I wonder about the South American opinion - how do you feel about R9's retirement?

Well, it is surely a pity he stopped somewhat early, but following his efforts at Corinthians made it obvious that, from about halfway through 2010 onwards, he couldn't seriously keep playing at a high level at such a dismal physical condition - nagging injuries by the dozen and the ever-present weight issues (now attributed to hypothyroidism). On Ronaldo's own words, it got to a point in which "I think about making a play but I can't execute it.".
