From next Monday... ;)

In the worst case it will start with 6 pipsqueaks (let's hope to see more). Maximum is 10, it would be really great - I won't close anybody out of the competition just because we are more than 8. What if the number of pipsqueaks is odd? Maybe Skid Vicious will join the race then... ;)

Car list:

1 - Ferrari GTO
2 - Porsche 962 IMSA (last time we had Jaguar)
3 - Lancia Delta Integrale
4 - Lamborghini Countach
5 - Melange XGT-88
6 - Chevrolet Corvette
7 - Porsche March Indy

Additional cars if necessary (Indy ill be the last for sure): Speedgate XSD, Acura NSX

If I'll have a proper working computer by next week I'll join as well. so count me in as a spare pipsqueak

I won't have much time to race, but regarding it will be 2 weeks/track, I can join but just in case drivers number is odd, to have some real guy to race against instead of Skid.

I'm racing!

And I'm a WILDCARD! I can beat anyone on a good day, but I can lose to anyone if I'm not motivated enough :)

List of pipsqueaks so far:

AbuRaf 70
Bonzai Joe
Chulk
Krys Toff
Zak McKracken
CTG

Minimal number of participants is completed, I guess Duplode and maybe Ayrton will start too. Or at least I hope. ;)

Post by: Duplode on June 19, 2008, 01:28:37 AM
Well, I'm about to jump into a few quite busy weeks, so I prefer to wait and consider a little bit more before confirming my entry. However, 2 weeks/race surely eases things, so it's quite likely I'll be able to join too... ;)

7...  :) One pipsqueak is still required to have an optimal tournament.
Title: Re: UnskilledStunts League 2008
Post by: CTG on June 22, 2008, 02:33:15 PM
No 8th pipsqueak so far...

Options:

1 - Skid Vicious, as an opponent (without any track elements, just the pure flat line of the racing track to avoid his stupid collision)

2 - CTG, as an "opponent" (CTG driving with auto gears)

3 - average result of the other 6 pipsqueaks, as an "opponent"

4 - just leaving out one round for everybody due to a draw

I don't want anybody to leave out this event if he applied for it.

As for the missing pipsqueak, I don't really like options #1 and #2. #4 (auto-victory/draw) is the standard "sane" way of dealing with odd number of opponents, but in USL it introduces a further luck factor, since if the bye comes for a pipsqueak on round when his favourite car will be used he won't have the chance of taking advantage of it to beat someone, and vice-versa. Thus, my position is weak support for #3.

Oh, and BTW let me fully confirm my participation - I won't break CTG's heart... :D

The first track!  ;)

Track name: Kiev (Ukraine)
Designer: CTG
Car: Ferrari GTO
Difficulty: 3/5
Predicted winning time: 1:10.00 (but you all know this kind of prediction is nonsense ;D)
Deadline: 6th July 2008, midnight

Round 2 - Porsche 962 IMSA
CHU   vs   CTG

Round 4 - Lamborghini Countach
CHU   vs   KRY

Round 7 - Porsche March Indy
BON   vs   CHU
Quite a bad lottery result for me. Duplode with GTO is already lost, CTG with IMSA car is lost as well, Countach is not my car, and Krys is really good with it, and BJ in INDY, no comments. If I happen to get a victory or even a draw in any of those 4 rounds, I'll be more than happy.

Well, my draw seems balanced for the moment. Rounds I expect to be crushed: P962 vs. Ayrton and Countach vs. BJ... :D
Off-topic general comment: Now that USL'08 has begun,  I think we have an unprecedented situation: simultaneous competitions with race lengths of one (JACStunts), two (USL), three (FTT), four (WSC) and five-and-a-half (ZakStunts) weeks... ;)

Good news: next track is here.

Bad news: I can't access the attached files at freemail, you have to wait for the results a bit (the trick: I'll forward those e-mails to my MSN addres and open from there - but due to the low speed of that fuckin' freemail at the moment, it could last an hour...  >:()

So:

Track name: Lima (Peru)
Car: Porsche 962 IMSA
Deadline: 20th July 2008, 23:59
Difficulty: 3/5
Predicted winning time: 1:10.00

Site updated! ;)

Bonzai Joe won the round with an amazing finish, well-done (and grrrr... you were lucky facing an extremely busy CTG, especially with his worst car... okay, no excuse - you were a lot better this time)! Ayrton made the biggest KO of the round versus Krys, impressive performance. Alternative last sector from Duplode, seems to be easy but very practical - sometimes easier is better. And a nice victory for Zak, too.

Let's move to the next round: P962 can show a slightly different power balance! ;)

1. Judging from the scarce information given by the current scoreboard, this race will not be too dissimilar to Kiev: Rather large gaps and a nearly unsettling concentration of replays in the final days... and I'll probably indulge in both cases!  :)

2. The terrain, with those lakes surrounded by highlands, is somewhat suggestive. If only the track was called "La Paz" instead of "Lima"... ;)

La Paz was already the name of another Stunts track. On the other hand it's very rare when I try to make a similar terrain/scenery for the city name. Like next one: Venice without buildings on the water. Just water and the road (I was in minimalist designer mood - but the track will be very hard with Lancia! ;))

Before I forget, I publish the next track which starts on Monday. Taste it - it's quite a hard one!

Track name: Venice (Italy)
Car: Lancia Delta Integrale
Racing period: 21st July - 3rd August 2008 (deadline at midnight)
Difficulty: maybe 5/5, if you want to drive really fast
Predicted winning time: hmmm... let's say 1:00.00

It really doesn't look like a 1.00.00 track with the Lancia :D But looks can deceive...

It doesn't look like Venice either, but I guess they must have built a racetrack somewhere else in the lagoon.

Quote from: CTGWe will also have a realistic track in this USL. Which one? You will see... :)
According to track names, it will be Shangaï or Montreal. I tip for Montreal because it's the indy track.
Ssssssssssssssssssssh... :D Yes it will be. Or - because you killed that - I'll change it for another F1 track. :)
It was easy to find by anyone according to track names of next USL events : other cities don't have a real track in their proximity. ;)

But they could think on realistic city/country map or whatever. Like Budapest, Györ, Kazincbarcika, Tata...

Nah, but Montreal is so cool, and now I want to race it, so nevermind  ;)

No mood to update now, so the weekend replays:

Ayrton - 1:11.00
Duplode - 1:13.65
AbuRaf 70 - 1:23.00

From now I'm on the track, my time is too weak with IMSA... ;)

Yep, it feels weird me how my race with Ayrton could somehow end up as "closest" one. C'mon folks, let's shake this a lil' bit more... ;)
As for Venice, the track looks bold and demanding. And, quite literally, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at the 1:00 prediction at the moment... :o First lap to be sent right now anyway  ;)

I forgot to calculate with my short holidays when defining deadline as 3rd August. I leave Budapest on 3rd August (morning) and come back on 7th. Too bad for the updates. I don't want to publish the results with such a big delay as a race is only 2 weeks long, so my question is: which one do you prefer? Moving deadline to...

a, 1st August (Friday)

or

b, 7th August (Thursday)?
Title: Re: UnskilledStunts League 2008
Post by: Krys TOFF on July 21, 2008, 05:54:19 PM
I won't be home and without computer acces from 9th august to 17th.
According to deadline proposed, I prefer 7th August so I'll have a few time to race when I'll be back home before the deadline. If deadline of 3rd track is 1st, then my time published before leaving will be my final one for round 4 as it will mean track 4 will end 16th or 17th, right ?
Title: Re: UnskilledStunts League 2008
Post by: CTG on July 21, 2008, 06:07:21 PM
If deadline is 1st August ---> next race deadline is 17th August. The other option contains one week delay ---> 24th August. So Mr Töff votes for the second one. I'm totally neutral in this question, Ayrton will beat me easily. ;D
Title: Re: UnskilledStunts League 2008
Post by: Duplode on July 21, 2008, 06:33:12 PM
I would vote for the first option if it wouldn't impair anyone's ability to race (not the case). In fact, however, I can't really see what would be so bad with delaying the update and introducing a week break as long as we are warned beforehand, so I suggest keeping the deadline on the 3rd and starting round 4 at 10th. If CTG really thinks that's not an option, cast my vote as for 7th of August.
Title: Re: UnskilledStunts League 2008
Post by: CTG on July 21, 2008, 09:44:33 PM
It's not an option because I also would like to fight versus Ayrton on the last day. ;)
Title: Re: UnskilledStunts League 2008
Post by: Chulk on July 21, 2008, 10:42:54 PM
I don't have a strong opinion. Only 7th suits me better as I will be on holidays, hence, I'll have more time to race in that hard track. But take my opinion as a very "light" one.

I am about to send a revolutionary replay to USL. Not that it's fast or contains good tricks, but it is -as far as I know- the first Stunts replay driven on an airplane, also probably the first competition replay driven in (well, above :)), Siberia, and also the first replay interrupted for a while by turbulence :)

Few words about the overall standings: it's obvious that Bonzai Joe and Ayrton are the main aspirants for the final victory, their match will decide it in the 6th round. The third place is a bigger question: Zak, Duplode and CTG have the same points at the moment. Maybe Zak has the hardest exercise in the last 3 races, while Duplode vs CTG will take place in the last round. Chulk's 6th place seems to be safe but possibly he can't step higher with these time results - his opponents will be the current podiumers. AbuRaf and Krys will have a cruel battle with Indy to avoid the league's last place... based on the duels of round 5, 6 and 7.

Opponent list:

ABU - CTG, DUP, KRY (prediction: 0+0+1, final result: 1 pt)
AYR - CHU, BON, ZAK (prediction: 2+2+2, 2 bonus points, final result: 17 pts)
BON - ZAK, AYR, CHU (prediction: 2+0+2, 2 bonus points, final result: 15 pts)
CHU - AYR, ZAK, BON (prediction: 0+0+0, final result: 4 pts)
CTG - ABU, KRY, DUP  (prediction: 2+2+0, 1 bonus point, final result: 11 pts)
DUP - KRY, ABU, DUP (prediction: 2+2+2, final result: 12 pts)
KRY - DUP, CTG, ABU (prediction: 0+0+1, final result: 1 pt)
ZAK - BON, CHU, AYR (prediction: 0+2+0, 1 bonus point, final result: 9 pts)

Argh, this Ayrton is a tough one to beat. If I can't win in the Countach, how am I supposed to win in the Corvette?
Live teamwork worked fantastic for Shanghai (Zak and I were racing side by side on each our laptop and comparing section times), and I will miss that on the last tracks.
Judging by his live racing results, Chulk could be a lot better if he spent enough time on replay handling, but I guess it's too late for him in this race.

I mostly agree with CTG's predictions, particularly with respect to the fact that it's very very unlikely I will get any more bonus points (damn Venice and its quarter-pipe trick... :-\). If things happen as CTG described it will be remarkable how we'll have gold medal and bronze medal matches on rounds 6 and 7, if only in reverse order...

I think Rijad will be tight - maybe the only difference between the replays will be the point where you reached powergear. I guess the best pipsqueaks will do it around the loop.

3 pipsqueaks are still missing 78 mins before deadline, BJ sent only his noRH replay...  :-\

Weekend replays:

Ayrton 1:03.60
CTG 1:04.85
Duplode 1:05.95
AbuRaf 1:16.05

We're looking at a strange draw in Zak McKracken vs Chulk...

Time is up... BUT! Because of the strange & surprising low level of activity - Krys (internet problems), Zak (too busy in China?) and Chulk (???) are missing from the scoreboard - I have to change the rules a bit. I decided to allow these three pipsqueaks to complete a lap in the next week. Reason: Chulk and Zak are opponents in this round, so it's not unfair to let them play (seeing Ayrton vs Bonzai Joe battle, bonuses are safe); while Krys is my opponent. It doesn't hurt anybody's points, so I hope you agree with this decision.

Last hour replay from Bonzai Joe: 1:03.55...  :o From now Ayrton can't win USL - only BJ can lose it! Official results and replays in one week (depending on the missing pipsqueaks), Montreal track will start tomorrow.

yep, I'm way too busy. Have a half-finished replay though, I'll complete it this week.

Montreal track will start tomorrow.

Correcting: it will start only after I got those replays on Rijad from the 3 pipsqueaks, latest on Sunday. Don't forget, this is not an extra week for racing, just to finish and send in your replays. If I don't get them before Sunday midnight, I have to punish the missing pipsqueak(s). And just an advice for the last round: please send a security replay in the first days to avoid this awful situation. Thank you!

Somehow I think that must be the problem, let's hope nothing serious happened. Maybe he just went to Thailand, sex tourism is quite active there. ;)

I sent a replay! Don't remember the replay time though. I did it on a friends PC so I sent it from there (or so I thought to have done). I'll send it this week. (Not today, girlfriend's Birthday, gotta help  ;) ) Thanks for letting us solve this problem.

Edit: I knew I had said it somewhere else:

You are misunderstanding the situation. One shot this week = finishing your replay or sending the forgotten one for Rijad. To avoid this kind of special week in the last round (Montreal track), I suggested to race as early as possible. This is not a rule, just an advice.

Where are you, Krys? Or somebody hacked Töff's account?

No time to update now but here is the new track - the last one for this USL.

Track name: Montreal (based on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve)
Car: Porsche March Indy
Deadline: 12th October 2008, midnight
Difficulty: 2.5/5
Predicted winning time: 57.00
SPECIAL RULE: you have to complete the hairpin (bottom of the map)!

Montreal race started, site is updated. Because of Krys' inactivity I suspended the result of our duel, giving the chance for him to complete a lap in a few days (paralel to Montreal race).

Krys: if you can't race, please sign it as soon as you can - and I'm going to use the rules written for this case.

Replays will be available after Krys Toff's attempt or after his negative answer.

I just realized it's worth for Krys not to send a replay...

Quote from: USL rules(average of the round - worst result of the round - 2) seconds for the loser

Average time of the round was ~1:07.50, AbuRaf did 1:16.05 at the last place. That would mean -10.55 time difference for Krys. Watching his performance in the first 5 rounds, maybe this is better for him (unless he can do at least 1:15.40).

Ayrton's replay arrived with 3 hours delay in the mailing system, official results only in the morning. BJ and CTG have their official final times on the scoreboard; possibly no more replays from Zak, AbuRaf and Chulk; Ayrton's replay just arrived, no clue about Duplode and Krys.

Well... it finished - even if 2 weeks later than it was previously thought.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BONZAI JOE! He showed a really tactical racing (only 3rd in overall times), always giving the performance required to the victory and so he kept his perfect record (7-0-0). Well-done, champion! ;)

Ayrton had far the best overall time, getting 4 bonus points - but losing versus Bonzai Joe and CTG gave him only the second place. He was a noble opponent of BJ!

CTG earned the most round victories and finished 3rd with the same score as Ayrton had - but the rules say time difference has a priority in this case... Only Cork's Crew members could steal points from him.

Duplode showed a stable strong performance, losing only versus the later podiumers. With a luckier draw he would be able to finish higher than 4th.

Chulk's performance was getting better in each rounds and after beating Zak with Corvette he provided a safe 5th place for himself.

Zak made a great start with 2 victories but the unlucky car/opponent order made him fall back to 6th position - with a lot better overall time than Chulk had.

AbuRaf showed his usual enthusiasm in racing but it was a bit few in this case. His victory over Krys gave him a well-deserved 7th place.

Krys Toff's performance was an absolute disappointment. 0 points, far the worst overall time, one missed race. I don't know what happened to him but I hope to see a more motivated horny Frenchman in the new USC season!

Bitersweet taste for me after this race - when I manage to finish ahead of Ayrton (first time ever!!) and BJ on the Indy race I get beaten in the duel that actually matters... hats off to CTG for his three round wins - the fact it didn't propelled him any further than bronze only shows how tight those duels were. Overall, even if I failed to either reach a podium or defeat one of the ZakStunts champions, I feel very satisfied in having been part of such a contest at the highest level - and again Bonzai Joe shows all of his supreme class by taking the trophy home. Congratulations, overlord!  ;)

Thank you, future overlord  ;)

It was great to try a different kind of competition than the usual F1 style. I did indeed drive very tactically, spending far more time on Shanghai and (especially) Rijad than any of the other tracks (on Kiev I really only worked hard on the ending, which proved to be enough) and trying not to get tired of racing.
