Just checked the top4 replays.

It seems Duplode invested too much time in driving unimportant small tricks. The key part of the track was the beginning I think. I just didn't drive on until I reached Bonzai Joe's 23.55 at the beginning of the tunnel on the hill. It was worthier than chasing 0.05 seconds in powergear curves.
