ROTOI: FINISH THE MELANGE PROJECT!!!
Quote from: zaqrack on July 17, 2012, 04:17:12 PMIts your car, it would be the best if you would finish.
Ok guys I'm working hard to finish my work after (almost) 19 year :o . The 3d shape is almost done and the dashboard is about 40%. I'm so excited because it looks great! Also I want to thank CTG to imagine and build a shape for this car. I must finish the work. By the way, the cars statistics or its performance won't be changed.
Here is a teaser just for kicks ;) ;D Enjoy!

Haha didn't know that! It was destiny ;D
If I were to go back to 1993 when I just got my first PC and I could carry only one diskette of data from today, I'd save the Melange in it! Looking forward to seeing more about it :D

Wow,
it's very good. A beautifully created edition.
Great video! The part when they split and take separate ways.... :'(
The new shape looks great and still preserves the essence of the old one!

Thank you! The model made by CTG was excellent so I modified it to make the sense of evolution. About the farewell, yes it's inspired in fast & furious 7 ;D
The updated model does look nice! :) The one suggestion I have is for the order of the car colours being kept as close as possible to the one in the previous model, so that colour choices in old replays are for the most part retained. If need be, the most recent version of Stressed I posted about a while ago has a command to easily reorder car colours.

Ooh! I didn't take it in mind! I'll reorder to the previous order. Meanwhile I'm working in the dashboard.
New dashboard in progress...
- A dark blue dashboard
- new font for digital speedometer
- white numbers
This part is quiet slow at least I'll show a prototype.
Wow! It's going to look amazing.
Wonderfull dashboard !!!!!

It's beautiful, but I kind of liked the idea of a proximity sensor on the old one.
So I will keep a backup of the old one in one of my stunts versions. Hard to let go of it ;)

Honestly the left part is only graphics. The main part of the the dashboard is the digital speedometer and the rpm. I'm trying to make it "more realistic" but the dashboard is under construction so I'm opened to suggestions and new ideas. Also for the rest of the dashboard.
BTW about dimensions, how is the maximum height of every part? And what's the "transparent" color?
Transparent color is black in indexed bmp for the the dast and insX. White for dasm and inmX.
Alan... what do you mean about maximum height of every part? I'd like to help
About transparency, Ryoma is correct. To be more specific, it seems to me that Stunts uses a masking strategy that works like this:
- First, take the mask image and apply it via an AND bitwise operator
- Then, take the graphical image and apply it via an OR bitwise operator on top of the previous result
So what you normally do is use colours 255 (for "keep old pixels") and 0 (for "replace with image") in the mask and use colour 0 in the image to make sure it does not modified the non-zero pixels when you OR it.
If my speculation is correct (and it very likely is, because this is the most intuitive way to produce a simple mask that's really fast on old computers), then using a colour other than zero in the graphical image would cause the colour indices to merge resulting in values that you most likely don't want, but... this might be exploitable if you know what you're doing. Using colours other than 0 and 255 in the mask could also be used for similar purposes, but it would be more difficult to make that useful. Stunts palette is not organised in powers of two, so nothing very beautiful can come out of this, I think.
The new dashboard looks great! :) As I've said before, creating the dashboard can be a very tedious and time-consuming process.
- 3d shape finished
- paintjob fixed
- dashboard finished (99%)
Test driving the car. I don't show the compete dashboard yet because it has some easter eggs ;D It will be revealed soon!
I'm looking forward to try the complete new Melange!! :D

That's probably the most annoying part of car editing. Nice work, Mr. Rotoi!
Dashboard finished! There are some special elements/details/improvements that you can find. Could you find them? ::)
That looks amazing! :D So far I have noticed:
- Satellite navigation with Stunts aesthetic.
- The "S" from the Stunts logo appears next to the air vents.
- The shield in your signature appears under the gear stick.
Are there any more?
You're doing great! Yes, there are more ;D
- Satellite navigation or "current" track
- The "S" from Stunts logo
- Meganium Aces High team logo in gearbox
What else? ;D There is something Daniel asked too.

Yep! And where used to say "Rotoi Racing" now it says "Melange XGT-88".
What else? ;) ;) ;) ;)
There's this view selector which displays the front of the car :)
Yep, that's the opponent proximity sensor :D
So, the changes and new features are:
- Satellite navigation or "current" track in the left side
- The "S" from Stunts logo
- Meganium Aces High team logo in gearbox
- The "XGT" in the gearstick remains but in a color that fits in the new design
- Roof: It say "19th" in the upper left and right corner and "Melange XGT-88" centered with new and different fonts
- New Font for the digital speedometer and light green color
- Dark Blue dashboard
- An opponent proximity sensor in the center console
I think that's everything ;D
After a validating test I'll publish the complete car. Just give me some days because I'm too busy with the work.
It's going to deserve another track in Race For Kicks!! :)

Great video! Just downloaded the car. You say it's better to use another copy of Stunts, but the performance parameters are compatible, right? So if I record a replay with the new one, it should still be compatible. Or am I wrong?
Thanks!
I really don't know. I recommended just in case. It's 19th anniversary because is mean to be used in 2022's competitions because of that. If there is no problem then we would replace it right now.

Great video! :) I've been looking forward to this. If you only changed the visuals and not the performance parameters (Including the operation of the gearbox) then it should be compatible. Only testing will confirm this though.
Thank you! Do you recognize the 3 songs of the video? ::)
Only visuals were changes so it should be ok.
Marco made a live test drive yesterday. Check it out!

- Loose Evaluation

Hi Alan,
Firstly let me give you the congrats for you nice work with this melange 19th anniversary model!
Please allow me to ask you this, are the power specs in showcase accurate?
From what I found in the previous model (using caredit3) it has 605bhp and the folowing torque curve (approximately):
Thank you Zapper! You're right the specs aren't accurate. Let me explain:
They are the specs from 2003. In those times there wasn't a tool to check those numbers so everybody just wrote fantasy numbers for their own cars. In Melange case: the cc and HP were aproximately numbers from Turismo Carretera cars. Also the maximum speed I wrote 216 mph in the game just to make a similar feeling of hte IMSA cars but in fact the maximum speed is 218 (it can reach 220 but suddenly drops to 218 so I take 218 as max speed).
Also the price of the car was a joke to make it super cheap opposed to the other custom cars that were super expensive. ;D
I didn't realize to add the data from caredit to make the video more accurate. It would have been cool to add them. Maybe in the presentation video of the next car... ;)
The torque curve is very strange with many steps.
Where can I found this caredit 3?
The latest release that I know of is from Zapper right here on the forum (http://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=3079.msg80264#msg80264).
I try one car of mine and I made a mistake of +5% on the torque and power. It's not a problem because I adapt the weight consequently in order to have the real value for 0-60mph, 0-1000m and when known 60mph-0 for brake.
Caredit seems cool for gear ratio.
Do you think it's possible to have a software which directly made a picture with a 3d view of the car and characteristics below. Like in the show room

KyLiE helped me to polish some details of Melange, some errors about lower detail colors, etc. This is the final version. I attached here and attached in the first message. Download and save this final version of the car ;)
Thank you!!

I found out that my son has a melange.

You can't export the wheels of course. But it won't take long to add them annually in a 3d editor. You will have to attach the wheels anyway.
I can do it if you want,

Alright. It will not be before Christmas I'm afraid.
Got late shifts until Christmas.
The dashboard was based (mostly) in these two pictures. There are more but I think they weren't that important. I had the idea of a dark blue dashboard since January 2016 at least :D
