The annual football topic... ;)
C. Ronaldo crashed... poor Ferrari! I would like to see Ronaldo in the same condition. :D

I guess this should go in 2008 topic, but as it was announced in 2009...
C. Ronaldo was named the best football player of 2008 over Messi. Only because he is more mediatic than Messi. Eveyone I heard talk about this award said it should have been Messi.

I also must say that 2008 was Messi's year. C. Ronaldo was crap on Euro 2008, Portugal lost against Germany in the quarter finals... Messi was fantastic throughout the whole year. I like his football much more. C. Ronaldo is only a posh crap like Beckham was/is.

The Greatest King versus ETO. ;)
Van der Sar - already 1032 minutes flawless goalkeeping! I think he's the best goalkeeper on Earth at the moment. Btw I always liked goalies since I also used to play in that position. As for me, the best keepers of the last two decades:
Peter Schmeichel
Jose Luis Chilavert
Iker Casillas
Oliver Kahn
Gianluigi Buffon
Edwin van der Sar
Petr Cech
Btw what would be your historical and your "up to date" All Star team?
A few days ago I was thinking about the same All-Star team to post. Now, my team with active players would be the following: 3-3-1-3 is the tactic (I like offenssive football)
Casillas (Spa)
Puyol (Spa) Terry (Eng) Cannavaro (Ita)
Mascherano (Arg)
Seedorf (Ned) Kaka (Bra)
Sneidjer (Ned)
Messi (Arg) Zlatan (Swe) Ronaldo (Por)
Only Spain, The Netherlands and Argentina have 2 players. Many great players that are out (Robinho, Ronaldhino, Pirlo, Gerrard), only 2 top countries without representation (France and Germany). I'll think further about the "All-time" best team, but some players are there for sure (Maradona, Pele, Beckenbauer, Cruyff...)
van der Sar (NED) - Carvalho (POR), Puyol (ESP), Rio Ferdinand (ENG) - Xavi (ESP), Ribéry (FRA), C. Ronaldo (POR), Del Piero (ITA) - Adebayor (TOG), Kaká (BRA), Messi (ARG)
Some substititutions: Casillas (ESP), Terry (ENG), Ronaldinho (BRA), Ibrahimovic (SWE), Torres (ESP)
All time... I also have to think it over but I guess many attackers were famous and only a few defending players. So I'll make a team only with players that I have already seen playing (so since ~1992). Of course Pelé, Maradona and Puskás are undisputed superheros - but it would be unrealistic to put them in the team without seeing them play.
Schmeichel (DEN) - Nesta (ITA), R. Carlos (BRA), Maldini (ITA) - Matthaus (GER), Figo (POR), Zidane (FRA), Stoichkov (BUL) - Bergkamp (NED), Romario (BRA), R. Baggio (ITA)
Some substitutions: Kahn (GER), Thuram (FRA), Cantona (FRA), Klinsmann (GER), Suker (CRO), Shearer (ENG)
+ Illés (HUN) - sorry, I couldn't resist ;D
Well, I like your team, only big difference is I consider C. Ronaldo a WF instead of SMF, just because he does't defend as a SMF should, specially in a 3 man defense. The rest is reasonable and according to taste, as we can't say any of them are out of place there. About subs, Mine would be Buffon (Ita), Ferdinand (Eng), Ronaldinho (Bra) or Del Piero (Ita) or Van der Vaart (Ned) (if he comes back to his best form), Villa (Spa), a personal choice though many think Torres (Spa) is much better. I don't agree.
Current All Star football team:
Buffon - Puyol, Chiellini, Mertesacker - Gattuso - Ribéry, Xavi, Kaká - Del Piero (C) - Ibrahimovic, Messi
Substitutions:
Casillas (gk), Terry, Seedorf, Vieira, Robben, Riquelme, Toni, Ronaldinho.
All Time (1993-) All Star football team:
Kahn - Hierro, Roberto Carlos, Maldini, Cannavaro - Figo, Zidane (C), Ronaldinho, Davids - R. Baggio, Romário
Substitutions: Buffon (gk), Nesta, Raúl, Suker, Matthaeus, Messi, P. Andersson
Favourites (1993-) All Star football team:
Ravelli - Jarni, Ümit Davala, Hierro - Gattuso - Sforza, Zidane, Illés - Del Piero (C) - Suker, Vialli
Substitutions: Buffon (gk), Ravanelli, Tomasson, Figo, Asanovic, Di Livio, Riquelme, Nuno Gomes, Cafú, Hakan Sükür, T. Ivanov, Bergkamp, Morientes, P. Andersson
Hated players (1993-) football team:
Klos - P. Neville, Lahm, Frings - Beckham, Rosicky, Möller (C), Ballack, Scholes - C. Ronaldo, Rooney
Substitutions: Seaman (gk), van Nistelrooy, Riedle, Owen, Gerrard, Hargreaves, G. Neville, Carrick, Metzelder
Barça's 5000 goal in La liga. Of course scored by Messi, and a great goal as well.

Raul matched Di Stefano's record of 307 goals in Real Madrid as the top scorer of that team. Of course it took him his entire career instead of the fewer years it took Di Stefano...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFM4SEUVqmA#noexternalembed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFM4SEUVqmA#noexternalembed)
Both are great numbers... Raul is a legend, Messi also deserved the 5000th. Two real (but only one is Real :)) heroes of football!
I happen to think Raul is not that good as a "legend". Maybe I'm wrong but I think that if he hadn't been in Real Madrid since he was little, they wouldn't have bought him from other team and before other forwards of his time.

I remember his superb performance in CL 1995 versus Ferencváros (yes, once upon a time there was a Hungarian team in Champions League ;D) - he was a young super talent. I don't say he's a hyperbrilliant attacker, but he has a fantastic sense to score (307 can't be an accident and Di Stefano is really a big name). On the other hand as I told already somewhere, I respect his modest style and loyality to his team: that's why I like him, Casillas, Del Piero, Giggs...

That is true. I really like that. It's simply great to see a player become a team all-time star. But that can only happen if you spend all of your career in a top team...
Based on the same thought, Lewis Hamilton is a crappy driver.
Arshavin left Zenit for Arsenal; while one of the best Hungarian players, Szabolcs Huszti (from Hannover) went to Zenit...
Other good news: young talent of ours, Adam Szalai is nominated to Real Madrid's team in Champions League (he played in RM Castilla before that)!!!
Two friendly matches, another bad day for Hungarian football... :-\
Israel - Hungary 1-0 (okay, Israel is 18th on the worldranklist, we are only 43rd; and we played quite well)
U20: Italy - Hungary 3-0 (okay, this generation of Italian football is title holder in Europe...)

That's stupid, they don't even make it to the world cup, and 32 teams pay there...
Argentina 2 - 0 France
Nice match from Argentina, always in control of the game. A usefull goal by Jonas Gutierrez to go 1-0 into halftime and a great goal by Messi to leave France hopeless. How Diarra finished the match with only a yellow card is a mistery to me. ???

I agree about the match, Argentina was obviously better and France was obviously already thinking of the next 2 matchs versus Lituania. Anyway, Diarra is not good but this time he was really crappy. He should have had at least 10 yellow cards. :D
The Hungarian spring football season has started!
Results (interesting ones)
NB I
Fehérvár-Debrecen (Poo's favourite first division team) 0-1
Györi ETO (CTG team)-Kecskemét today
NB II
Szolnok (Usrin team)-Kazincbarcika (Poo team) 2-2
Tököl-Ferencváros 0-7
Wednesday
Hungarian Cup, quarter final, first leg
I might attend the match:
Kazincbarcika-Györi ETO
It's the first time when it's not Usrin-Poo, but CTG-Poo in football. Györ is constantly in NB I, Kazincbarcika in NB II in the past years, I guess these teams will meet in an official match for the very first time in history. Kazincbarcika can equal its best result in history when they played a Cup Semi Final in 1991 (or is NB II East championship a bigger thing? they won it in 1990, with today's rules, we would have promoted to top division, but that time, even the NB II champion had to play a promotion/relegation playoff match, and Bp. Honvéd decided the match in extra time with a penalty kick which is still debated in the town. my father attended that match. that time star players like Béla Asszony and the young Péter Lipcsei, the horse-headed cum played in Kazincbarcika). I hope in this historical match, we can earn the victory against the top division Györ.

My tip: tight first match, maybe draw or small victory of KBSC (we won't take it too seriously as we have to focus on the championship now); confident victory by ETO on the second match. Let's say:
Kazincbarcika - Györi ETO FC 2-1
Györi ETO FC - Kazincbarcika 4-1

Györi ETO FC - Kecskemét 2-0... :D
How I hate "English" teams... >:(
Kazincbarcikai SC-Györi ETO 1-2 (1-0)
ETO said that they must take the Cup very seriously, because they has no other way to qualify for the UEFA Cup (after a surprisingly weak autumn in the championship). They bought a lot of new players (they are said to be quality players). In the half time, KBSC was leading 1-0. In half time, ETO coach threathened his team with a serious penalty if they keep on playing like that. That resulted in a new ETO: the players had blood lust, scored twice, they won the match. Not a bad effort for KBSC, but no surprise happened.

Farting footballer booked for gamesmanship
A Sunday league player was booked for breaking wind, just as an opponent was about to take a penalty. Impressive farting skills, you have to say, Brian.
The guilty party was a player for Chorlton Villa, a lower-league team based in the Manchester area. The team's manager, Ian Treadwell, said his side's conduct was "normally exemplary".
"One of our players 'broke wind' and only the referee heard it and he booked the player," Treadwell said.
The one who smelt it, dealt it, surely?
There was a happy ending for Villa (unlike namesakes Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday): they won the game, which was against International Manchester FC, by the exciting scoreline of 6-4.

Btw, in the latest round of Hungarian championship:

Real Madrid 2 - 6 Barcelona :o :o :o
Great game by Messi and co. Title is decided...
F-CK OFF BKV ELÖRE!!! BKV, the main sponsor of this team, is the dirty transport company of Budapest, everybody hates them. Their sponsored team beat Kazincbarcika 4-3 in Budapest, with a very late winning goal. KURVA ISTEN BASSZA MEG!!!
Tips for Champions' League SFs:
Arsenal-MU... well, who the f-ck cares about English teams, I'm not tipping
Chelsea-Barcelona 1-3 -> Barca will win the Cup, they are back in form!
Tips:
Arsenal - MU 1-1
Chelsea - Barcelona 0-0, penalties: 4-3
Arsenal 1 - 3 Manchester Utd. MANU is again on Champions League Final.
Tip for today's match:
Chelsea 1 - 1 Barcelona

How nice it is too see you were right... Barcelona has to demolish the shitty c.r. squad in the final.
I'm so glad Barcelona made it! I also hope they win the final. But mainly I hope the final will not be a boring game, as finals usually are (but not AC Milan - Liverpool!)
About the match, we really have to say Chelsea should have won or at least should have had 2 PK...
I couldn't see the match but I saw the highlights and both goals were great!

Ibrahimovic goes to Real Madrid for €50M + Gonzalo Higuain.
On other news, we already have 2 teams on next round of Copa Libertadores de America: the 2 mexican teams that remain in the competition retired due to Influenza risk and other teams not wanting to go play in Mexico...

Danish team Randers has excellent players... ;D
http://www.pixter.hu/video?id=12350 (http://www.pixter.hu/video?id=12350)
Hahaha :) Very nice...
But I can tell you some things: Randers won the match 3-2, which sucks because AGF and Randers are fighting for the 5th place in the league. We have the same amount of points before the last match, but they have a better goal difference. However, they are playing away vs FC København (1st of 12), while we are playing Vejle (12th of 12).
Also, Bédi Buval is really not a bad player... He also scored Randers' goal in the last game vs AGF.
Also, another bonus information: Randers is going to the UEFA Cup next year because Denmark has an extra fair-play slot, and Randers is 3rd in the fair play competition in Denmark after two teams which are already qualified. Lucky bastards! But it turns out that their stadium sucks too much for UEFA standards, so as it stands now, they can't play international matches there :D Perhaps they will play in Århus. They should just have left the UEFA Cup slot for us really...
F U C K OFF BUDAPEST HONVÉD!!! >:(
Hungarian Cup final:
Györi ETO FC - Budapest Honvéd 0-1 (with a lucky goal)
Budapest Honvéd - Györi ETO FC 0-0
No UEFA Cup this year...
Rumours say some of the players in ETO are big gamblers, betting in Slovakia for their own matches. The first match payed at least 5x money for the loss.
So, UEFA CL final today... any tips?
Mine is Barça 2-1. Go BARÇA!!!
Barcelona will win tonight's UEFA CL final after penalty shootout (no goals in 120 minutes). Cristiano Ronaldo will make a Roby Baggio 1994 WCH final penalty shot remake.

There was a Hungary-Denmark football match in 1994. Denmark won 3-1, but Hungary missed a chance which was probably even bigger than this one. Hungary led that time 0-1, could have been 0-2 with this.
~20 mins and C. Ronaldo will cry. Hopefully. ;D
That was an awesome game! Barcelona was pure eye candy to watch. I really hadn't expected such a total thrashing of Manchester United.
I would have loved to see Cristiano cry... or get a red card as he deserved (same goes for Scholes for his really hard and unnecessary foul on Busquets). And Messi was top scorer of UEFA CL, with 9 goals in 12 matches. Impresive!
Lakers won as well, so I had a really happy day!

Host cities for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil have just been announced. European squads will be hoping that the organizers will be reasonable to set up the groups so that travelling distances are minimized... and also not to be drawn on Manaus! (perennial humid equatorial climate)

I already hate that Real Madrid!
But the good thing is that even with those players, they will still not be as good as Barcelona. You can't just buy the hottests names in the world and expect them to work as a team.
Well, Barcelona is another thing. They want to make an Eto'o <---> Ibrahimovic transfer, not the best choice. Although I don't like the N guy but he fits better in FC Barcelona than Zlatan.

Did you mean: ChelseaI remember that four years ago or so I did get pretty angry with the buying machine Chelsea had become; now with their relative lack of success (relative to how much they spent, of course - no CL wins, etc.) I do not care any more. Beyond a certain point, the quality of a team does not grow linearly with the money spent...

Yes, I was thinking about mentioning Chelsea. They are a good example. Chelsea and Real Madrid. Now Manchester City is doing the same thing and we will watch them go from finishing 10th to finishing 5th in the PL. Ultimately it doesn't work.

Semi-finals:
Spain - USA 2-0
Brazil - South Africa 3-1
Bronze match:
USA - South Africa 1-1; 2-1 after extra time

Very good question! Not yet but in "UEFA Cup" (whatever it is called from this year), dicksucker Újpest (the most hated Hungarian team) is going to play with Steaua Bucurest - I don't know who to cheer for. Hmmmm... okay, maybe you are right, I won't support Romania. ;D
On the other hand, I'm in a situation similar to the one you mention...
My team's (Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata) classic and most hated rival (Estudiantes de La Plata) is playing Gremio (You know, Porto Alegre, Brazil) in SF of Copa Libertadores. Who will I cheer for? Well, let's say I want certain team to be campeao... ;D ;D ;D ;D
Hahaha I always cheer for the argentinian team, even if it is Independiente (http://www.argentina-online.de/uploads/pics/logo_fc_independiente_01.gif)or Boca Jrs. (http://www.mediotiempo.com/inc/img/equipos/boca_g.gif) :P
I like spain but they are kinda undead :D
ZOMG Spain is out...!! :o
Told you, they're undead :(
BTW Nice match, USA played very well.
Now between USA and Brazil I cheer for Brazil, no doubt... anyway it's Southafrica before :) Will we have another surprise? :)

UEFA Champions' League 2009/10
Second qualification round
Debrecen-Kalmar (SWE) 2-0
Kalmar-Debrecen 3-1
3-3 on aggregate, Debrecen will face Levadia Tallinn (EST) in 3rd round. If they beat the Estonian team, they are already at least in UEFA European League group stage (that doesn't sound impossible)! If they also pass last playoff round, they will qualify for Champions' League (since 1995, there was no HUN team there, though Ferencváros was close to it 1-2 occassions, last during WSM 2004).
European Cup qualification 2nd round
Elfsborg (SWE)-Haladás 3-0
Steaua Bucuresti (ROM)-Újpest 2-0
Second legs today. Haladás-Elfsborg 0-0 in 19th minute. Not too much hopes...

It all went wrong then, due to the global recession, the owner of the team exited with his money, leaving the team in trouble. The second division team can play in second division next year, too (that is good news), but most of the players and coaches left, so we are in a difficult situation. The 2nd division will have one group next year with 24 teams, so we'll have to finish in the top11, or 12th and win a playoff match against Western 12th... With current squad, that sounds quite a hard task. Third division from 2010 I guess...
Hungarian first division: 1 Debrecen 2 Újpest 3 Haladás, as cup teams show above.

What a conspiracy again! ;D (KBSC just SUCKS!!! :P)
Huge disappointment for AaB, already eliminated from the Europa Whatever after losing 0-0, 1-3 to Slavija Sarajevo. After last year's enormous success finishing 3rd in the Champion's League group stage, getting a draw on Old Trafford and making it to penalty shootout with Manchester City in the UEFA Cup 1/8 final, this is quite surreal. They also sucked vs AGF last monday (yay! ;D). The coach will be fired soon.

FC København will face Apoel Nicosia (after taking a beating from AGF at home!! ;D). Brøndby and OB also still alive in the Europa League qualification, facing Genoa and Hertha Berlin respectively. But more importantly...
AARHUS GF IS BACK!!
After 5 rounds, we are number 1 with 13 points. Eat that, everyone else in Denmark. See you in Champions League next year!
Kazincbarcikai SC started the season with a weakened squad. The owner of the club left with his money, almost all of the players left. The youngsters, the recalled old players (playing in regional first division...), the remaining few players with 1-2 signings will try to avoid relegation this year. Due to the reorganization of the Hungarian football leagues, 1st place will mean first, 2nd-10th place will mean second, 12th-15th place will mean third division next year. The 11th place teams of East and West will have a playoff match to decide who can stay in Div 2. Then a new owner arrived, brought some money to the team, but he said strengthening the team is only in prospect if it's needed, and only in the winter break... Let's hope we can minimalize our points disadvantage on 10th placed team until then...
We started the season with two third division champions:
Hajdúböszörmény-Kazincbarcika 3-2
Kazincbarcika-Mezökövesd 2-0

Nice Debrecen made it through, I do not remember ever having seen an Hungarian team in the CL main round before.

Ferencváros, 1995/96, defeating Anderlecht to qualify and then... well it wasn't a very successful part:
Grasshoppers (SWI) - Ferencváros 0-3
Ferencváros - Ajax Amsterdam 1-5
Real Madrid - Ferencváros 6-1
Ferencváros - Real Madrid 1-1
Ferencváros - Grasshoppers 3-3
Ajax Amsterdam - Ferencváros 4-0
1 Ajax Amsterdam 16 pts (15-1) amazing!!!
2 Real Madrid 10 pts (11-5)
3 Ferencváros 5 pts (9-19)
4 Grasshoppers 2 pts (3-13)
I can't believe FC København fucked up vs that cypriotic team... Good luck to Debrecen.
A Bayern, Juventus, Bordeaux, Maccabi Haifa
B Man. Utd., CSKA Moskzkva, Wolfsburg,
C Milan, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, FC Zürich
D Chelsea, Porto, Marseille, APOEL
E Liverpool, Lyon, Fiorentina, Debrecen !!!
F Barcelona, Internazionale, Dinamo Kiev, Rubin
G Sevilla, Rengers, Stuttgart, Unirea Urziceni
H Arsenal, AZ Alkmaar, Olympiacos, Standard Liege
Prediction (dunno the exact order of matches now, so just the results), somehow I think Lyon will cause a surprise in the group:
Liverpool - Lyon 1-1
Liverpool - Fiorentina 2-0
Liverpool - Debrecen 6-0
Lyon - Liverpool 1-0
Lyon - Fiorentina 0-0
Lyon - Debrecen 4-0
Fiorentina - Liverpool 1-1
Fiorentina - Lyon 1-1
Fiorentina - Debrecen 2-0
Debrecen - Liverpool 1-4
Debrecen - Lyon 0-1
Debrecen - Fiorentina 1-3
Lyon 12 pts (8-2)
Liverpool 11 pts (14-4)
Fiorentina 9 pts (7-5)
Debrecen 0 pt (2-20)
I don't think Debrecen will do that badly :D It's a very tough group though. Debrecen might even win vs Liverpool if they play in the last match, or get draws with Lyon and Fiorentina at home if they fight really hard.
I hope for at least 1 home point against Lyon or Fiorentina. Fiorentina is the better team of these two, but they form is more fluctuating. And of course I wish as many goals as possible, and a decent play.
The weakened Kazincbarcika side reached fair results in NB II:
Kazincbarcika-Szolnok 0-0
Vecsés-Kazincbarcika 1-1 (0-0)
The team is 8th at the moment, with 5 points in 4 games. Next opponent is MTK Budapest II.
Kazincbarcika-MTK Budapest II 1-3 (0-2)
Poor performance...
Hungary-Sweden 1-2 (0-1)
Poor performance...
BÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!
Hungary-Portugal 0-1 (0-1)
All chances are lost...
No they're not, you can still qualify by winning the last two matches.
Is Gayano Ronaldo already out from South Africa 2010 WC? Because that would cause FIFA to freak out if Messi misses it too...
Portugal can't qualify without depending on others' results any more, but there are a fair amount of scenarios which would give them qualification. The only Group 1 challenger which seems to be most definitely off is, sadly, Hungary, as they are the only team to have two expectedly difficult matches remaining (Portugal and Denmark away). :-\
How I'd love to see Portugal (Bah, Ronaldo) out of next WC! Only seeing England out of it would please me more (but I know the are qualified already).
Champions' League, 1st round:
FC Liverpool - Debrecen 1-0 (1-0)
Kuyt 45.
Surprisingly good performance by the Hungarian side, even the English newspapers praised DVSC, they played well. It's a pity for that lucky goal, though it was deserved.
I saw that match while studying so I couldn't really pay attention but got the feeling Debrecen was playing well. Certainly much better than I expected them to do against Liverpool...
Things get worse for Debrecen, after Lyon whitewashed us 0-4 at home... Again, decent play from Debrecen, but in the Champions' League, it's often not enough. The French played really well, and they capitalized on their chances.
Kazincbarcikai SC, as it was expected, is in serious trouble, we're having a big losing streak. Last time we lost in Cegléd 2-5, which is a terrible result against a weak team. If the financial status doesn't change until the winter, we'll find ourselves in the third division...
There are some great news, but let's start with the bad one. Kazincbarcikai SC seems to be in big trouble, they had a very long losing streak. That's not a surprise, because the team is too weak for the second division at the moment. I know a man who are in contact with the team, and he didn't want to talk about if there would be any money for strenghtening the lineup. I guess it is the direct way to the third level of Hungarian football. Last time, we beat Baktalórántháza 3-2, so we are lying in 13th place at the moment...
After losing to Sweden and Portugal, Hungary played a great game in Denmark. We were close to victory last year at home, as well, but this time, with a great tactical play and a lucky goal, we were able to win. Denmark-Hungary 0-1. We collected 16 points in such a strong group, it's a pity that it was only enough for 4th position. Improving, much better than EURO 2008 qualifiers.
The U20 national team is playing for bronze medal on the world championships. It isn't a big suprise, they were 5th on the U17 ECH 3 years ago, and bronze medalist on the U19 ECH last year. The team is full of very talented players, who might rise Hungarian football back to the best. For a long time, this is the biggest success in Hungarian football.
Results:
Honduras-Hungary 3-0
Hungary-South Africa 4-0
Hungary-United Arabian Emirates 2-0
Group placement: 1st
Last 16: Hungary-Czech Rep. 2-2, Hungary won on penalties
Quarter final: Hungary-Italy 3-2 after extra time
Semi final: Ghana-Hungary 3-2
Bronze match: Hungary-Costa Rica today
BAJNOKOK LIGÁJA E-CSOPORT, 3. FORDULÓ
Debrecen (magyar)–Fiorentina (olasz) 3–4 (Czvitkovics 2., Rudolf 28., Coulibaly 88., ill. Mutu 6., 20., Gilardino 10., Santana 37.)
Hungary-Costa Rica 1-1, 2-0 after penalty shootout -> bronze medal
congrats magyar! ^_^

Yes, it was hard but we made it... Funny thing, we won for the first time for qualifiers in Uruguay and last Argentinian victory there was in '76 in a friendly match.
I couldn't imagine a World Cup without Argentina... But I'm seriously worried about your performance there if Maradona doesn't really get his shit together. I hope we get in the same group (if Arg is 1st seed, that is...)
So far we are 1st seed

It's funny to see how Germany lost 1 position (4th to 5th) while the first 4th kept their position... they probably were tied with Italy.
Lothar Mathaus is the new coach of Racing Club de Avellaneda! ^_^.

Very interesting! (I guess Hungarians and Brazilians will have quite different perceptions on this announcement)
Hungarian Cup, 1/8 final:
Szolnoki MÁV (Division 2, Group East)–Budapesti Honvéd (Division 1) 4–1. Return match this week.
Amazing result; forever Szolnoki MÁV!

Btw...

Dirty NB1.hu, they still don't have the result of the return match in their database, so I totally missed that. :o
And unfortunately we can't take a revenge in the championship... For the next season, Honvéd will be relegated to the 2nd Division, while Szolnok (future champion of Group East) will follow in the 1st Division. What a pity!
Really strange days in the Danish Cup tournament:
Vejle (2nd league) - Brøndby 1-0
SønderjyskE - FC København (Defending cup winners and national champions) 5-0
Currently playing:
Hobro (3rd league) - AaB (played 2-2 on Old Trafford last year) 1-0
Racing Club 4 Atletico Tucuman 0 !!!!!!!!!!!!
Kazincbarcika is in serious trouble, as it was expected. The players feeling that they have no chance, are mentally also weak, and unmotivated. The last path to return to the back of the pack and avoiding dropping far away was against key home game against 12th Békéscsaba. We lost 0-4...
Tonight: Fiorentina-Debrecen in Champions League
I hope for a good game and for a Debrecen goal! BÖFF!!!
I'm strangely anxious about tomorrows match against Spain. Maybe because I want to see if the best team at the moment is really so superior to us or if it was just the pressure of being at the edge of elimination that cause some bad matches even though we played a great last game against Uruguay...
VAMOS ARGENTINA!
I have some spanish friends and they say Spain will win ^_^. I don't know but it will be a good match.
Spain 2-1 Argentina.
Really not that bad, considering they were playing at home and are supposed to be much better than us. And taking into consideration we played with only 10 players until Maradona decided to put someone else in Gago's place... How can people think that guy is so good?
I always knew that dicksucker Újpest is a dirty cheater team...

Well he's quite good. What a shame he played in peasant Debrecen before PSV.

World Cup 2010 groups:
Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France
Group B: Argentina, Nigeria, South Korea, Greece
Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
Group D: Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana
Group E: Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon
Group F: Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia
Group G: Brasil, North Korea, Ivory Coast, Portugal
Group H: Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile
Opinions, predictions?
Extremely balanced draw, I liked it a lot. There are no ridiculously strong or ridiculously weak groups. And while we got the closest thing to a "group of death", in our case it might well be advantageous to have hard matches early on rather than breezing through an easy group playing mediocre football. Not to mention it will be very cool to play North Korea, the one truly mysterious squad in the tournament. It is also interesting to take note of the many rematches from past World Cups - Argentina v. Nigeria (1994, 2002, not to mention 1996 Olympics), England v. USA (notorious match in 1950), North Korea v. Portugal (equally notorious game in 1966)...

In the Last 16:
France, South Africa
Argentina, Greece
England, USA
Germany, Ghana
Netherlands, Denmark
Italy, Paraguay
Brazil, Ivory Coast
Spain, Chile
Group C is by far the easiest for any of the 8 seeds. And Group A is the hardest for a seed but it was expected as South Africa is the weakest seed... Just to mention a a curious fact: Maradona last match in a WC was against Nigeria in USA '94 (2-1 for Argentina, 2 goals from Caniggia) and he'll come back to WC against Nigeria as well. Also, he will face Greece in group stage as he did in '94 as weell (4-0 for us, a great goal from him).
My predictions are as follow (1st place in red, 2nd place in blue)
Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France
Group B: Argentina, Nigeria, South Korea, Greece
Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
Group D: Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana
Group E: Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon
Group F: Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia
