I'm pretty sure I'll be out in 1st round (final exams are during that week) but I'll need some distraction, so I'm in!

AbuRaf? Afullo? Rotoi? SuperBrian? Usrin? Zakracken? Anybody else? (Akoss Poo declared in PM that he won't participate.)

Some details and modifications:

- Power rankings will be based on the WRL standings (after Wuhan's deadline). If an old superstar appears from nowhere (Gutix/Ayrton/Biker?), the WRL leader can be in a huge trouble. :D
- Tracks: a little modification to make my life a bit easier, 15 or 20 tracks in overall, the unused tracks will remain in the pack for the next round. Some retro tracks will be applied, too.
- Website: under construction.  ::)

I just realized that Chulk is not on the WRL at the moment. Might be a CHU-CTG quarter-final? ??? :o

WRL standings at the moment:

1 CTG 3327
2 POO 3062
3 DUP 2889
4 ROK 1300
5 DRE 1178
6 USR 1163
7 BÖL 1117
8 ABU 1050
9 BZJ 867
10 SBR 756
11 ZAK 575
12 MIN 419
13 DST 336
14 ROT 306
15 AFU 237
16 BÖB 44
17 SAT 18
18 GIG 17
CHU without rank (no races in the last 5 months)

Two slots are left. I hope ABU will join (why not, he's one of the most enthusiastic pipsqueak), I guess the other one might be... hmmm... SBR? USR? DST? (or ROT/ZAK?). The tree is quite uncertain with that, but it's almost sure we will have Duplode vs Afullo and Chulk vs CTG in the quarter-finals.

AbuRaf: it will be a cup with 8 pipsqueaks and special rules. Duels of the quarter-finals will be based on the WRL positions, the 1st plays with the 8th, 2nd vs 7 th, 3rd vs 6th and 4th vs 5th. The speciality of the event: the pipsqueaks can decide which track and car they use (I will provide several tracks and you can also choose from may cars, see in the first post). The lower ranked pipsqueak of the duel can decide about the track or the car, while the higher ranked will pick the other parameter (if the lower ranked pipsqueak choose the car, the opponent can pick a track).

Waiting for the 8th applicant... ::)

Track project in progress. There will be damned hard and easy tracks, with various length. It can be a tactical weapon to choose a decent circuit (e.g. pure right corner track or icy corners against certain opponents :D).

Dstien is in!!! ;)

So, the duels:
DUP (#2) - AFU (#7)
DRE (#3) - DST (#6)
CTG (#1) - CHU (#8)
ABU (#4) - BZJ (#5)

From now, it's your turn to choose the tracks and cars.

Firstly: Afullo, Dstien, Chulk and Bonzai Joe can choose a track or car. Please sign your choice here - so your opponents can choose the other parameter.
Secondly: Duplode, Dreadnaut, AbuRaf and me will choose a car or track, depending on what did our opponent pick

One more thing: replay sending rules are the same as in USC. Just publish them here.

AbuRaf: quarter-finals from 1st December to 7th December 2014 (midnight). Replays should be published here, just like in USC.

Afullo, Chulk: please make your selection, as soon as possible!

Dreadnaut: it's your turn to choose a track!

Duplode: prepare for a quick selection, right after Afullo's choice.

Choice of other duels is not binding you. Theoretically all the duels can be with the same track (if you want) - the only limitation is that you cannot use that track in the next rounds.

Btw Tata is a great choice. Mr. Töff was the master of crazy tracks.

Okay.

If Afullo and Chulk do not make a selection in 24 hours, their opponents will (and the other parameter will be randomized).

It seems neither Afullo, nor Chulk made a selection (there's 5 hours left for them).

DUP: prepare with a quick choice in the evening. The other parameter will be randomized.

Chulk vs me: I've already signed to Chulk that
- if he takes a track, I'll pick Corvette (his favorite car)
- if he takes a car, I'll choose a short track where the number of right corners is higher than the left corners'

If he won't use his selection in time, I'm going to pick Corvette.

Why? I don't hate Corvette. What's more, I've won the last two Corvette tracks in ZakStunts.

At least we will both enjoy the race.

Don't worry, if you and I will both qualify to the semi-finals (25% according to the maths), I'll choose a pure left corner track or Melange. :D

About the randomized parameters: I've sent the list of cars and the tracks to dreadnaut - with a certain order. I ask the sender of the next message - except DRE and me - to say two numbers between 1 and 20 (the first for DUP-AFU, if Duplode picks a track, the second for CHU-CTG), and one number between 1 and 28 (for DUP-AFU, if Duplode picks a car).

1 to 20 for DUP-AFU
1 to 20 for CHU-CTG

After that, we can finally start the tournament (actually two duels are already "running").

I ask the next posting person to say two numbers as follows (even DUP can say, he doesn't know the order of the tracks - dreadnaut will confirm them, based on my private message, sent yesterday):
1 to 20 for DUP-AFU
1 to 20 for CHU-CTG

After that, we can finally start the tournament (actually two duels are already "running").

One more thing: replay sending rules are the same as in USC. Just publish them here.

Yes. If I won't be a finalist, the last duel can be different from this aspect, to provide some space for the right timing. (Public replays can avoid any kind of misuse by the competition manager... ::))

First run. Millgame is a claustrotrack with very few aerials. F40 ended up being a reasonable car, as it is not too slow (which would make it boring) and has decent handling.

Well, if I won't qualify the semis, we can turn to sending replays in e-mail - if you want.

Corvette and right corners will eliminate the good old CTG.  ;)

Btw this tournament is just an experimental one. If I'll be alive (same time, next year), the rules will be changed based on this year's experiences. E.g. picking a track/car could be more fluent with a selection tool, placed on the website.

Sorry, I just couldn't find the time to race. The online course I was talking online for work have some navigator platform problems and everything had to be done in a rush during the past week. Final exam got changed to last Friday (it was supposed to be next Friday) and, to make things complete, I got a stallin lot of work to do before next Wednesday. I am really, really sorry as I've been wanting to come back to racing regularly since a few months (Alan knows, we've talked about it).

Great! I have a nice choice for both cases. ;)

So, results of the quarter-finals (site update in the evening):
DUPLODE - Afullo
Dreadnaut - DSTIEN
CTG - Chulk
AbuRaf70 - BONZAI JOE

Semi-final duels:
Duplode (#2) - Dstien (#6), Dstien can choose first
CTG (#1) - Bonzai Joe (#5), Bonzai Joe can choose first

Iceland, Millgame and Teardrop tracks are out.
Car of DUP-DST semi-final cannot be F40 and Acura, while Corvette and Jaguar are excluded from the CTG-BZJ battle.

Please make your selection today or tomorrow.

One more question: would you like to have a bronze match? (please vote in the poll above)

???

I've chosen LM002, because:

- it's a pretty boring car, staying mainly on the ground - so corner speed is the key instead of stupid aerial Stunts and magic carpets
- we gave more or less the same score in 'Car ratings' (BZJ 6/10, CTG 5.5)
- I have to spare Melange/P962 for the final :P (kidding, you will win this duel)

However, I still give 60% for your victory.

I have to admit that Tluafed was my secret preliminary choice against you for any cars. Relatively slow right corners at the beginning - left corner rampage in the second half. :D

However, Default in any version is always a good platform for tight races.

Technically, there's no significant difference between auto and manual gears on this track. You can reach 5th gear already in the first flat part - after that you mustn't shift down.

1:19.70, some magic carpets are necessary to win this one.

Pathetic warm-up lap.

Still without RH?

No, I mean my RH time. I guess I could improve the NoRH.

Dunno why, but I thought you and Duplode had an agreement about a pure noRH final.

Well, it could certainly look like that, but our NoRH-battle at the beginning of the month was purely spontaneous. I did consider the idea though :-)

How idealistic  :)

Throwing in the towel with an additional -49 bytes and +1 smashed sign. One day I'll have to step through the replay buffer to figure out how you all round those corners at such high speeds without drifting aimlessly off course.

Congratulations to BJ, Dupe and The Big C with podiums. And a special thanks to CTG for organizing this eventful event. I find this public replay submission format very motivating compared to the usual blind racing against god-like opponents.

Not bad indeed - mine's a mere 35.35. Congratulations BJ!

Well what would you know...

Thanks a lot. It's been 6 years since my last competition victory.

It was a fun way to race. I liked the weekly deadlines.
