  • Driveable car shape for the starting-line truck (http://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=1137.msg35552#msg35552)

The shape maybe drivable, but you need more  8)
But I like the idea of a truck race one day.
So I'll try to finish wat was intended.
For now I copied the data of the LM,

(Game editing on my phone, haha)

Happy driving.
Daniel.

Updated the res file a bit (needs more work)
but i found it irritating that i hadn't changed the name of the car yet.

I have decided it will be a DAF 1300 Turbo.
a 1300CC V6
Build mid 1980's until early 90's.

I've been playing with the car stats a bit (now a 6 gear. but messy work)
But not bad for my first 10 minutes with Carblaster without any help file

I did find the wiki page, but later. I'll read it first before continuing.

a lot of fun to play with.

Really cool! I'm about to go to bed now, but I'll try to download it and try it tomorrow and it definitely is a car that shouldn't be missing. It's part of the game!

I confess I have never tried to create anything with Car Blaster yet. I think I have to change that and start trying some combinations :)

Been busy with stressed,
got a basic dashboard running.  (its a bit to modern for my taste, but the best i could find at the moment)

still sounds like the LM but i don't know how to change that yet.

can somebody help me with the transparency with the dash?
can't get it to work, although stressed does see the alpha.

:)

Stunts uses a mask for transparancy. So you have a dast, that's the top op the dashboard, and then you've got the dasm, just a black-and-alpha picture. The game combines these two while running. Is that the setup you have right now?

I have not.
I'll have to look into this.

Another big thing on the dashboards are the mystery bites, displayed in Stressed below the width, height, X and Y. We have no idea what they do, but they're linked to the width and height somehow, so you always need to use mystery bites taken from a dashboard part of the same size (from any vehicle). If your part does not match any known part, size it up until it does fit a known part. (The extra space you create can be filled up with background copied from the main dash image, or if it's a part with a mask you can make the extra space invisible.)

I'll have to make the dasboard again.. but while i'm at it i will make a overview off the different sizes used in came with the mystery bites so they can be added to the wiki.

next update wil take a few days ..

That's not a bad idea actually. Gear boxes have some variety I think, and speedometers/revometers maybe as well.

Actualy, i've found only 2 variations in mystery data. and just 3 different height options.
in the picture the bottom left and top right have the same offsets, but different data.

EDIT:
what about this?
I converted the HEX to binary. between the two variations is not 1 common bit ..
0000000001100000 1111111110101000 = 0060 FFA8
0000000010010000 0000000000000110 = 0090 0006
I don't know.. just something i noticed because FFA8 and 0006 are so far apart...

Interesting. If we were to parse it as an integer, 0xFFA8 = -88 (signed 16-bit). Given the binary pattern you noted, though, it does begin to feel like these are bit flags of some sort.

It's great to see, that the truck is drivable finally

I haven't analised much, but just looking at the values without having been tweaking them or anything, it seems to me that the second mystery byte is indeed a signed integer and is completely independent of the first. Because these two bytes come right with every pair of width and height, apparently, this suggests the mystery bytes represent some form of offset for X and Y. It would be super weird for them to be in another order, so I suppose the first is a delta X and the second is a delta Y, not necessarily in pixels. For some reason, only the second one can be negative or positive. Whatever they're an offset for does not have space to the left.

This has sparked my curiousity. I was just concentrating on the 3D engine, but I don't know... I feel like I should analyse this thing too :P

Still working on the new showroom model, but I messed up the wheels.
I'll see if Carworks can solve that problem. Then I will post version 0.7
Only one change in the making On the model itself.

Still need to rework the performance and the dash.

(would welcome help if anyone is interested)

If you find a car with wheels the right size, you can borrow them with CarWorks and it should work exactly as for the donor car. Only problem with CarWorks will come if you wanted to make different models for the different resolutions. It just scales the same model for the three sizes. What you can do is take the model that you'll use for driving and put it in CarWorks as an OBJ in meters. Then, when you're done with the whole thing, you just edit the car0 to add more detail. But if all models are the same, it's easier.

The showroom version is very edited but I can borrow the wheels from an older version. The lower Res versions are original because it was not my intention to make a different truck,

I can fix those issues with the old version to.

Maybe some colouring later.

You can make some tests with CarWorks first. It can't load parts of two 3SH files and blend them together with the current menu options, but you can merge by loading a 3SH first and an OBJ later. If you don't have the truck in OBJ format, you can use CarWorks to export to OBJ first and then load that OBJ on top of the 3SH of the car you're taking the wheels from. If you export an OBJ from Stressed, you will lose colour information.

I have the obj separate. I'm used to work with softimage|XSI and from there to stressed was not really successful. But maybe CarWorks can handle it.

Remember that the trick to colour preservation with CarWorks is that you actually name your materials. When you are going to export a 3D shape in some 3D program as OBJ, give materials names like "Stunts0" to "Stunts128" and that means that material will be translated as that colour in the shape material palette (not the colour palette) in Stunts. If you use material names "base1" to "base4", these will be reserved for the paint job in increasing brightness.

Good one.
I didn't know what the Ikarus what's when I made this.
So that is a good fix. It can be tweaked later.

I want to make a change to the showroom model but that is a secret.

This truck looks like Optimus Prime in Transformers G1. A freightliner wft 8664 t

Is it finish or not ?

No, the dashboard is way too modern. the Res file is mostly the LM 002.
I've been working on the model. But lack the time.
Wanted to add crasper (the creature from the cart)
Behind the wheel in the showroom model (removing the windows)
I also wanted a paintjob with the back invisible and a flatbed and a car wreck on it instead.

I can't get around to it.

The dashboard (Or something like that) I wanted is for an old bus.
As modelled by my daughter below.
