Do you have any special or crazy idea to make something new in Stunts competitions? Tell it!
I just thought on new Stunts series with the name 'Human Factor', built on short special events with different unusual rules.
Just an example: weekly contest, where you can choose your opponent - if you made a good race last time.
Basic rules: we have 8, 10 or 12 pipsqueaks. Based on their WRL ranking the best 3, 4 or 5 pipsqueaks can choose an opponent, even from the best 4-6 pipsqueaks. After the weekly duels, two pipsqueaks suffering the biggest defeat (not the two slowest!) would be out of the race. Next week: the best pipsqueaks of the last round can choose the opponents again... At the end only 2 pipsqueaks will race, that would be the final of this game.
Sample:
WRL
1 CAP
2 Death Man
3 Bismarck
4 Mingva
5 Doelloos
6 Dayan
7 Koenovic
8 Short Cutfinder
First week:
CAP can choose first. He's brave and wants to kill his main rival, Death Man.
So Bismarck is the next to choose. He wants to make a warm-up week but wants to be fair too, so he picks Dayan.
Mingva's turn. He's tactical and wants Short Cutfinder.
Doelloos has no choice, he can fight Koenovic.
CAP - Death Man 1:10.20 - 1:11.05 (diff = 0.85)
Bismarck - Dayan 1:13.30 - 1:13.80 (diff = 0.50)
Mingva - Short Cutfinder 1:18.40 - 1:18.95 (diff = 0.55)
Doelloos - Koenovic 1:15.00 - 1:31.40 (diff = 16.40)
CAP made a good decision, he knocked out Death Man from the race (he has the second biggest loss, even if he has the second best time in overall), the other pipsqueak to leave is Koenovic.
Remaining pipsqueaks: 1 CAP, 2 Bismarck, 3 Dayan, 4 Doelloos, 5 Mingva, 6 Short Cutfinder
Second week: CAP continues his tactics and his next choice is Bismarck. Dayan needs an easy opponent, his choice is Short Cutfinder. Doelloos inherits Mingva for a dirty battle with the lithuan.
CAP - Bismarck 1:04.50 - 1:05.95 (diff = 1.45)
Dayan - Short Cutfinder 1:11.40 - 1:14.55 (diff = 3.15)
Doelloos - Mingva 1:05.30 - 1:09.10 (diff = 3.80)
This time Short Cutfinder and Mingva (:P) leaves the contest.
Remaining pipsqueaks: 1 CAP, 2 Doelloos, 3 Bismarck, 4 Dayan
Third week: CAP is still brave, he makes has a fight with Doelloos, Bismarck faces Dayan. Both of the losers will fall out.
CAP - Doelloos 1:21.45 - 1:22.80
Bismarck - Dayan 1:24.40 - 1:24.55
Doelloos and Dayan are out, final is coming.
Fourth week: sweet fruit of the brave tactics, CAP wins the title
CAP - Bismarck 59.45-1:00.20
Did you like this concept? Tell your own special competition idea too! ;)
Wow ! Interesting concept. Reminds me of "the weakest link" TV show.
Not a secret, I tried use some TV experience... ;)
Sounds interesting, but a little bit complicated.
I have been thinking about a competition idea too, that I would love for someone else to carry out: "Spectacular Crash Competition". The idea is that you can make your own track, use whatever car you want or make your own car, and you just have make the most crazy, spectacular, insane crash. Then the participants vote for the best crash (no voting for one's own, every pipsqueak sends his vote to competition manager). And that's just that.
Nice idea but too subjective...
CTG, your idea sounds like a reality show... :P
I like Bonzai Joe's competition and also looking forward to see it in action.
That's a nice topic... I had been wondering about expanding the Stunts league/cup concept (like USL or IMSA cup) to include home and away matches. It would work like this:
- Before the draws are done, each pipsqueak has to announce publically, Visegrad-style, a list of two or three cars to be used through the competition - either alternating each round or a certain number of rounds for each car. The driver would also choose the order in which the cars would be used, but without knowing the opponents of each round of course.
- Then the draws are made, for either cup or league, and the competition starts. Races would be bi-weekly: on the first week, each match between two pipsqueaks is done with one of their cars; and on the following week with the other pipsqueak car (thus, "home" and "away" legs). The final result is defined by sum of times.
- In case two pipsqueaks choose the same car for a certain round, SWR/WRL rankings may be used to decide who's got preference - the other pipsqueak has to switch the car for another of his list, and switch the new car for the old one if possible for a future round. Rankings may be used to decide who'll play "home" first - probably an advantage as well.
Complicated, isn't it? :P
Not that complicated and excellent. :)
I think the future of Stunts competitions are such shorter lasting special events. Great ideas!
The problem is that most of them would be so much more fun with really many pipsqueaks, and there are too few active pipsqueaks left...
Not too few! Check the number of pipsqueaks in 2007 and now. It's increasing! Community life is active again, we made several Forum records in January. I think this is the moment when right decisions can make Stunts world great again!
(optimistic post, once a year... :D)
I really like your ideas, sadly, I'm not that imaginative about new concepts. But I stand for everyone of your ideas!
The concept I talked about will be organized in the spring. ;)
great! :)
I hope this "great" means you will also participate! ;)
if you leave long enough periods, then hopefully yes. (1 week / race is not enough for me)
I'll participate (If invited of course!)
Let's say 2 weeks periods... :)
And yes, you will be invited Chulk! Everybody can take part in 'Human Factor' series. About BJ's crashing competition: it can be organized on the Forum too or with a ZSC subsite like TDC was.
BJ's crash idea reminds me of one idea submitted in Stunts part of the spanish-spoken Lukas' forum. It was without any success sadly. And I fear it will be the same here due to the lack of interest for "beauty" replays topic started a few years ago for example (and now in the "graveyard").
Another kind of short, but funny special event came in my mind, called Continents War. Brief introduction of the idea:
First, selection of 3-3 (or 4-4) drivers from Europe and South America with a qualification race. Then comes the main round with 3 races: all the Europeans should race versus all South Americans... Simple scoring: 1 point/victories. :) Of course there would be an individual scoreboard too, the winner will be the MVP of the tournament. :D
This one is a really simple concept but to make it absolutely clear for those who don't speak English:
Qualification - Europe
1 | Roy Wiegerinck | 1:04.55 |
2 | CAP | 1:05.00 |
3 | Doelloos | 1:08.20 |
4 | Tom Israels | 1:10.85 |
5 | Myron | 1:33.75 |
6 | Mingva | 1:34.90 |
Roy Wiegerinck, CAP and Doelloos qualified.
Qualification - South America
1 | Tsino | 1:04.20 |
2 | Inavoeg | 1:05.80 |
3 | Juank 23 | 1:07.45 |
4 | Vamologocomisso | 1:07.70 |
5 | Hek | 1:22.20 |
6 | Andre Geo | 1:30.80 |
Tsino, Inavoeg and Juank 23 qualified.
Main roundFirst race
Roy Wiegerinck | - Juank 23 | 1:22.80 | - 1:24.95 |
CAP | - Inavoeg | 1:21.95 | - 1:22.00 |
Doelloos | - Tsino | 1:25.40 | - 1:20.05 |
2-1 for Europe
Second race
Roy Wiegerinck | - Inavoeg | 1:11.10 | - 1:10.85 |
CAP | - Tsino | 1:13.45 | - 1:10.90 |
Doelloos | - Juank 23 | 1:15.40 | - 1:15.55 |
2-1 for South America, 3-3 in overall
Third race
Roy Wiegerinck | - Tsino | 1:07.80 | - 1:08.35 |
CAP | - Juank 23 | 1:11.75 | - 1:11.70 |
Doelloos | - Inavoeg | 1:14.60 | - 1:08.65 |
2-1 for South America --->
5-4 victory for South AmericaMVP scoreboard (based on number of victories, rankings with simple scoring like 6-5-4-3-2-1 or sum time):
1 | Tsino | 2-1 | 16 pts | 3:41.30 |
2 | Inavoeg | 2-1 | 14 pts | 3:41.50 |
3 | Roy Wiegerinck | 2-1 | 13 pts | 3:41.70 |
4 | CAP | 1-2 | 10 pts | 3:47.15 |
5 | Juank 23 | 1-2 | 6 pts | 3:52.20 |
6 | Doelloos | 1-2 | 4 pts | 3:55.40 |
Forumarcheology!
Sounds fun. The community is a bit too small to have people defend their country, so their continent is a good second. You could opt for another race system of course, just adding all the times and seeing which continent was faster, or a "normal" points based system...
Great idea (although we already now who'll win ;))

Argentina and Hungary could defend their own countries...
Maybe Denmark and Germany too... :D
Apart from Firefozie and me, any Dutch guys still active here? No? Rest of the Benelux perhaps?
I guess there are no other Benelux pipsqueaks although the traditions are strong in Netherlands: the great champion Roy Wiegerinck, his strong teammate, Ben Snel... and a bit later XDude_NL, Doelloos, Icecube - quite good pipsqueaks from the past.

And that's where my problems begin.
Besides, If I'dd manage to wake all them up than I wouldn't be needed to drive, where would the fun in that be? ;)
And if there is going to be a championship for countries I demand that they change the 3D files of their cars to add a national color scheme (to bad there's no orange, just some brownish stuff).
And finally as an addition to this topic: how about a "tournamette/tournette" (hereby introduced as a word for a short tournament) in which a team of 3 or 4 people has to drive 3 or 4 different cars? Let's say you'dd ask teams to designate experts for the indy, the jag, the countach and the audi. Then you would reveal the track and the team with the lowest total time wins. It could be fun for somewhere between 1 and 3 races...

Stuntsmania Nations? I guess Krys will enjoy being involved ;D

You mean the Ubuntu colour scheme I used for Skyline? :D

This can be nice too, and not really troublesome to organize as long as we could arrange more than two balanced teams in the current environment.

Yep. I tried to paint my kart (under construction) orange, it came out about the same colours that I later saw on the skyline.
What about a competition without scoreboard - but with special missions you have to complete in various fields of racing (for example you have fly for 10 seconds on a certain track, beating Cherry Chassis on a dual-way track choosing the longer way, completing a cork up/down over xy mph, etc.). Something like 'Factory driver' in NFS Porsche. After 10, 20, 50, etc. missions you would get a bronze, silver or golden driving licence. I think it could work in a permanent system, without deadlines.
What do you think?
