Title: F1 Tipping
Post by: Mingva on May 10, 2003, 06:52:31 PM
F1 Tipping is a free online Formula One prediction competition. It is a game where players predict the result of each Grand Prix as we follow the GP season to each race.

I'm inviting all pipsqueaks to join to Stunts league (http://www.f1tipping.com/profiles.php?league=227). At the moment there are Juank_23 and I. My current rank is 132 ;)

So, go to http://www.f1tipping.com/, sign-up and submit your tips until saturday qualification.

Btw, who would have tipped Eddie in QF at IMSA and Alain not qualified ???

I found it funny. I signed in and made a tip for next GP in Austria.
I hope to earn some points...

Good. ;)
I think both Ferrari drivers + Alonso and Kovalainen will dominate the beginning of the season. Heidfeld may be the last to complete the top 5.Toyota is not ready so far, nor is Honda. Hamilton and Kubika may be seen more in the second half of the season, but not at the beginning.
Title: Re: F1 Tipping
Post by: Akoss Poo a.k.a. Zorromeister on March 15, 2007, 01:46:54 PM
I think many many people underestimate the possible performance of the Renault team. They're the world champion team, the best car, and I think the car is a very important factor in Formula-1 today (especially without Schumacher who won with the weaker Ferrari many times), more important than it should be. So okay, Raeikk?nen, Alonso, Massa, probably they're the 3 best pilots today - Renault can win the first race I think. I predicted for a Fisichella victory btw.

This year no Schumacher, he was my favourite since I watch Formula-1 (since 1992), I followed almost his full career... I had no other favourite before him... so now it's really difficult to find a new favourite. Kubica is the closest to this spot. :)
Title: Re: F1 Tipping
Post by: Krys TOFF on March 15, 2007, 02:29:23 PM
Quote from: Akoss PooI predicted for a Fisichella victory btw.
Fisico may seem better than rookie Kovalainen, but I'm sure that Kovalainen will have a better rank in the end of the year than Fisico. Sure, Fisico will make less fault, he is no rookie, but Kovalainen is really the new Alonso for Renault.
Title: Re: F1 Tipping
Post by: Krys TOFF on March 17, 2007, 09:26:48 AM
Kovalainen beginning is not as good as I expected so far. On the other hand, Hamilton is better than expected.
Too bad for Massa that he had his gearbox problem. Z73 syndrome maybe. ;D :D

Oh, Renault qualifying is even worse than in Australia ! Fisicho is slower than Kovalainen for the 1st time, and probably not for the last time of the season.
Battle will be hard between Ferrari and McLaren.

About qualifying results, I tipped Massa-Raikkonen-Hamilton and it's Massa-Alonso-Raikkonen. Already 14 points earned.
My tip for the race was Massa-Raikkonen-Alonso, we'll see tomorrow if I was right.

Only Chulk and I tipped so far. Go on guys, deadline is getting close to make your tips. I bet on a Ferrari victory. Look at the 1st practice : they are 1 second faster than McLaren ! Humidity and temperature was the problem of Ferrari during GP of Malaysia, this GP in Barhein looks more than Australian GP conditions. My tip : Felipe-Kimi-Fernando (and Lewis 4th).

Ferrari slight horsepower advantage won't be the key for this track compared to McLaren. And Ferrari car is even disadvantaged by its larger width.
So, my tip for both qualify and race :
1/ Hamilton (see why in Hamilton topic ;)),
2/ Alonso (always good in Monaco, winner in 2006),
3/ Raikonnen (he has to reach podium and beat Massa or else he will soon be considered as the "2nd driver" in Ferrari team, and he is quite good here too as he won in 2005).

Nope, this track is for Ferrari I think due to horsepower needed.
Team rankings IMO regarding this track :
Ferrari > McLaren >>> BMW >> Renault = Red Bull > Toyota = Williams = Toto Rosso (almost a new car for this GP for Toto Rosso) >> the rest of the teams including pathetic Honda.

In Spain, Super Aguri (Honda engine) was better than Honda official team. Pathetic for Honda.
Toyota can only count with Trulli, Ralf Schumi is close to get fired and replaced by Franck Montagny if he doesn't prove soon that he can follow the rythm of Jarno Trulli.

I would like to see Montagny racing something else than a Super Aguri. I'm sure he could match Trulli after a few races.
I would like to see Sebastien Bourdais racing F1 too. When he did tests last winter for Toto Rosso, he "exploded" the reference times of Speed and Luizzi.

Perfect tips for the qualification, for the third time in my f1tipping career. ;)

Let's hope I was mistaken when I predicted Hamilton-Alonso-Massa also for the top3, because in that case I would be very angry at myself: I only chose the quinella bonus (Hamilton-Alonso) instead of the trifecta (Hamilton-Alonso-Massa)... B?FF!!!

Qualifying:         0
1st   Lewis Hamilton      Wrong
2nd   Fernando Alonso      Wrong
3rd   Felipe Massa      Wrong

Race:         0
1st   Lewis Hamilton      Wrong
2nd   Fernando Alonso      Wrong
3rd   Felipe Massa      Wrong

Bonus:         0
Fastest Lap   Lewis Hamilton      Wrong
Last Finisher   Christijan Albers      Wrong
Finishers   15      Wrong

Quinella   Lewis Hamilton
Fernando Alonso
   Wrong

Trifecta

   Wrong

Team Bonus      Not in a league   Wrong

F*CK OFF KIMI RAIKK?NEN!!! He beat Hamilton's fastest lap, stole away 10 points from me. Also, 1 more pipsqueaks should have abandoned the race to give me another 10 points! Very annoying! (I also miss my trifecta bonus...) Despite these, I scored 75 points, career highest (beat my 2004 Australia 70 points)

Yep, with trifecta you would have 50 points more, so it would have been 135 points. Winner of this round had 135 points. So you may have been winner ex-aequo... If you had chosen trifecta. ;D

Title: Re: F1 Tipping

Trifecta or quinella?

Chances of getting quinella (regarding only Ferrari, McLaren or BMW can really be on the podium)

Total conbinations: 6*5=30
Winning combinations 2*1=1

So chances to win quinella are 2/30 = 1/15

Chances of getting trifecta (regarding only Ferrari, McLaren or BMW can really be on the podium)

Total combinations: 6*5*4= 120
Winning combinations: 1*1*1=1

So chances to win trifecta are 1/120

Chances to win trifecta are 8 times lower than winning quinella but the points awarded are only 4.33 higher so the question is: Does it worth the risk to bet on trifecta? I think not.

Ferrari last tests were promising, Ferrari will win I think. A new championship will start from now, "Kimi strikes back" will be the quote of the week-end. We'll see after the friday practice if I'm completely wrong or not. :D
Title: Re: F1 Tipping
Post by: Chulk on June 29, 2007, 12:22:16 AM
Even if Ferrari is good from now on, Kimi won't strike back as team orders will give top priority to Massa, at least I think so. Anyway I think this year title is already decided for McLaren (hope I'm not wrong)

I don't think there will be team orders so soon in the season. Mathematically, both pipsqueaks can be champions, and Kimi has a lot to prove compared to his last results. Kimi will win, or he won't finish the race due to engine blow-up, but he can't afford to stay behind Massa without a fight.
Title: Re: F1 Tipping

Friday practice proved me right :
1 6 Kimi R?ikk?nen Ferrari 1:15.382
2 5 Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:15.447
3 1 Fernando Alonso McLaren-Mercedes 1:16.154
Exactly my tip for qualify and race result. ;D
Title: Re: F1 Tipping
Post by: Krys TOFF on July 01, 2007, 05:17:35 PM
As I expected, Kimi is back, and Ferrari did 1 and 2.
I will have 51 points for this GP because qualifying and race made Alonso away from podium, but I got correct number of finishers and quinella bonus. Good. :)
Title: Re: F1 Tipping
Post by: Krys TOFF on July 02, 2007, 05:40:01 PM
Not 51 but 53 (I always forget the 2 bonus points for team).

Don't forget to tip as next GP is next week-end in UK. A Lewis Hamilton victory there would make Britains crazy, but it won't happen as Kimi will win again I think.
Title: Re: F1 Tipping

Raikk?nen's victory was because of Massa's bad luck. I think Massa will win in Britain.

Quote from: Akoss PooRaikk?nen's victory was because of Massa's bad luck. I think Massa will win in Britain.
Nope.
Kimi did the perfect Schumi-style victory : his best laps were all made when Felipe was in pitstop.
1st pitstop for them both : he comes from 5 seconds late to 2 seconds late only.
2nd pitstop : he was 1.5 seconds behind and finally he comes out 1 second before Felipe.
After a perfect start Kimi did what was needed to stay in touch as long as he was behind, then he raced at his best both times when Massa was changing tyres, and finally he finished before, slightly helped by a little bit long 2nd pitstop of Felipe.
How many times Schumi managed to bypass his direct opponent this way ? That is with marvelous laps when the opponent was in pitstop ? I can't count because there's so much.

Now we have 8 races, 4 best pipsqueaks all won 2 of them. Lewis is leading only because he finished all the races in the podium. This championship is really interesting, I like it this way.

Mmmm, according to 1st free practice it seems difference between Ferrari and McLaren is really small.
1 Lewis Hamilton McLaren-Mercedes 1:21.100
2 Kimi R?ikk?nen Ferrari 1:21.211
3 Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:21.285
4 Fernando Alonso McLaren-Mercedes 1:21.675
And Hamilton will be over-motivated at his homeland race.
I don't know if I should keep my Kimi victory tip or change it... ::) ???

I'm not so good, only 34th of 1653 in overall F1tipping ranking... :D
I fear to decrease in ranking soon because I'll be on holidays weeks 31 to 33. So I'll have to tip very early for Hungarian GP. Hopefully, there's only 1 GP during my holidays. Last years there was 2 and so I couldn't tip for one of them, which made me loose precious points.

Reminder : next GP is this week-end, so teams won't have time to improve any part of their car, including fiability for Ferrari engines (3 or 4 blew up, sadly for Bourdais mainly because he would have finished 4th if his engine had not blew up 3 laps before the end).

My tips for Bahrain :
Qualif : Felipe / Kimi / Heiki
Race : Felipe (he has to win, another mistake or average result and his season is over and Kimi officially designed number 1 in Ferrari) / Kimi / Lewis
Other infos : quinella 100% Ferrari, fastest lap for Kimi.

Despite my reservations about Massa I will renew my hopes on him for now... Some other more risky predictions:
Sat: Felipe/Kimi/Heidi
Sun: Felipe/Lewis/Heiki
Fastest lap: Felipe; Quinella: Felipe / Lewis

One question about next race: If Hamilton makes the fastest lap time in quali, he'll be placed 11 on the grid as he got 10 places of penalty for his stupid accident (Maybe he's colourblind, or he's really an idiot). Will F1 tipping give Hamilton tip for 1st place in Quali as correct or should we leave Hamilton out of the next quali session?

Useful question indeed. F1Tipping rules state: Qualifying results are taken from the Final Qualifying session and before any grid demotion (or promotion) as a result of a penalty. So we're free to place Hamilton in Top 3...

Again, don't forget to tip. I bet for Lewis as poleman (home race), but Kimi as winner and fastest lap.
Consecutive best race lap record is 7. If Kimi gets the best lap in Silverstone, it will be his 6th in a row. I hope he'll beat that record. ;)

It was expected to all have low scores as the race was really insane, but having all the same score had really low odds.

Well, Hockenheim is over and these are the results:

1 Chulk 28
2 KrysToff 26
3 Duplode 26
4 AbuRaf70 24

I guess we all got L. Hamilton's Pole & Victory, but none of the rest of the scores, except for me who got Massa on podium for quali.

These are full standings after 10 rounds:

Rank Name Total
1     Chulk   299
2     Krys    295
3   Aburaf   249
4   Duplode 239
5     CTG     71
6     BJ        19
7 vamologo   12

Title: Re: F1 Tipping
Post by: Chulk on July 23, 2008, 02:27:52 AM

That's true, but only partly. If it where always the same drivers in quali and race to be on podium, we all would get more points. And bonus points would become important. The thing is that last results where somewhat crazy, or did anyone expected Piquet Jr. to be 2nd?

Notice how there were distinct non-standard poduimers on the last four races - Coulthard in Canada, Trulli in France, Rubens in Britain and now Nelsinho Piquet, not to mention Sutil's would-be fourth in Monaco. Now only the late Super Aguri, Force India and Toro Rosso are podiumless this season... anybody willing to bet on Vettel for 3rd in Hungary? :D

My qualif tips were Lewis/Felipe/Fernando, this is where I got points (correct tip for Lewis and Felipe).
For the race I tipped Kimi/Lewis/Heikki, so I got only bad position point for Lewis.
No bonus point at all (except team bonus) in this race, which is unusual for me.

Officially, with Lewis penalty (25 seconds), the podium is Felipe-ick-Lewis, and not Lewis-Felipe-Nick.
I felt crazy with last 2 laps. Too bad for Kimi, and also for Bourdais (2 places lots in last lap because of Heidfeld). But, hell yes, what a good GP ! This is how F1 should always be !!! Nice battles, lots of overtakings (extraordinary start by Kimi), battle everywhere on the classification all along the race. Excellent. :) :) :)

Pffff, thanks again to Tilke and his bad tracks, all the same, whithout soul or real interest, and without overtaking... Shitty Bernie-Max-Tilke triumvirat. >:( :-X

What an excellent race! Last 2 laps were amazing! But, I somehow felt like it was the best "goodbye" a circuit can have. Like fate new this was the last race in good old Spa, and wanted to say thanks...

BTW, Lewis penalty and Nick's great last lap helped me quite a lot in F1tipping. 31 points to win the round (if only by 2 points) on Aburaf and Krys.

Krys will probably not tip for Singapore night GP, so I hope to do well and enlarge my advantage on him.

My tips for quali and race:

1. Lewis Hamilton
2. Kimi Raikkonen
3. Robert Kubica

Last finisher: R. Barrichello (he sucks and so does his car!)

Only 24 points for me for Kimi and Lewis on podium for quali, Lewis in podium for race and correct number of finishers (15). Luckily for me, Kimi counted as finisher (although he DNT) and that gave 10 points for me to make my score a bit less shamefull.
Krys got 34 points and now leads on me for 5 points. Great round by Abu with 51 points!
