Title: World Stunts Meeting 2004
Post by: zaqrack on August 30, 2003, 11:05:39 PM
The 1st offical World Stunts Meeting will be held in Budapest,

either 2004 August 13-14-15 (fri-sun) or
        2004 August 20-21-22 (fri-sun)

20. of aug is national holiday, so I dunno its better to have the meeting then or not (roads closed and stuff, but there are more things to see probably) Of course those who want to stay longer, can stay, I can provide the food+shelter for a longer time.

Zak

At the moment I'd prefer 1st choice :) Because of the work (I hope I'll work next year too ).

the first choice is the plain date of holiday travels, so expect traffic and rubber asphalt under your car tires. the worse of the two dates is the end of august, because then we dont know if we can get back to home for work. i prefer the corks and loops in the middle of august.

I don't care, both dates seem good from now. Just thinking of combining this with a short Hungary holiday with my wife... just what will she do on the racing weekend?  :)

first answer: we are yet united on the web, thats a true presence.

second answer: do you really think things like that? how much chances one millionaire AND philanthropic AND stunts maniac is among us?

perhaps one day, but not today

Nevertheless the idea is good. While meeting in Budapest all other pipsqueaks who cannot get there could meet. All South Americans in Brazil, all Asians in Malaysia, all others in Canada or Australia  :)
It would be cool to have all pipsqueaks gathered at four or five places all around the world. Then we could do live racing as well.

Now Zak, how did the press in Hungary react to this happening? Leading articles about Stunts and the metropole of Stunts maniac 2004: Budapest? Interviews on radio and TV with you? (...)

theres a local TV station in Budapest, fix.tv, they mainly have topics about computers, lots of my friends had an interview there about amigas, and demopartys and such things, I have some contacts there too, if we want we can maybe have 5-10 mins as a TV presentation for Stunts and the meeting.

I just found out that the Hungarian F1 race is on the same weekend than the Stunts Meeting.
This is a problem if any of you plan to stay in a hotel, because all of them are very expensive and full then.
In this case we should postpone the meeting 1 week later.
Please inform us if you plan to live in a hotel. Here and at some friends anyone can sleep, but space is limited, and some of you might not like crowded places :)

When F1 was here (1994 or 1995) I lived in those times (until august 2003) at 3-4 km from the aut?dromo and the sunday morning I could hear the engines of the cars!! Maybe it was the warm up butcause it happened before the race started. 1st of all I guessed it was some bikes in the highway, but the sound still was there and sometimes I could hear some shiftings. It was great.

its the community's choice...

planned date is now 13-15 of aug, and it'll stay so unless the majority wants to change it. I have nothing against organizing it one week before or later, but pls decide it in time. But because for some of you 1 week later is good, for some of you 1 week before I think we should stuck wit hthis one, so its good for no one

some events here which might have an influence in your choice:

aug 4-11 Sziget festival, 15min from our flat, one week long rock-metal+some dnb-goa concerts on an island 10+ stages, hundreds of bands, about 100-200thousand visitors each year. Ticket price is around 15EUR for a day, 70EUR for the whole week if bought one month before.
aug 13-15: Formula 1 event on the Hungaroring. ticket prices:
http://www.hungaroring.hu/images/2004_f1_arak_eleje.jpg
aug 20: national holiday with fireworks and stuff, not so intresting but still can be fun

abou the meeting programs: I'm not sure yet, of course the most imporant is what you'd like to do. :)
I think there'll be one sightseeing day for sure, hunting for Hungarian beauties  8), many live stunts competitions for sure, team fight with realweapons :), Hungarian culinary experiences provided by 2nd year guestkeeping sudent Zak McKracken+family, and lots of fun :)

It's bad to fly with Germanwings, because for example the flight back on monday will cost at least ? 140,00! And then there is the flight from Kiel to K?ln/Bonn and back.... :(

It's better (for me and maybe for you, Bonzai Joe, too) to fly from Hamburg, I found this (Thursday - Sunday):

-----------------------------------------------------------------
MALEV Hungarian Airlines f?r 140,- EUR Tax + 45,-

Hinflug:  MA541 Hamburg Budapest 12.08.2004 10:05,
Ankunft BUD 12.08.2004 11:45

R?ckflug:  MA540 Budapest Hamburg 15.08.2004 07:40,
Ankunft HAM 15.08.2004 09:25
-----------------------------------------------------------------

You can go to Hamburg from Kiel by bus, to and back from the Hamburg airpost will cost 24,00 ? (else my wife may take us there). What I do not like here, is that we have to leave that early on sunday.

Maybe this in alternative (Thursday - Sunday):

-----------------------------------------------------------------
CSA Czech Airlines f?r 183,- EUR Tax + 79,-

Hinflug: OK577 Hannover Prag 12.08.2004 08:00
OK4786 Prag Budapest 12.08.2004 10:05
Ankunft BUD: 12.08.2004 11:10

R?ckflug: OK789 Budapest Prag 15.08.2004 18:45
OK576 Prag Hannover 15.08.2004 20:55
Ankunft HAJ: 15.08.2004 22:20 AT4
----------------------------------------------------------------

Is there maybe any chance to get a flight to Budapest from South Denmark?

You two really need to get yourselves together... are you surprised that racism on the chat isn't very popular?
You play this free Stunts competition, write on this free forum, chat in the free Stunts chat room for years, all made just for you by Mr. Zak McKracken, and when he once decides to rid the chatroom of your negative and racist attitudes, you turn against him?
As you will know, I am not exactly an Orion fanatic, and Mingva is not my best friend, so don't tell me I just blame you because I hate you and love Mingva - I blame you because you're being unfair.
See you in Budapest in August...

I'm sorry this post is so angry, because I honestly consider you both very nice people, I just think you got this case totally wrong and are being unfair.

[23:24] <zaqrack> whole Hungarian internet is dying
[23:24] <Mingva> great :)

[23:25] <[A]lain> yes its too peaceful...  not only "some" but all must die

Zak did nothing.

stunts chat 2/3

I said Hitler should ran over Lithuania, CTG wanted Mingva to be taken to Auschwitz, and things like this.

Zak frightened us with permban. When I started to say anything to him, he said 'I don't care'. I was very angry at him because it's not the first time when I feel we're (CTG and me) negatively discriminated from others (especially cheater ex-Orionians). So we decided not to go because of this.

You still don't seem to understand. You can insult Mingva as much as you want, and Mingva can insult you as much as he wants, we think it's childish and silly, but you can do it. The point is you can't be racistic at the chat room and say things like what you said about Lithuania and Hitler.

Akoss:

I think Zak frightened you with permban because of a lot hungarian sentences. I guess, it were too insultive, and Zak warned both of you.

And all the rubbish begun after CTG called me gipsy, and Lithuania - Gipsyland :x And then you joined with Hitler (although I'm tolerant to him) and Jewish things

It doesn't add respect to you and to your country  :!:

Of course, like I told both Akoss and CTG on the chat they should stay away from racism nomatter what.

But I also do know from my 'brawl' with Alain that the rest of the community is kinda 'noncaring' even if one person has the majority of the responibility and is constantly pestering other persons.

Now I know that mingva can often be annoying 'argumment' etc..... And If he was constantly annoying to akoss (for example) And Akoss would not get any support he might feel unfairly treatened because
-like in most flamewars-
[ we can see the JTK attitude 'Both of you...' nomatter whose fault it was]
it seems noone cares if he gets 'annoyed' and might thus be more likely to react hotheaded and to say racistic remarks he should not say.

Note that I am not speaking about the actual incident, but what has happened before, the feelings which might lead to such an outburst of emotions.
And please also note, that I am not trying to defend Akoss actions but am wondering if my theory mentioned above could have a little bit to do with the situation?

All of this could be avoided after meeting in Budapest... To my opinion and in my experience the internet is a place easy to 1. tals in a way to others you would never do, if standing right in front of him, 2. misunderstanding, becuse using emoticons does not replace real verbal speech, 3. talking to each other in a not-native language (like English) leads to a lowering of content, because connotations to words are reduced by sender and addressee.

I do not want to excuse any insults and/or racist statements (which are paradox to use in an international community at all!).

No, I plea for you to come to the Stunts meeting, because there we all can really see and hear each other and for sure some characteral estimations of persons will reveal their prejudictive faces. After having met you have the person in mind, who is hiding here behind his avatar, maybe provocing arguments and racing times. Maybe in the end you'll learn that for example Alain is one of the nicest, wisest and most friendly person in the world* and JTK is a bragging, distasteful, double moral standardish redneck**.

The international Stunts meeting - take it as a matter of aquaintance and understanding and hot races!!!

...sais JTK, one of the last superheroes fighting against rancour, sorrow and racism!

*   which I really do believe!
** which I hope is not like this!

I discovered sky, a low-cost company, and it will cost 186,31 Euros from Paris...
It's the cheapest, but still expensive. :(

With it, I can arrive 12th of August, 22H00 at Ferihegy1 airport (correct :) ), but I can leave only on wednesday 18th of August at 17H00 (too late, I can't stay that long at zak's home, best would be to leave the 16th).

Or maybe I can leave from Bratislava the 16th of August if someone can bring me there and if I can go to Slovakia with only my French identity card (I have no passport, and I don't want to buy one (because it's not cheap) as it's no more needed to go to Hungary from France :D )...

How will you travel From Denmark BJ ? Car ? Plane ?
I don't want to travel by car : around 1500 km with my poor Citro?n Saxo...

6.25 Budapest Nyugati - 8.43 Bratislava hl.st. Cs?rd?s EuroCity
10.25 Budapest Nyugati - 12.43 Bratislava hl.st. Hungaria EuroCity
11.50 Budapest Keleti - 14.41Bratislava hl.st. Polonia EuroCity
12.05 Budapest Keleti - 15.37 Bratislava hl.st. Slovan international train, no EC ticket needed

Other trains are worse, because you must change train - and I don't think you want to look for the other train in an unknown country, when you have only few minutes for the change...

Or you can watch bus lines too, if it's cheaper (but as far as I know they are a lot more expensive).

Post by: Krys TOFF on June 18, 2004, 05:32:09 PM
I'm still not sure to come but, in case I can find enough money for it (overall it would cost around 200 euros, without counting ticket train and maybe a taxi to reach Bratislava airport... :( ) , here are some questions :

Quote from: "CTG"6.25 Budapest Nyugati - 8.43 Bratislava hl.st. Cs?rd?s EuroCity
10.25 Budapest Nyugati - 12.43 Bratislava hl.st. Hungaria EuroCity
11.50 Budapest Keleti - 14.41Bratislava hl.st. Polonia EuroCity
12.05 Budapest Keleti - 15.37 Bratislava hl.st. Slovan international train, no EC ticket needed
Which one of the train stations in Bratislava is the closest to the airport ?
If none of them are close to the airport, is it easy to get a taxi to bring me to the airport ?
How much is the ticket train ?
What is "EC ticket" ? Does "EC" means EuroCity ? What is EuroCity ?

Arrival in Budapest the 12th of August has been modified from 22H00 to midnight. :? Would there be someone to catch me at this late hour in Budapest airport ? (I'm sure the answer is "Yes" but I like to see Zak say "Yes, of course" )

Last question : Can anyone give me 200 euros ?

Well, Krys, Bratislava is the part of Slovakia, I've never been to Bratislava, I don't think any of us has, so it's a question impossible to answer I think. But I think if you ask constantly from Slovakians "where is the railway station?" you will get there. It's impossible to get lost in this overcivilizated world.
EC=EuroCity, on that trains you must book a seat for you, and that costs around 2-3 Euros I think.
I think ppl from abroad must pay the full train ticket, and I think between Bratislava and Budapest it is around 8-10 Euros.
I'm sure we would come for you to the airport. :D

Only 52 days to go. I can't wait to be, play Stunts, get drunk with Jacky, CTG and the Kalpens (and the others who would join), eat, fart etc. there. :D

"cshziksschzakkksch!" - something like this sounded to my ear -
"Hello?"
"cshziksschzakkksch!"
"Hello? This is JTK from Germany calling..."
" Ah, ah yes, hello."
" Are you - are you Zak?" - shame on me, but do I know real names? -
"Oh, no, no he's my brother, I'll wake him up for you."
"No need to do this, I can call back later..."
"Nono, no problem, he is awake now!"

And then: First contact  8) Nice!) Now my car (Porsche March Indy, of course  ) is ready and Wednesday, the day after tomorrow after work I'll race to KHR, and as soon as our parents can watch the children we're off and hit the road straight to Budapest!

I'm just back from the station, Jacob and Thomas stayed one night longer because we missed the train last evening :)

The flat feels empty now, and quiet... it's strange.
See you next year ;)

Back at work  :(

Thanks, thanks and thanks again, I enjoyed each minute of the minute :D  :D  :D ! It was so great to meet all of you in real! I really liked Budapest and the surroundings (I guess one day I have to come back with my wife for a longer vacation), Zak organized great tours and made delicious meals (homemade noodles for 8 persons !) and it was great to see maniacs like Bonzai Joe racing 8) ! Yesterday I watched all the pics again - it was really awesome, thanks again.

When shall we meet again  :?:

Still a great meeting. Maybe this community is not so strong anymore but I don't see why great things like that, or greater things still, shouldn't continue to happen.

But you came only in February 2005.

Kidding: yeah, I know, your first race was ZCT14. Or 13, Mr. Rotserrat?

Yes, I know. But I still wouldn't be able to go if an aniversary meeting takes place.
