Let's start the topic with good news:
SAPA Fehérvár AV 19 managed to reach the Austrian ice hockey league (EBEL) playoff after winning the qualification group (matches for 7th-12th place, first two qualifies).

Well, it is better to continue here, at least CTG won't close this topic at the end of the year (which is a very surprising habit of him since he is the one who comments on 10 years old posts), and it will be possible to discuss the sports events of this year later as well.
Miskolci Jegesmedvék finished 3rd in the regular season of MOL League.

Bolzano (Bozen in German) Red Foxes (Italy, South Tyrol) are champions
SAPA Fehérvár Alba Volán 19 from Hungary: 10th in regular season, 7th in mid season, reached playoff with this, playoff, round 1, lost 0-4 against later champions, Bolzano Red Foxes

Finished 1st in division-2/a world championship (23rd in the world), promoted for division-1/b next season
Hungary U18:
Playing for first place against Japan, leading 5-2 after 2 periods in division-1/b world championship, if it stays, they will finish 17th in the world and get promoted for division-1/a next season
Team Hungary:
Battling from Sunday in division-1/a in Korea against Austria (1st seed), Slovenia (2nd), Japan (4th), South Korea (5th) and Ukraine (6th), this means 17th-22nd in the world.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand yes, we've done it! Hungary is among the best 16 U18 teams in the world! Hungary-Japan 8-4 and we are promoted!!!
Btw the NHL playoffs have already started, in the first match day, the Penguins won (vs. Columbus, 4-3), while the Flyers (Cryers) will play their first game soon against the Rangers.
Ice hockey, division-1/a world championships
Hungary
vs. South Korea 8-4
vs. Ukraine 0-3 (awful match)
vs. Slovenia 0-2
vs. Austria 4-5 after overtime (we could have won)
vs. Japan 5-4 after shootout (it could have been easier)
With a very young team, it is an acceptable result. It's a pity that due to the short preparation period, some players remained in the squad even if they were not in good shape, and the good lines were only found during the tournament (in the 2nd period of the Slovenia match).
1 Slovenia 12 (15-6) - promoted
2 Austria 10 (20-14) - promoted
3 Japan 10 (14-14)
4 Ukraine 7 (18-13)
5 Hungary 6 (16-18)
6 South Korea 0 (12-30) - relegated
In the NHL playoffs, the Penguins are leading against the Blue Jackets 3-2 in the series, while the Criers are trailing 3-2 against the Rangers. ;D
Penguins are in next round with an away victory last night! :-)
Penguins out...

Switzerland failed to reach QFs in IIHF world champs...
Sad but true: the mighty Slovaks are also out. I still can't understand how could we lose the last 10 minutes(!) 0-4 against France (final result: 3-5). Not counting these 10 minutes, our performance was acceptable, and anything could have happened in the playoff round...
Forever Slovakia!
Switzerland ended 10th, Norway 12th - two teams I like, but finished lower than they world ranking.
But can Sweden forget the Salt Lake City match against Belarus? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFQnIFN1pYo Today, it's Sweden vs. Belarus again, quarterfinals again.
My bets for today: Canada, Russia, USA and... erm... dunno... Sweden or Belarus...
Räikkönen, ice hockey version ;D:

Excellent handball results for Hungary!
A few weeks ago:
Slovenia-Hungary 32-26 (plus 3 for Slovenia on aggregate), Hungarian team failed to qualify for the World Championships next year...
Women, juniors, world championships:
Hungary-Portugal 21-20... awful...
Cavendish abandoned this year's Tour de France! It's a pity, no piss will be thrown at him again... at least not this year...
Again handball.
The overstarred Hungarian U18 squad beat Norway, Russia in the group stage of the European Championship, then in the eighth finals, they lost to the Netherlands. After prevailing the game and leading 20-15, the girls lost 21-22... awful... They can play only for 9th-16th places.
While the men's junior team, which is said to be weak and far away from world's elite, is playing for 9th-12th places in the European Championships. In the qualifiers, we beat Croatia, and now we beat Slovakia and Israel (though we sucked -7 against Slovenia and Sweden). It seems it is not worse than the girls' result since there is no non-European powerhouse in men's handball.
