Better play JDoom! The Mouselook is better than in ZDoom, the graphics don't stretch that strangely, you can have real 3d models (for weapons, enemies, items...) and openGL graphics! :D
Then download some custom WAD files somewhere on the web, there is one called "rebirth" for DOOMII, it's really well-designed!
