Title: Teams for 2023
Post by: dreadnaut on December 05, 2022, 11:41:33 PM
I know, this season is not over yet, but it's a good time to thing about teams for 2023! (see 2022 (https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=3881.0))

Would you like to join a team, or start a new one? This is the place to discuss and look for friends :)
It's also the right thread to confirm existing teams, or any changes.

We will still think about that, but if my comrades agree, I guess we are going to confirm Rolling Stunts with the present roster.

Just a possible score bug, of which I talked about in the shoutbox: it seems that this year the 12th place does not give points for the team standings.
In ZCT247, ZCT248, ZCT252 and ZCT256 the 12th placed is either the first or the second of his team, but he does not contribute to the result (he should contribute with one point).
Maybe the cutoff for which if < 1 point is awarded to a player (i.e. if a rac3r does not place itself in the first 12) no team score is awarded (in order to avoid practically useless decimals in that ranking) is implemented as ≤ 1 point, or something like that...

I agree, so roll on! :)

You are precisely right

      $teamResults[$teamId][] = $points > 1 ? $points : 0;

That's now fixed, and the scoreboard updated. Could you double check the numbers?

It is nice to reverse engineer the code on the fly. Unfortunately I do not possess the same ability for the whole Stunts... ;D

Yes, the numbers are now correct, thanks.  ;)

To me, also, it's good to continue the same way, so I'd remain in the same team

Alright, it seems like everyone agrees, so rolling stunts is confirmed for next season 😜

Thank you for confirming!

Any new teams rising to the challenge?

Maybe new teams will wait to form in the beginning of the season.

I think DPS will maintain the roster for next year. Maybe we could "adopt" a newbie to fill the 4th spot but we should talk in private first ;)

Hello,

I am considering making or joining a team.  :) However, I am a bit reluctant since that did not work ou too great in the past. Just thinking out loud, un random order:

- The team should have clear rules, i.e., do we share all replays or only up to the quiet days etc. Just to avoid misunderstandings and frustration. ;-)

- I do,unfortunately, not know how many races I will race. Judging from the past just a couple per season before I lose motivation. And my family situation surely does not make it easier.

- I am quite good at finding shortcuts and making crazy stunts. So I hope I could be a valuable asset for the less experienced drivers here.

To sum up, having me in a team is a mixed bag with advantages and disadvantages. Not sure I would hire myself to be honest. ;D
Anyone interested?

We're already four, but I should mention that your CV sounds good, ha, ha... You definitely should team up with other pipsqueaks!

Thank! And yes, unfortunately your team is already full. So I will have to wait and see if anyone else is interested. 8)

You might have to take a proactive approach, and contact people directly: Slowdrive is down to two members; Zapper, Heretic, Erik and Stan are often around but team-less; Shorty is also back on the track!

Plus Argammon.

Proposed teamname: Zaptic Shortamon.
It's an electric type from gen 12.

He would lose grip on dirty for sure, because ground is super-effective on it... 😂

Unless, like Zapdos, it has flying as second type... 😏

After careful consideration and some good an honest communication within the team i have decided to step out.

I have limited time, and I would like to spend the time that I have on building cars, researching the code, building (or managing the building) of mods.

But most importantly. I want to spend more time on the Custom Cars Competition (and fixing bad cars) and promoting Stunts.

I would be honored if Argammon would be willing to take my place in the team.

Hello, sorry you all for my late pronounce on this subject.

I am glad for all your encouraging attempts in order to make me consider to be part of a ZakStunts competition team, but for now I wish to stick as a solo competitor, I like to learn by my self the tricks and skills to become better driver in Stunts without compromise (I already know that it's a hard challenge).

Also, like Daniel3D stated, I have some other Stunt's non-competition plans. My time in next season should be spend more on custom car projects that I previously wanted to accomplish ;)

Glad to have shared a team with Daniel3D and to receive Argammon. I will also try to dedicate some more time other Stunts-related projects this year, as I've been pretty busy lately. Soon, I'll be unemployed for some (hopefully not too long) time, so that should allow me to do more.

I'm happy for Argammon to join Rolling Stunts. :) Provided afullo agrees, which I'm sure he does, I'd say it's a done deal.

I don't know if it's possible to join a team now that the season has started, but I'm available and would love to join a team. I'm not a good driver but I intend to participate in every race and try to learn along the way.

You can join or form a team at any point during the season. Good choice! Hope you find one.

Hi everyone!

A little late, as we've been participating as a team for a few weeks, but I'd like to officially announce the presence of team DOS Game Club!

We are a group that spends each month playing one of a wide variety of DOS games, then discussing it in a podcast.
https://www.dosgameclub.com/

DGC co-founder Tijn, and fellow members DJ_HiP and myself have been driving in the last couple of ZakStunts races. Tijn and I have also tried R4K. We're really enjoying the creative way the races are run, and love how welcoming the community has been! And great to see us mentioned in the Stunts wiki. We're humbled to be part of the official history of this game.

Tijn has also made a DGC leaderboard for freestyle NoRH races.
https://www.dosgameclub.com/stunts-leaderboard
We've made some tracks and have been joined by Marco and Cas, whose amazing laps have spurred us on to improve our skills!
We fully intend to continue our participation (and our leaderboard) after the podcast airs. If it's ok we may ask around here for volunteers to join us in the recording, and we'll let you know when it is available.

Once again, thanks to you all for this amazing community, which we hope our team adds to.

@Spoonboy, thank you for your kind words and once again, welcome to the community!  It's an honour to have you join our competitions.  I'm looking forward to the podcast and also keen to join you for the recording, so please let me know if I can assist in any way. :)

Heya @Spoonboy 👋
I was just digging through the DGC archives, awesome project y'all have running! And always great to see retro-gaming communities collide and have fun together :)

For a very different Stunts experience, don't miss our live endurance races (https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?board=103.0) (next one (https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=4057.0) in early August).

I could also add the DGC leaderboard to the portal (https://stunts.hu), if you send me a brief description and details. (Also, APIs (https://github.com/dreadnaut/stunts-portal-api) to go full nerd, and useful libraries (https://github.com/dreadnaut/phpStunts))

Quote from: Spoonboy on June 28, 2023, 02:53:51 PMIf it's ok we may ask around here for volunteers to join us in the recording, and we'll let you know when it is available.

We're quite excited about that ;D  I've opened a new thread (https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=4147.0) to coordinate 👍

Hey!  I have already more or less replied in the new thread. But anyway, I happily second all dreadnaut has said. We're communities that have lots in common and it's great that we can cooperate. I had already added the DGC Leaderboard to my chronology graph that I was going to update in the wiki at the end of the year. You do have another tournament going!

Now, the Leaderboard is more like our Permanent Competition (https://www.raceforkicks.com/index.php?page=records) than the style of our monthly tournaments. I think races don't have a deadline, right?  And several can run simultaneously. So to show this at the Portal, some adaptation should be made because it presently shows the current race and deadline. Anyway, there're many ways to do this
