This is just a test to see if I finally can write on the forum and not just the pinboard "news"

Hello,
Alain and I would like to invite you to join our new team and also invite you to participate in our new permanent OWOOT and GAR competitions

Seeker1982, the greatest OWOOT + NoRH pipsqueak I've had the pleasure to see on the race tracks, has retired from Stunts competitions at the end of 2020. A comeback in this era seems unlikely, but it would of course be fantastic to see.

On contacting people through the Forum, @-pings like @Victor Narl, as well as message quotes, trigger Forum notifications, though that only helps if the other person visits the Forum regularly. For inactive users, sending a PM can be a better bet, because that also triggers an e-mail notification (assuming the user hasn't chosen to disable that feature).

Oh, sure -- I think the defaults for new accounts have changed with one of the SMF updates a few years ago.

It should be returned to the way it was, otherwise inactive members won't read personal messages

As useful as the feature can be, having it off by default is appropriate from a data protection point of view, by making extra notifications by e-mail opt-in rather than opt-out.
