Title: Country tracks
Post by: CTG on January 29, 2007, 01:29:29 PM
I have an idea coming from WRC Stunts: we should make the maps of EVERY country in Stunts - and build a track on that. Here is my first one (just the map):

Second one:

Ah, I did that just a few days ago!

First is without track, second is with.

Sorry, trackblaster doesn't like me.
This are the Netherlands, well, with only one of the wadden isles, which is oversized, and with to big "randmeren" and a too small flevoland, and with a very strange zeeland, and Limburg, and the rest of the country, but I can recognise it...

Nice! In my competition (UnskilledStunts) we had some real map tracks too (with cities). For example Budapest, Gy?r, Kazincbarcika and Tata. And I also remember a Europe track in ZakStunts (ZCT 44?)and a Lake Balaton track (by Zak?) in Track Designing Contest 2003. And of course the rally tracks of WRC by Krys Toff.

City tracks? I can try to make one of my university if you like, but not all roads are straight... ;D
30x30 blocks aren't a lot for a city...
Isn't there any smart person in here who has written a script to genarate a track from any 30x30 picture?
Title: Re: Country tracks
Post by: Krys TOFF on January 29, 2007, 06:15:31 PM
Sorry Overdrijf, I know no script like that.

I started to do country maps for WRC Stunts with the 4th rally : Corsica.

In the future Stunts Career event there will be some other countries represented again as WRC is one of the plannified events of the concept. Australia, Japan, Cyprus, Finland and Mexico are the one selected.

As these tracks are not made yet (only Finland scenery is in progress), I think I'll use your scenery CTG. Can you send it to me by mail please ? ;D

May I suggest you to download and test one on my tracks Overdrijf ? This one : http://stunts.mine.nu/zakstunts/arc/tdc2003/everglades.zip
I like the design of the scenery. Check also the picture attached and the story file. This track have been made for Zak's TDC (track design contest) in 2003.
Check ZakStunts website ( http://stunts.mine.nu/zakstunts ) and select 2003 at the top menu. Then select track design contest in the left menu and you'll see all tracks proposed in this contest.

And ZCT+3 track of 2002 : it was Hungaroring F1 track reverse. ;)

Numerous real tracks made for Stunts available at my finished IMSA Cup competition : http://imsacup.free.fr/Tracks.htm

And many more real tracks adaptations to come for the Stunts Career event (see the Stunts Career part of the forum). ;)

Vic crashes everytime without help. Or is that because I used version 1.1?
What can you put on water with trackblaster? My stunts doesn't like my tracks...

Skid does not always crash at Everglades, I tested it more than once with Stunts 1.1.

As for trackblaster, it allows you to put all kind or roads on water. But once loaded in stunts DO NOT try to edit the track you made with trackblaster, just open it and race it.

Check Tata track (last month's USC track that I designed) and you'll see a part of the crazy tracks you can create with trackblaster. ;)

A skull Island landscape.

Originally made for a race I planned to complete my "Lord of the Wheels" story and also an hommage to Monkey Island games.

I made numerous different tracks on this landscape, and one of them had been used in HOTU Stunts 2004 competition.

And don't forget about Zak's permanent penis shaped tracks. Freud would say many interesting things about that... ;D

Put some hills on it, I didn't care about mountains.

You are welcome. Maybe I'll do some other countries. I tried France, but it sucked - created shape wasn't realistic enough...

Next try (in the evening): United States of America. It will be easy.

Than what doesn't he like? Tracks partly on water? ramps on water? Loading the track by selecting it in the editor?

With me, he does crash everytime...

And why does the story say it's a rollercoaster? I expected a gast track with raised corners, loops and screwdrivers for lots of G's...

Anyway, here's one of the tracks I can't load...

Denmark!

Or, something like it...

Like with the Netherlands, everything mountainous is another country.

Denmark : nice one Overdrijf. ;)

I'll test your "lant" track at home tonight.
Title: Re: Country tracks

I wanted to do Indonesia really bad, but those are a lot of small islands (or at least they become small in a 30X30 grid), can't make mountains of that. So now I have 3: one without other country's, one with some other country's, and one with even Australia.

Nice Denmark! Only corrections could be to make Langeland a little longer north-south, and to make Lolland considerably bigger than Falster.
Title: Re: Country tracks
Post by: BonzaiJoe on January 30, 2007, 05:13:54 PM
Okay I spotted a few other things, but I'm still very impressed:

1. Fyn could be filled up more to the south, becoming a bit more round
2. The northwestern peninsula (Sj?llands Odde) on Zealand is missing, but I guess it's very hard to make
3. There are two major islands off the southwestern coast of Jutland, you could just add one above the one already there.
4. There are several small islands south of Fyn

Talking about Denmark : isn't Groenland a part of Denmark ?
I always thought yes, but Groenland play for themselves in Handball World Cup...
Title: Re: Country tracks
Post by: Overdrijf on January 30, 2007, 09:03:06 PM
About Groenland: I thought so too, but I'm not going to fit it into one map.
About the other comments: thanks, I'll have a look at it. But since these are stunts maps, I'm not sure or everything will work out well. (So please people, don't tell me the name of every island I missed in Indonesia, because it would be a lot of names... :) )
Title: Re: Country tracks

Gr?nland is not totally part of Denmark. It is a danish territory, but they have their own rule. They have their own sports team just like territories with similar status: Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland, Faroe Islands, Cyprus...

But I can't tell you more than Wikipedia can :)

You can... Go to the track editor and press Shift+F1
Title: Re: Country tracks
Post by: Krys TOFF on October 10, 2007, 05:27:05 PM
Or download trackblaster :
- go to ZakStunts : http://stunts.mine.nu/zakstunts
- select "downloads" in the left menu
- click on trackblaster name at the bottom of the page, in the "utilities" part.

F1 to F10 for elements (like with ingame editor, except that multiple squares elements are divided into simple squares).
Space bar to toggle between hill and water elements.

This editor allow you to create also quite funny tracks with lots of graphic bugs due to the game vector graphics engine, and also roads on water. If you do so, don't try to modify your track using in-game editor, simply load it and run it. Else, the in-game editor will delete all racing part over water except elevated roads.

Go, create, and share with us your creations. ;)

In 4dsl the tracks were a consecutive big map of 6 parts.
I remember there were beginner tracks just to be attractive to the most quantity of people possible.
By the way, this is the landscape of 2003's competition. I can't find 2004's, were "born" pipsqueaks like Aburaf and so many others!
the order is:

2 1
4 3
6 5

Title: Re: Country tracks

That looks pretty cool. Next time make them overlap, so you have several half tracks crossing the one you're driving. ;)

A bit closer to the original topic: the maps are less than 2*2(*2)km, so a country really doesn't fit. Perhaps we'dd be better of recreating a park (Central park? Or the one in Budapest?) or a small island or a harbor (or a level from another game) or something.

Of course that does take out most of the fun (if not all) of the recognisable shape, so you're basically back to a normal map.
