Quote from: dreadnaut on December 10, 2022, 12:52:25 AMThe live race calendar for 2022 (https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=3867.0) was a great success: we had three well attended and exciting events, a record in recent years!
Do we want to run something similar next year? Or do we want to try four events this time?
Records? We are
made for breaking records. But I'm going to leave this to you folks this year. After a great 2023 (https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=4057.0), what's the plan for 2024?
I vote for 4 races as standard and then we would eventually add more in the way.
Four worked pretty well laat year. Created some room to experiment with the ruleset too.
Yes, I really enjoyed the variation. Which schedule would you use?
I think live races are wonderful, I would like to increase my involvement with the community, I don't have the experience to lead a race but I would love to help organize one of the stages.
You can be "second organiser" on one of the events, and you'll learn the ropes in no time!
I too think that four was a good wheel number ;D I would like to organise one of them this year
Me too!
I want to organize a live race. I have an idea 8) how we set the schedule.
Quote from: dreadnaut on January 08, 2024, 08:14:22 PMBut I'm going to leave this to you folks this year.
Someone else will have to take initiative here.
You 🫵 are the right person for the job!
1. propose some dates
2. prod people to sign-up
3. create a calendar
Alright... so how about four live race events this year? Like we've done before, the four of them on a weekend and for each case, we decide on which day and time within the weekend. To split them more or less evenly, I'd suggest something like:
- First event: March
- Second event: May
- Third event: August
- Fourth event: November
By default, say, second weekend of each of these months, but the organisers can pick another weekend in the same month. This is just an idea. I would happily pick the first or second event and optionally accept a co-organiser.
Sounds good.
@alanrotoi as our first volunteer: would March work for your idea? And if so, since it's pretty close already, do you have a weekend of preference?
I would. It would be at the end of March and in Sunday because I work Saturday mornings.

So I have about 1 month to fix my old laptop and join... gotta get to it!
I should really sign up for hosting one of the events -- it's been a while! Either August or May would work for me (there's some chance I won't be around for the March and November ones, depending on the exact dates).
Quote from: Chulk on February 17, 2024, 07:24:50 PMgotta get to it!
That's the spirit! 8)
Let's vote the date of the March live race:
- Sunday March 10th
- Sunday March 17th
- Sunday March 24th
- Sunday March 31th
If you agree it would be at:
09:00 Buenos Aires
09:00 São Paulo
12:00 London
13:00 Amsterdam
13:00 Rome
13:00 Budapest
I vote for March
10th but it could be any of those Sundays.
I'll do the same. I vote for 10 March because I'm very eager to participate in a live race, but I really can do it any Sunday. The time sounds good
Sunday is the only morning I don't work, so that would be great. Of course, I still haven't fix my laptop so you shouldn't take my opinion so seriously
I can't do 10 March ;D But all other Sundays should be OK!
It's somewhat likely I won't be able to race on 31 March (Easter Sunday); the earlier three days are should be okay for me. For now I'll vote on the 17th, the earliest date with minimum confirmed absences so far.
I'm ok with 17 March if everybody is agree.
I'm ok with 17 march!! Let's rock 8)
I think I can do all the ones that aren't Easter.
Happy with the 17th of March 👍
Next live race the 17th of March!
09:00 Buenos Aires
09:00 São Paulo
12:00 London
13:00 Amsterdam
13:00 Rome
13:00 Budapest
I'll publish the details in a week more or less but know that the track is ready and the car is set!
Added to my calendar, and warming up the tires!
Count me in! 8)
I will be happy and organize the next race live, as a suggestion in the month of May and one of the Sundays of the month:
- Sunday May 5th
- Sunday May 12th
- Sunday May 19th
- Sunday May 26th
I believe that keeping the schedule below is the most appropriate:
09:00 Buenos Aires
09:00 São Paulo
12:00 London
13:00 Amsterdam
13:00 Rome
13:00 Budapest
22:00 Brisbane
I'm in! We have time but I would have time all Sundays.
Any Sunday except the 5th, I think.
Alright, I'll leave you May. I can do the next one :)
I think I can do any of those dates, but say the 26th as preference number one
I'll say something controversial but I would be happy with a monthly live race. To say an example we could arrange it the morning before ZakStunts new track is released.
Waiting for the next live race until May and then August maybe is too much time. We don't need a great preparation or a theme in every live race (I love when they have a background story of course!) and we don't have to be a dozen pipsqueaks to have fun. We could let the 4 races as main anual events and a monthly minor race for extra fun ;).
It would also be cool to have extra achievements besides being the fastest, like in the last race that we had a special prize for the pipsqueak with more jumps.
I can manage a monthly Sunday live race I think but if anybody wants to manage a race I'll happy to support. We only need ourselves because tracks and cars are plenty.
Quote from: Cas on January 27, 2024, 08:01:06 PMI would happily pick the first or second event and optionally accept a co-organiser.
Can we do the next live race scheduled on Sunday May 19th? I would also like to apologize to
@Cas, I ended up jumping ahead of him in organizing this event, he kindly agreed to organize it with me.

I think it's cool, I like live racing, I think it's fun and it increases participant interaction, I'd like to test live streaming, I should create a topic to explain the plan.
Might a reddit be a good place to advertize for your live event?

As we discussed, yes, the 19th is a good idea. And it gives us time to prepare tracks :)
Well, the 19th is approaching. I guess we need to discuss the times. It'll be hard to wake up on a Sunday morning here with this cold, but let's see what we can do :P 13:00 UTC would be ideal for me, but if too late for you guys, I guess I can do noon UTC?
I can both
I somewhat prefer 12:00 UTC, but can also do 13:00 UTC.
I can't, never in the afternoon.
I'll be away all weekend sadly, but will try a dummy run at a set time myself, as practice for when I can next participate!
We're still in time to move it to the following weekend if you guys think it's good. Also, about Daniël's afternoons, I can do it at other times and it may actually be more convenient for me, but this is the time I know that has worked before. Otherwise, I can....
1. In my afternoon, which would be Daniël's evening... for example, at 19:00 UTC
2. In the night if it's Friday or Saturday here. For example, 04:00 UTC Saturday is great for me. That'd be early morning for Daniël
3. Let's say option 3 is what we've been doing, that is, South American morning, like noon UTC
I'd like to know which options are OK for you guys and how many would be OK with pushing it to the following week so that Spoonboy can join.

Honestly, don't factor me in to the plan. With family around, I wouldn't usually know if I can participate until minutes before the race!
Let me practice with the format on my own schedule first :)

I agree with changing the schedule for a larger number of participants, it would be great to have
@Daniel3D and
@Spoonboy present. I can flex my schedule to fit in with others

Live racing is a very different experience to any other type of racing, the panic of delivering the replay in 12 minutes, but it's really cool, try to participate.

That would be 21:00 for me. That I can manage.if I don't have to work. Since I know my schedule until the 16th.. but I suspect I am not working that weekend.
I have a number of events on my calendar, and it's decent weather (it's very rare to have decent wheather up here), so I'm unlikely to participate in these weeks.
But if it turns out I can make the time you decide, I'll be there! ;D
I'm away this weekend. No racing for me unfortunately.
Alright... so it sounds like we have better chances if we do it next weekend at 19:00 UTC, although we may still be few

Do somebody want to organize August/September live race? Do you want help?
Quote from: alanrotoi on August 23, 2024, 07:39:40 PMDo somebody want to organize August/September live race? Do you want help?
Yes, I do :) I wanted to have posted about this earlier, as I had mentioned once or twice that I could do August, but this month has been somewhat of a mess for me when it comes to scheduling things, so I just kept being sidetracked. But here we are!
DatesLooking at the Saturdays ahead, the obvious options are:
- August 31 (which is still in August! Though it might be a little too close to now for an event in the "official" schedule.)
- September 7
- September 14
Everyone: tell us which of those dates would be okay for you, so we can pick one that's likely to work!
TimeYou'll note that the above list only includes Saturdays. That's because I'd like to suggest an Europe evening time slot, and Sunday evening might be a bit of an awkward time to race. We've had several races in a row during South America morning (or early afternoon), and switching start times every now and then looks like a sensible thing to do (otherwise there's a risk of permanently locking out some unlucky timezones).
Starting at UTC 20:00, for instance, would give us:
- Brisbane 06:00
- Los Angeles 13:00
- Buenos Aires 17:00
- London 21:00
- Amsterdam 22:00
(I think there will be few or no relevant DST changes between now and the end of September. Please let me know if I'm wrong about that!)
Again, please share what makes sense for you, so we can see what's likely to work. No part of the schedule is set in stone!
CooperationA second track for an extra race would be most welcome! The same goes for any suggestions about the event.
I work Saturdays but I can do it. ;)
Quote from: Duplode on August 24, 2024, 04:25:43 AMAgain, please share what makes sense for you, so we can see what's likely to work. No part of the schedule is set in stone!
I'm in, I have flexibility for any of the suggested dates, but if we race on September 7th I will race for independence (race or die) ;D
August 31 is good for me because I'll be doing guard duty at work that weekend, so I'll be home. There is a small chance that some havoc unravels precisely at that time, but odds are I'll be idle and will be able to participate.
The other two Saturdays, I don't know. I usually am not home on Saturday afternoon, but the 14th is my birthday and I may be organising something here, so maybe I will. I'd say the 7th is the least likely one that I'll be able to participate.
On August 31: two days before might be too close for comfort to set the date of a "main schedule" race. However, that need not stop us from running an extra race! :) Here's where things stand right now, so you can plan accordingly:
- For the main schedule race (the one we were talking about earlier), I
propose holding will hold it on September 7, 20:00 UTC. Here is its race thread (https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=4332.0)!
- Meanwhile, we'll have an extra race this Saturday, August 31, 20:00 UTC. Here is the race thread (https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=4329.0), with the track available for test driving!
It should be ok for me both days
Can't say yet, but I hope to be there!
So far, so good. Guard duty seems very peaceful, so it looks like I will be able to compete without a problem.
