Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica. The last two classified.
And I said in the draw: "poor Costa Rica" and they was first place in group...
