First if all I want to thanks you and congratulated for yours jobs. It's amazing.
As you know, the dashboard of the Lancia Delta is not the good one. This is the one in the fabulous Thema 8.32 with Ferrari engine.
I draw a correct dashboard enclosed. But how to put out in the software ? I tried with Dash Manager but nevermind the number of colors, it does not work.
I cannot install program on my computer because I have no admin right (only portable software).
Is someone here could help me to have the right dashboard ?
Hi! What kind of issue are you having with Dash Manager? I think I can help you with that. CarWorks and Dash Manager are very experimental and some things are not very comfortable to get done and are far from perfect. My idea is to eventually unify these tools and give them a better interface and a more reliable file format support. To set up the images, you will need to combine the dashboard with the steering wheel in an image editor and also get a clipped image of the instruments taking care that the alpha channel (transparency) coincides with what you want. DM does not explain this in detail and things won't work well if you don't do it that way.
You need an image for the roof, another for the dashboard, another one for the wheel in each of the three positions. These three do not need an alpha channel. Then another for the instruments when the wheel is centred (no alpha) and two more with alpha channel for the instruments when the wheel is to the left and to the right.
Hello! I have prepared a STDALANC.VSH to get you started. To do that, I cropped your drive.bmp in appropriately sized parts, imported them through Stressed into the original STDALANC.PVS, and tweaked the positions of the bitmaps in Stressed a lttle. I'm using Stressed because I haven't gotten to sit down and learn Dash Manager yet; here is a download link for Windows (https://bitbucket.org/duplode/gameformats/downloads/stressed-0.2.1-win32bin.zip) (if you need a Linux build, let me know).
Notes:
- To load the VSH into the game, move the original STDALANC.PVS away from the game directory and place the VSH in there.
- To get familiar with the various dashboard parts, I recommend checking the original files with Stressed, as well as reading the relevant Wiki article (http://wiki.stunts.hu/index.php?title=Car_files#Graphics_files_.28.p3s.2F.pvs.29) (and of course, do ask us if anything is unclear).
- One really important thing about the bitmaps that isn't yet documented in the Wiki is that their widths must be multiples of 4. The heights can be anything you want.
- Since your wheel doesn't have spokes, I didn't have to mess with the auxiliary bitmaps inm1/inm3 (left them as they were) and ins1/ins3/whl1/whl3 (used the ins2 and whl2 bitmaps).
- Other things you'll want to look into later: changing the gearbox graphics (some of the relevant bitmaps are in the STDBLANC file), and adjusting the coordinates of the moving parts of the dashboard in CARLANC.RES. (Once you get to that, just be careful not to change the distances between the CARLANC.RES gearbox coordinates, as they affect the car performance.)
Thanks both for yours advices. I will take a look tomorrow. I expect to share with you this real dashboard soon. Maybe later, we could recycle the old dashboard on a new car : Lancia Thema 8.32. But, i work step by step. Thanks again.
With the files provided by Duplode, you can get to defining the wheel spot movement and the instruments with Dash Manager very easily. You just load the VSH files and configure each of the elements. This part is a lot easier with Dash Manager than with Stressed, as DM automatically generates the arcs.
To do this, first put stdalanc.vsh (provided by Duplode) and stdblanc.vsh (which you would need to decompress from stdblanc.pvs using stunpack that comes included with Stressed) in the same directory as DM. Also copy there the file carlanc.res as is. If you also have stlanc.3sh (decompressed from stlanc.p3s in the same manner), it's better, as you can load the whole car in one go, but this file is not related to the dash. If you don't have it, you can just load each of these three files separately.
Then, proceed to configure the steering wheel, the instruments and the knob using the keys. After that, you need to save the RES file again to carlanc.res. This will produce a working dash.
I have noticed that images actually have widths that are multiples of 8, not just 4. Still, violating this doesn't seem to affect anything. Also, the X coordinate of the position is a multiple of 8.
Many thanks Cas ans Duplode. I have now something very good now.
I have not finish yet because I have to work on the gearbox. But enclosed, the modified files and a comparaison between the real and our dashboard.
Nice work
Thanks Daniel3D.
Here the last (final?) Version.
This looks good, however I think that you should add spokes to the steering wheel that are visible when turning. Also, in your most recent version, the speedo needle appears on top of the steering wheel.

I thought the same thing as soon as I saw this! The Lancia Thema 8.32 is a great car.
I correct it for the speedo needle.
For the spokes, in fact I had steched the wheel and I thought that it would nice enough.
But I will try...

It definitely looks good. But the little visual confirmation of the turning wheel is pleasant.
So I corrected the needle.
For the spokes, it is more difficult because if the housing of the gauge box. This last one hides the spokes and cuts them.
I try something.
Some graphics change.
Nothing news about the spokes.
I modified the Delta into Delta Evo (also called Deltona). With a rear spoiler and big wheel archs. Enjoy.
Add light on the car1 and modification of the rear.
Lets compare with the original.

Starting with the first Delta, I think it can be done.
For the specification (in particular handling and weight), for the moment, I have not study how to do.
We can imagine the Thema be heavier and less easy to drive than the delta for the sames HP.

It looks good! Now what about the Martini Racing livery? :P
I don't know how to do that...
New version with a big facelift : logo, air intake and new light.
Could somebody explain how to deal with the spokes? I tried but it always cut by ins2.
Uhm.... I'm opening it with Dash Manager and for some reason, the meters and the steering wheel look all mixed up, but in the game, they appear to work. I can just redo the whole thing with DM, but I would like to know why there's this inconsistency.
EDIT: Nevermind, I've figured it out! This is something to be really carefult about! Daniel3D has been having problems with this same thing and I guessed what the problem was. Now, looking at the binary from the inside, I've just confirmed it. You have been producing a CARLEVO.RES file with Stressed, right? These car RES files are composed of four chunks. For Stunts original cars, the chunks are always in the same order and it is in this order that they are described in the Wiki, so car RES files are usually handled as fixed in their internal format. Yet, Stressed can and does change the order in which these chunks are saved, which DM does not like and other tools also misinterpret (such as Car Swapper).
The right thing to do is for us to start making our tools taking into account that these chunks can be reordered, but at the same time, trying to create cars with RES files that do have these chunks in order. Stunts doesn't seem to mind, though, so the first item is crucial. Anyway, all problems will disappear if the car RES file is converted to the right chunk order. I could do that.
In fact, if I make the spokes more longer these ones are cut at the vertical of the gauges. I will show tomorrow an example. The cut corresponds at the box ins2.

Could somebody explain how to deal with the spokes? I tried but it always cut by ins2.
After looking at other STDA files and doing some testing to refresh my memory, I think the only way to do it is adding directly to ins2 the part of the spokes which is being cut, as ins2 it will be rendered over whl2 no matter what. Similarly, the overlapping part of the whl1 and whl3 spokes should be added to ins1 and ins3. A good file to use as a reference is STDAFGTO.VSH, as the spokes in the GTO dashboard overlap with almost the full width of its ins2.
I tried something but it's bug again.
Look the artefacts and the cut of spokes.
Enclosed my bmp in the zip.
This is my final version without spokes anyway. I stay on my first impression : for this car, it is not beautiful because of the size of the dashboard.
I tried many bugs...sorry... solutions but I prefer without.

Thanks to Marco, here an update of the RES file
I 'll check as soon as possible. Great work Ryoma, check my live videos on Marco plays Dos Games.
Hi Ryoma, always super thanks, i have download your last Lancia Evo files but accelleration remained slower than Fiat 500 Abarth . Anyway I love it but you must let me feel the power of the Delta Evo :)
Remove the older files Marco

Hi Ryoma, always super thanks, i have download your last Lancia Evo files but accelleration remained slower than Fiat 500 Abarth . Anyway I love it but you must let me feel the power of the Delta Evo :)
Hi Marco, I think it's normal : the Delta has 215hp for 1340kg and the Abarth 500 190hp for only 1030kg.
That's mean 6.7hp/kg vs 6.1hp/kg, it's a Big différence.
On Stunts we cannot emulated AWD and FWD so the accélération grip is perfect.
I made a duel on a french website (yes I am french lol) :
https://zeperfs.com/duel881-5762.htm
And the 2 cars are really close.
I will take a look but I am sure there was an issue in the game : the opponent change Gear very very fast !
After seeing your vidéo, I ask myself why the Testarossa is faster in accélération than the 512TR?.
I put by transparency the two accélération curves present in the game and I see that effectively the 512TR is faster than the Testarossa...so the problème is the opponent.
I actually work on a big project but I will made a break to made the same comparaison for the Abarth curve and Delta curve.
And if the Abarth is faster, remember always Marco : "the Delta will still always a legend car!"
Quote from: Ryoma on March 06, 2021, 06:14:03 PM
the opponent change Gear very very fast !
IDK Why, but the opponents can ignore GAME.PRE (You know, why) because they can steer their cars on icy corners without losing grip, but we can't do this, we have to slow down
So I made the comparaison of the two cars.
First of all, I want to remind that all the value came from the website and are close to the real value (engine curve, weight, CX, Gear ratio, RPM,etc...).
My purpose is to have the same référence for every car I made between themself. I assume that it's ambitious.
So the Abarth curve in blue and the Delta colorize in red. We see that at the beginning the values are closed but after the bad CX deserve the Delta.
But maybe we can try some measurment in game without the opponent.
Have you edited the SDCSEL.PVS with Stressed?
What is it SDCSEL.PVS?
So I made some measurment :
Delta (in () réal value unit km/h)
0-60 3 (2.8)
0-80 4 (4.5)
0-100 7 (6.4)
0-120 10 (9.3)
0-140 12 (12.1)
Stunts and real are very closed
0-60 2 (3.4)
0-80 3 (5.0)
0-100 5 (6.6)
0-120 7 (9.3)
0-140 12 (12.1)
Gloups the problem is not the Delta but the Abarth !!!
I notice maybe also a speedometer issue with Delta but maybe I input a bad value for the Abarth.
And I think the default Delta is very fast....but if you want I can transfer its value to the Evo...
I will investigate it.
SDCSEL.PVS is the file containing the car showroom, and the torque meter, plus the colors assigned to that room, the SDMSEL.PVS is the main menu, the SDOSEL.PVS is the opponent selection screen
Ok but the curve is automaticly create...once I made a mistake with RPM downshift and the curve was flat..
By torque meter, I meant the grap segment. The curve will be displayed there
Ok no I did not.
I made another duel between evo2 and 16V :
https://zeperfs.com/duel881-658.htm
The issue was 16V=1250kg and evo2=1340kg.
In the game the first value is 25 and second 27.
Attached the two car parameters.
For the gear ratio my 1st gear is 66km/h and the game 74km/h.
I think the weight of 1250kg is not good so I made a Evo 2 Superleggera Marco Edition. Replace the carlevo.res in your game and say me.
Hi ALL,
I did a test track and tested the EVO against the other classic in this live video attached, (watch the last part). The New Evo has a bit slower accelleration than the default Delta HF but it's better on turns so that in a 1:30 minutes track, you can recover and clearly beat the HF . I was anyway surprised by the FIAT 500 that is still able to win both HF and EVO on the same track. I tested the 2 Audi Quattro as well . It would be great if you could change the name of the second Audi 4 as "Audi Quattro Sport v2" for example. It would be also great for you to write "By Ryoma" on each cars as the other guys do and to celebrate the maker . On your repository, unfortunately, the folders doesn't change the data also when you update some files inside, so I must always check all the folders for upgrade. I was the fastest pipsqueak in the world with Delta cars , it would be great for me if you could do a little tribute to me :) with a Lancia Delta EVO "Special Marco Edition" :) White and Red colors as the Martini Racing. Thank you so much;)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cy4_FHvoz9I
Marco, as explained on YT, you dis not use the la last version of the Evo. Replace all files by the files enclosed this post.
Later, I will try to make the Martini version, but it will be a hard job with all the differents colors.

That "special Marco edition" would be a hollow tribute because you asked for it like this.
But if you value it so much I can edit the Res file for you. Or you can do it yourself. That part is easy.

He's very happy with it, except the old dashboard. Marco didn't like the old tachometer, so he sent me a file through Messenger, which I downloaded, and made a fixed version based on that picture
Here's the non-Marco edition
Good job you both.
Don't forget to modify consequently ins2, whl1, whl2 and whl3.
I post this dashboard on my MEGA.

That's basic
But why do you upload Marco's special car, while removing the Delta Evo 2?
The special Marco edition is special, because its meant to be dedicated to him
I changed and uploaded only the evo3 "Viola" which replace the Evo2.
The Evo2 is for me a draft and to my opinion the "Viola" is the ultimate Delta.
The Evo2 is in southern cross.
The Marco Edition is only in the hard disk of Marco.
But has the tagline "Special Marco edition" in the RES
It's remove now on the MEGA.
The "Viola" being my ultimate official Delta.
Yesterday after downloading the ZIP, the Evo 3 had a very bad automatic shifting, because it changed gear after 4000 RPM instead of 6000, but this problem didn't occur with the Evo 2
EDIT: You've fixed this
Yes I made a confusion between downshift RPM and upshift RPM...so you drove the Turbo diesel Edition lol.
Why does the shifting from first, to second gear flicker?
Because 4000rpm is too high for downshift. I will reduce it at 3500. Try it.
Perfect
You can modify this value with carworks.
Menu "7" to load the res file (only type the 4 characters of the car).
Menu "9" to modify the value.
Menu "8" to save with always the 4 characters.
Important : the res file must be in the same directory than carworks.exe, casworks and casworks.bas
Very good explanation
Marco said me that he was satisfied with the grip of the car when it turns to the left but it s not the same when i turn to the right. How to solve the difference without changing the left turn grip.
How is possible ? I checked the wheels positions, it seems good.
There is nothing wrong with your car; the difference is a bug in the 1991 versions of the game. If you try it in the 1990 versions, you'll find it behaves the same in both directions (with the lower, right turn grip).
Ryoma, try using 4-D Sports Driving (Not 4D Sports Driving, and not Stunts 1.0)
At the wiki article of the game versions, look at them. Left corner bias is present in Stunts 1.1 and 4D Sports Driving but not in Stunts 1.0 and 4-D Sports Driving

Yes, and I also told this to Marco, but he didn't take seriously, and didn't download 4-D Sports Driving
Ok good news. Do you have a direct link ?

Thanks I will try. Actually, I have a lot of job, so I cannot be present.
I made some little modification of the dashboard :
- restoring the odometer that some salvages people destroyed (lol),
- put the start engine button on its aluminium plate present in the last version of the Evo 2...and I think present on Evo 3.
Marco didn't like the odometer that's why I removed it for him, and I thought it would be a good implemention to the non-Marco edition too
Some improvement of the dashboard
The Evo 2 is back on my MEGA with the dashboard improvement.
See somes mistakes on the Marco Live and made somes corrections. I did not try it because Viper
Some work.
Maybe I will not finish.
It was very hard. But the Delta got spokes.
Well done! :) That looks much better!
Some modifications to reduce the 2 grey triangle on the top.
Some modifications
Need to work on the rear light and top front grid.
Work in progress. Dashboard, front car and rear light improvment.
New Evo 3 available.
During my test, while playing with inm1 and ins1, I succeed to change needle color : ins1=whl1 (same bitmap) and inm1 is white on the jauge. Doesn't work when the wheel is in wheel2 position :(

How did you change the needle color?
It's an hack and not a willing. It's when the white mask of inm1 is in front of the jauge. Useless because it's work only while turning hard.
