The only "large" city in Hungary is Budapest.

I bet the first view may look pretty similar today but not the second.

indeed :) the first one is the CHain bridge, photographed from the Pest side, while the second is an old residential quarter photographed from the Castle hill.
Looks something like this now:

I am not able to recognise the building in the front of the second postcard, so this one may be off a bit, but the small hill is definitely the same in the back - I guess the photo is off to the right by a few hundred meters compared to the postcard

Yes, it was the first bridge built to connect Buda and Pest (which were separate cities back then). It was completed in 1849.

Our neighborhood in Stavanger, in the 1950s. The hilltop where the photo was taken is covered by forest now, allowing no view in this direction. Anyway, now there are 10x more houses with 10x smaller yards across the area.
