The first live event of the year is coming the
17th of March! (Next Sunday) in the Chatroom. The time is the following:
09:00 Buenos Aires
09:00 São Paulo
12:00 London
13:00 Amsterdam
13:00 Rome
13:00 Budapest
22:00 Brisbane
The car for this race will be
Melange XGT-88... ALL OF THEM! Yes, we'll race with all versions of Melange. Why? I saw there was a confusion here and there of wich is the official version of the car so I finally decided to build the official version: Melange XGT-88 1.0 . As always the 1.0 version only had a small 3d shape enhancement.
The idea is to have all the versions racing in the same race. The version 1.0 will inherit the ID "CDOR" while the other versions will be assigned with similar IDs only revealed the day of the race.
All the versions has the same performance and physical characteristics, the only changes are aesthetic in the dashboard and the 3d shape.
The versions are:
- Melange XGT-88 (2003) - Stressed didn't exist so I used the 3d shape of Acura and the LM-002 dashboard's. It has digital speedometer of course.
- Melange XGT-88 (2012) - CTG's version. He caught very well the spirit and the meaning of the car and made an excellent version.
- Melange XGT-88 19th Anniversary - commemorative version meant to be the final version but still had some details.
- Melange XGT-88 v1.0 - Official and definitive version of Melange. It's a stylized version of 19th Anniversary and fixed those details. Shared below in a zip file.
Please
feel free to choose any of these versions for the race but please let's try to have one of each at least.
The track is GENERATIONS a fast and easy track that will be shared in the following days but you can check the flyer below. The cars will be shared the same day of the race because of the change of the car ID but meanwhile you can test drive any version while all of them has the same performance.

Congratulations guys and thank you for participating! It was a fun race!
2012 green for me, the one I did an academy episode with.
Great! I'll go vintage: 2003 model, dark grey 8)
I like 2021 version, but I won't be able to race this event :'(
Great Scott!!! I will pick up the 2021 Brown one!!
I'll grab the 2024 in yellow! Alan, I know you like yellow too, so let me know if you want to reserve it for yourself!
Thank you! Since all versions has at least one pick I'll pick the v1.0 and a color nobody used so no problem with it. As manager of the event I'll adapt to the pipsqueaks selections. :)
I'm in! I'll go for the traditional 2012 edition — I has a soft spot for the target dashboard! Purple color, please 8)
1 day left for the start!! I'll publish the track in few hours.
This is the track for tomorrow. Almost the same track with a couple elements changed. Take a look and give a try for tomorrow! Remember the car is Melange.
The rules will be the same. Race as many as laps possible. We'll have 12 minutes to make a 8 minutes replay.
Count me in! I'll use version 1.0 in red. :)
Tomorrow before the race I'll share a Stunts version with the track and all Melange versions installed. You'll only have to select the track and the Melange version you chose.
Details: the ID of every melange version were changed but the new version will keep the "CDOR" id. You'll find the versions in correlative order in the showroom.
Fastening my seatbelt!

I think I'll race with the standard CDOR version then. I feel uncomfortable leaving replays around pointing to single-event cars 😅
Still purple though!
Stunts with all Melange versions and the track.

@Erik Barros! Also, thank you
@alanrotoi for the race summary. It was a great race! :)
The video of the event was published!! Check what a beatiful and tight race we did. Thank you everybody!

Great video! Very nice to watch full screen as recommended :D
Thanks! It was surprising the quantity of magic carpets (even while building the track). That's why I decided to add the "Man of the Race" prize but only reveal it after the race to not make you think about it and let the jumps and magic carpets be free. ;D
Watching the video I already made a map of the spots where the jumps were made. Let me know if you find another magic carpet spot (where and when in the race).
The "Wind Tunnel" was the place where almost every lap had a magic carpet.

Guys, the Top speed of
Melange is
219 mph (I thought it was 218 mph) :o . Only 3 pipsqueaks reached it in this race and it was in the same place, a jump from the broken bridge to the hill road.
- 4th lap: dreadnaut
- 7th lap: Alan Rotoi

I've seen this effect before. What I suspect happens is this: when the car is at say 79*128 rpm it does it does its little calculation, figures the car should be two steps faster faster on the next frame and goes to 81*128 rpm. Here it does another calculation and figures it should not increase the speed to the next frame, so the car stops accelerating and maxes out at whatever speed 81*128*gear ratio gives it. But if you end up in a situation where you happen to land on 80*128 rpm instead of 79 the torque curve and air drag happen to be such that the calculation also comes out to "2 steps faster", bringing it up to 82*128 rpm and a higher speed, at which point the car will stop accelerating.
This is a thing that can happen both at flat track top speed and real top speed, but it's probably more likely to happen with real top speed, as speedups and such give big acceleration, making the car skip rpm levels and sometimes land higher than other times.
It gets a bit more messy when powergear is involved. The turbo Siluro sometimes says it did 245 mph on the evaluation screen, even though what really happened was the meter going up and back down really shortly without it visually looking like the car really got a burst of speed, so it probably just thinks it is in powergear for one frame or so?
Oooh that's a good explanation! We should place it in a wiki article. Some mechanics of the game are unknown and it would be cool to make them public.
Very technical and a great analysis. Yes, this is something that should be on the wiki. The richness of the possibilities in Stunts is never ending :D
BTW there is also a subtle difference in the dashboard of the 19th Anniversary version and the 1.0 version. Check! 8)

It's a beautiful cockpit design, is the miniature in the center intended to be a small example of the Melange on the dashboard or a digital screen?A diecast miniature of Melange would be amazing!!

Imagine if cars had a plug-in file that allows you to implement very specific behaviours for cars and their dashboards! A dream!
Wait, you changed the font for the digital speedometer? That's a thing you can do?
Yes and no. This graphic was originaly about the differences between 2012's and 19th anniversary versions. For v1.0 I only changed the roof.
About the numbers of the digital speedometer they are just sepsrated images so I used a different font for every image, saved as png and replaced them. Just like ctg did from 2003 to 2012 versions.
2003 version has the corvette's font but in black because the background color. For 2012 version ctg changed them. For 19th Anniversary I changed everything including the font of the numbers.
This race was incredible, I made a video and the dynamics of live races are very interesting. Unfortunately the size of the video is too heavy to attach directly to the forum, I uploaded it to YouTube.

Excellent video!!! I have to implement this system in my videos too! What a memorable race we had :)
Very good! I can see I was super slow at that race, ha, ha... Even Duplode passed me at the end and Alan almost did as well, ha, ha. Very interesting to see how cars tend to separate more when they go past the dirt block and around the banked road at the East end.

I love how a single shortcut can make you win or lose a track in this format. Duplode won mainly because he cut the 3 chicanes part better, thus keeping more speed for the banked road section. It can be seen very clearly around 1:30 when Alan was close behind but for the next bridge lost a lot compared to Dup

Exactly! The track was very simple in the porpose of make it easy for a live race (no crashes, no hidden corners, no water) so everybody was very close. But Duplode managed to make it better with a subtle shortcut. That's what a top pipsqueak does. Remember, I built the track and I built the car... details that could make anybody (including me!) that it turns the chances on my side but still he won.
Maybe is the live race I enjoyed the most. I spent time working on the track, testing the jumps, the corners, the terrain, the external elements to make the pipsqueaks know where they are (the bridge columns to the east and the dirt road tile to mark where you have to slowdown without getting out of the track). I put a lot of effort on the track. There was a special mention "Man of the Race" for the pipsqueak who made more quantity of jumps. It added another spice to the race. having more than one winner in different tasks was a good decision. Also a race with all Melange generations felt good. Maybe I'll prepare another Melange race like this in the future. I hope you'll be there too :)
Hey all,
Just trying a self-imposed pseudo-live v1.0 run here, to test my methods.
Could someone watch my replay and give my race a report? Would be interesting to know how I would have placed!
Felt like a rough start, and the chicanes were hard to get neat.
Only used RH for 3-4 corrections for later braking, mostly before the first corner. Think I had over a minute left on the 12min timer.
But it was a fun track - these fast simple tracks look good for testing cars!
I can check it in few hours. Let's see where did you end and how was the ride. Howbmany jumps did you do?

Ended in mid-air above the first tunnel ;)
Not sure on jumps, had a couple of magic carpets and a few banking jumps.

I checked your replay. Since you raced in the "teaser track", not the one we used in the race (we tend to publish a last minute changed track to make sure the replays are made in the event time and not before, check here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZ8Vta8-1S8)
Anyway, I have some thoughts about your driving. It's a race against the clock so you can tell the rush in your fingers, the exaggerated breaking before corners and the not taking advantage of the speedups. This is totally normal, even more if it's your first "deferred" live race. You can't be in every detail the whole race and you can't be perfect in every corner or every jump. You can solve a corner or a trick just right there in the middle of the live race but most of times wins a conservative driving + some known of shortcuts and practice. Watch the video and the different laps of the pipsqueaks. Watching how others races in the same conditions sometimes helps to learn details. A tip: don't be afraird of the corners. I saw the corner you mentioned, the one after the jumps and before the banked corner, and you break too much and a bit early. I left a dirt road tile in that straight as a sign where, more or less, you could slow down. Also other indicators of the corner were the columns of the highway. Some of these details you'll find in the track of the live race this Sunday ;)
Did you feel the adrenaline? Think about that feeling x10 in the context of the live race. Everybody racing at the same limited time. A race against other pipsqueaks, against the clock, against own imperfections, which most of them you don't have time to improve with replay handling. That's the best I can with my limited english :D
BTW you did 83 jumps. ;D

Haha thats great, thanks for counting! XD
And thanks for the advice. I can see the buzz from racing against the clock on a new track! I remember watching the video (and enjoying the soundtrack!) but will rewatch and also practice more. Not just racing approach but also timing methods to make sure nothing goes wrong, whenever I do race for real.
Also compare your current racing with your previous races and you'll find a great progress. You are not an amateur anymore. 8)
