Forget LM002 and Countach, this time we will have a pure Audi race for sure.

Not that long. And yes, it's a hard one. I wanted to make it even more difficult, but Zak modified that section because of some potential crying newbies. :D It was funnier with the small corners after the 180° banked corner plus ramp part - and quite different with each cars.

this track is made for PG, reaching PG in that big loop. non-PG cars are boring to ride on this track. :-/ maybe for ikarus it will be a challenge :D we could send the replays to public transport's HQs and let them see how bus drivers are driving sometimes..

But even with Audi... Do you think it's a boring list?
1, jump out of the corkscrew to the top of the tunnel
2, complete an inner loopcut
3, reach the top speed as soon as it's possible (magic carpet lovers, come on!)
4, try to survive the concrete blocks
5, fly as flat as possible
6, survive the jump-pipe-boulevard-concrete blocks combo (not an easy one!)
7, depending on the way you choose (but of course you choose the longer and faster), try to keep enough speed to have a decent finish with smart jumps from the loops
It's not boring at all. And not because it's my own track (I had several bad tracks in the past, this is not one of them)... I would rather say it's a bit overcrowded, not really suitable for live races. And blame Meganium for the car choice! If they used Audi last month, we could have a nice Corvette race this time. ;D

uhm, maybe Countach because of its poor handling would be fine. :)
the problem is that the track elements are hard to pass only with PG. with audi it is only about to reach a top speed soon enough and then go minute and half in 1-2 car wide corridor given by water, slalom blocks, need for right place to land at banked roads, corkscrews etc.

I've tried the **** *** ******* **** ****** **** *** loop jumps a hundred times now, and managed once to reach the finish line, with a lucky bug jump. The alternative is slowing down from 213 to ~40 and take the 20s normal road, 'cause there's water everywhere and you need to bleed from your eyes before you can go the friendly way and just hop from loop to roof to loop to finish >:(
I'll outsource the last 3s of my replay to India this month, and fart in CTG's general direction.

Total Commander, file view with F3, choose hex view. It's not that hard to find the "keypress log" in it (but Alain gave a hint several years ago, search for it).

Thinking it over again, I used it twice. Once for editing (USL 2010, Countach), once for replay analysis (BJ's ZCT55, cutting the bridge corner).

Actually it's worth to check. It seems to me that magic carpets are not that random. I don't say it's possible to find a general code for it, but some keypress combos can increase the possibility of bug jumps. It's something like there is a keypress method to complete a curve with IMSA cars over 175 mph, which can be identified from hex codes.
Or the above mentioned case with ZCT55: checking the codes, BJ's replay gave me a hint how to fly over the water with Acura. I tried it 431626 times in Stunts without success, then checked the hex code, saw the steering movements and tried to adopt it. Of course I couldn't reproduce it perfectly (I know it's impossible, since the first part of the replay, therefore the coordinates, directions and speed is completely different), but the similar steering style helped me a lot - completed the jump from ~10 tries.

Still no answer - why is hex editing forbidden?
And another question:
I have a replay driven up to time T I want to drive 05 05 05 29 29 09 09 09 01 01 01 (F1 heating tires procedure :) ).
plan A: take a hex editor and append it.
plan B: drive 05 05 05 05 05, rewind it 0.10, drive 29 29 09 09 09 09 09, rewind it 0.10, drive 01 01 01.

Is RH forbidden?!?!? ??? ;D
Okay, you mean by hexeditor. It's not forbidden, since it can't be proved. I would call rather call it an implicit agreement between the community members. The only way to reveal such an act is when somebody admits it.
Quote from: Friker on February 14, 2013, 12:29:08 PM
Still no answer - why is hex editing forbidden?
Because it is not driving. That is the point implicit in CTG's "nothing to do with Stunts" comment. Whether it is detectable or not is of secondary importance. Consider the possibility of a team mate driving the middle third of one's replay; under normal circumstances, that is undetectable cheating as well.
("What about RH?" would be a reasonable question at this point. But RH is not allowed just because it is undetectable. Unlike hex-editing, RH still is something akin to driving performed within the confines of the game. Furthermore, RH requires zero technical knowledge to use, and so the likelihood of it being used for cheating should it be forbidden would be much higher than that of hex-editing.)

From the driver's seat, my impression is that while the first magic carpet in a chain is random, the following ones come more or less naturally for carpet-prone cars as long as you don't disturb the input too much. Years ago I thought of a speculative explanation for magic carpets (this post, second paragraph after the first code block (http://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=2273.msg41717#msg41717)) which would be consistent with what we are saying here, though I guess it is too weakly supported to be taken seriously these days.

Magic carpets in the first part (roof of the tunnel), flat loopcuts at the end. The middle 70% is boring (21x mph, flying as flat as possible, etc.).

Yes, Dup! You made it clear you hate this track! No, sorry... that was me
At least it's not a Leo Ramone's track xD
Another evening wasted trying to land the last ******* jump >:(
edit: oh, it worked :P and again another nice last frame.
Interesting last frame... mine is a little more ordinary.
I would like to see the 14.00 screenshots... :D

Quite poor fantasy from a three times champ... :D
I was mostly referring to the GTO speculation. Even if it was possible, doing that would be against my interests. I would gladly accept defeat if the price of victory was yet another quasi-Audi race this season :o
I might be stupid 'cause I don't know what you meant by 14.00 screenshots ;)
The screenshots of your replay after 14 seconds of driving. That would show how many magic carpets you did on the tunnels roof. :D

Sure. But still, I hate this kind of pretended incomprehension.
Well... pretending something ironically in "Parody" topic is not so off.

Actually that's true about AW.
All-wheel (drive)?
This week also seems to be a busy one, I won't have (too much) time to race - maybe only in the last evening. Although it worked last month... :D

Smart dual-way switching. I was also thinking on that, but my manual drive magic carpet generator is not as effective as the automatized version of YF and MAH. ;D

It didn't save time anyway... I had my final replay both ways and taking the outter way turned out faster in my replay. Touching the grass before carpeting took away some speed, I think that's why it wasn't faster

More boring than expected. I overtook CTG at the final cut, and Chulk did the same to AbuRaf; other than that there were no overtakes after the first sector. Furthermore, Renato had all the best sectors, with only Akoss managing to match him on the third one. There is one interesting point about sector 4, however...

That doesn't seem right now - not only Renato's dual-way cut at sector 4 was rather similar to Rotoi's, only more acrobatic, but Alan had the second best fourth sector, only 0.15s behind Renato. For most of the involved pipsqueaks that would be enough for gaining one or two positions...
Conclusion: Poo is a piece of rusty crap. :D :P
(he'll kick my ass with lm002)
Thank you, Duplode. :)
