Title: Track of the Year 2021
Post by: dreadnaut on December 31, 2021, 11:16:50 AM
In 2021, at the end of each race, we asked participants to rate the track from 1 to 5 stars. Single votes and averages have been hidden during the season, but here we are for the grand reveal!

The Track of the Year 2021, with 12 votes and 4.3 stars on average is...
— ZCT244: Crazy Eight (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT244), designed by Daniel3D!

Well done Daniel3D, it was a fun track with many options, carefully designed!

Runner ups:
4.2 (13 votes) - ZCT236: Lightning (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT236) by Alan Rotoi
4.2 (12 votes) - ZCT243: Atlas Air (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT243) by Duplode
4.0 (9 votes) - ZCT242: Full Fontal (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT242) by Overdrijf

Pretty good ones:
3.9 (8 votes)- ZCT241: Emptyness (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT241) by CTG
3.7 (13 votes) - ZCT234: Lockdown, Worry and Fear (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT234) by Akoss Poo
3.6 (12 votes) - ZCT237: Marshland (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT237) by dreadnaut
3.5 (15 votes) - ZCT235: Mirror Lake (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT235) by KyLiE
3.5 (13 votes) - ZCT238: Symbolic Link (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT238) by Cas

We enjoyed these less:
3.4 (14 votes) - ZCT245: Amateur Hour (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT245) by Zak McKracken
3.3 (12 votes) - ZCT240: Lignano Pineta (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT240) by afullo
3.1 (10 votes) - ZCT239: Urtutako Glaziarra (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/ZCT239) by Shoegazing Leo

Final ratings will appear on the track list in the next days.

Any feedback on the voting system itself is welcome!

Congratulations, Daniel3D! Crazy Eight was a great track, well worthy of the title. (In my personal ranking, it was #2, right behind Akoss' ZCT234. That one, however, was always going to be a polarising track, so I expected your ZCT244 to win it all.)

I don't know what else to say.. didn't expect it...

I was in the lowest tier again  ;D anyway, 3.3/5 as evaluation is above the average 3/5, so it is not a bad perception. I know my tracks could be a bit confusing, but it's because I try to recreate real places with road patterns...

244 was a great ride. One of those tracks where design and just that little bit of extra things falling into place come together perfectly. I'm even pretty sure it would have been a great race regardless of the car coefficients.

That city map was fun! It is accurate with the real city 😉

I raced only 4 tracks, including mine. Thus, I gave only 3 ratings. Two fives and one two. Rotoi's and Daniel's track were really good ones. Though, my track wasn't designed to be an enjoyable one, it was rather a racing track with some painful sections.

I thought your track will win. It has a good feedback when it ended.

Track ratings (http://zak.stunts.hu/tracks/) should now be visible. Reading your comments, I decided to add a little chart showing the distribution of votes too.

They are a bit small, yes. The whole page needs refreshing one day, how would you lay out the information? :)

For sure an interesting result will be between this list compared to sent replay analysis.

Indeed, but then we may also have to take into consideration the average monthly attendance.

I have a problem when rating the tracks: by the moment I have to rate a track, I no longer remember my experience  ;D   So I often have to go back to the track and give it another ride to give it some score. I think I'll have to write down what I think while I'm preparing my replays and then go back to my notes at the moment of rating :)

Good point. Besides the track of the year voting and race attendance we also have the track rating.
So 3 values to compare against each other.

I believe that there is also a track difficulty rating? We could throw that in the mix as well  8)

Hey I like that! For the next year it would be cool 3 or 4 items to vote such rating, difficulty, time spent and a couple more.

Track difficulty is sort of embedded in the race strength calculations..

This idea is really good. We should begin measuring everything we can starting next season
