Italy and Brazil will play the Women's VNL final later today! The semifinals were exactly the same as last year (Italy v Poland and Brazil v Japan), but this time we won a hard-fought 3-2 against Japan rather than the other way around.
Oh my, thanks for reminding me! No coverage in Germany unfortunately. I guess a VPN might help, I'll see.
Volleyball is a surprisingly unpopular sport in Hungary. While sometimes played as a hobby sport, there are not too many professional volleyball players and teams in my country. Our national teams suck, too, especailly the men's squad. Top division volleyball matches also do not attract much supporters, to say the least...
On the other hand, my hometown is a volleyball town. Kazincbarcika only has around 24 000 inhabitants, still, we have won the top divison volleyball title five times, also winning the National Cup three times. That made us possible to compete in international cups (CEV Cup) and leagues (MEZVA) earlier. Last year we have won the bronze medal in the top division national league. The primary school I attended between 1989-1997 is a major source of newly trained/developed talents.
Wonderful performance in the whole tournament by Team Italy! i could not get the highlights yet but the score is enough to make me smile!

Yup, in the end you were simply too good. For our camp, time to pick up the positives, and onward to the World Championship!

The popularity of volleyball does seem to vary a lot from one country to the next. I remember being very surprised at the UK not having a pro league to draw a national team out of for the 2012 Olympics...

Very nice! It's a different setting, but I guess it's fair to say Osasco is a volleyball city, too. The arena is a stone's throw from here :)
