Chat - Misc / Re: Wrong message

Hahahha, I'm going to look for some CSS that turns all exclamation marks 178° around to almost-fix this!

Or we can fix it on your actual birthday, if you tell us! 🎂

Quote from: MiDiaN on Yesterday at 03:21:18 PMVery nice! Are you planning to have option to add/remove cars from the chart?

I considered initially, but it's not worth the complexity of the UI. You can already add cars by submitting a lap with the car you want ;D

Good idea about some kind of 'crosshair' to help compare results!

Finally built! See https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?msg=98651

TODO:
- smarter label positions (see ZCT210)
- better display for overlapping lines, e.g., offset slightly (see ZCT223)
- show laps with penalty in the right place (see ZCT190, ZCT226)
- outlier detection (see ZCT192)
- hide with a single car?
- should trend lines "fade" far from actual results? (see Carrera on ZCT227)

I have finally built the coefficient chart I first dreamt of in 2023. Head to the track pages to have a look.

Still a work in progress (in particular colours and getting car names in a good place), but let me know what you think!

I should be able to join, I've missed live races!

I've added Unicode support to the forum chat, bring all the emojis 🎉

At the same time, I've removed or turned off a bunch of things that made it behave more like IRC than a simple chat. Let me know what you think:

- Made the ChatBot less chatty, so it doesn't announce login / logout
- Disabled all channels except the main one: since 2008, there's been only ~100 messages in other channels, and the largest chunk were spam

Also:
- Removed the zebra background
- Removed the sound code, which required Flash and stopped working a decade ago
- Removed some extra bits we'll never use (e.g., Ruby server support, shoutbox support)

Stunts Forum & Portal / Re: stunts.hu landing page

Quote from: HerrNove on September 04, 2025, 04:08:27 PMIs "I like it the way it is" an acceptable answer?

Of course it is, and I'm glad to hear that we are not failing someone who recently joined us!

I'm interested in hearing if there's anything missing though: stunts.hu has been in front of many new eyes in the past two-three years, but I'm not sure it's doing a good job at explaining what the website is about, and where the fun stuff is.

Quote from: Erik Barros on September 04, 2025, 11:59:37 PMintegrate the stunts.hu chatroom with element?

Proper embedding is definitely a big task. Does a link to the Stunts space count as an integration? 😅

Time to revive this thread with the questions:

What's next for stunts.hu"? How does it go from a fairly empty page to... the Stunts Hub?

Quote from: dreadnaut on August 26, 2025, 03:15:53 PMWiki updated to MediaWiki 1.43.3. All seems fine, except... the logo does not appear 🤔 Should all be in place, but there's not even an <img> tag. I'll investigate later!

Fixed! Had to change the configuration from
$wgLogos = [ '1x' => "https://wiki.stunts.hu/images/4/4b/Wikilogo.png" ];
to
$wgLogos = [ 'icon' => "https://wiki.stunts.hu/images/4/4b/Wikilogo.png" ];
to support all skins.

My feeling (not an official statement) is that in most competition learning the track is more important than seeing in the distance. However, this flips around for live racing or competitions where the track is new for everyone, and the additional visibility can make a difference.

Each competition will have to take Supersight into account when considering rules and participant situations.

Quote from: HerrNove on September 01, 2025, 02:59:46 PMNew volunteers are welcome!

Looking good, very good! Feels alright around 20k cycles on Default. I'd probably use it on level 2 or 3. Definitely not 5 ;D  I'm currently still in the vanilla camp, but I can see this giving a real advantage on LeStunts live races for example.

I suppose it's an unwritten rule (which mean maybe we should write it down) that ZakStunts allows (almost) anything that can be done within the game.

There's a number of external techniques that are considered cheating, e.g., modifying car dashboard to see details the car doesn't normally show, messing with the executable to highlight tile boundaries, etc. On the other hand, they would only help in niche cases: folks driving at that level already enjoy the challenge more than winning.

Competition 2025 / Cars and rules for 2026
August 27, 2025, 08:52:30 PM
Second quarter of the ZakStunts century 🐲
25 years means a lot of stories and traditions, trophies old and new, and a few dusty corners. It also means the 26th year is coming up fast! Are you ready? 😱

While the game stays the same, the Competition is open to rule changes. This thread is here to collect and discuss suggestions, and also to decide which custom cars will be allowed for the coming season.

See also: Cars and rules for 2025

For those who have not been part of one of these threads before, let me summarise the process:
  • Pipsqueaks bring up ideas, questions, problems. A brief explanation is enough, a bit of data is welcome.
  • There are no single solutions to a problem, there always many options that we discuss with curiosity about other people's experiences and opinions.
  • We keep in mind the principles of the Competition; I suggest reading along the chain of previous threads to get an idea of what's an acceptable proposal, and what is not.
  • We try to find consensus on a very small set of changes: we can't make a lot of changes at the same time, or we'll have no idea what worked and why.
  • Some ideas will not gain traction, and that's alright.

Now a few rules to have a productive thread:
  • No AI generated content in this thread; machine translation is fine, slop is not.
  • No off-topic, spamming, etc. Those messages will be deleted without warning.
  • No attacks, no recriminations

Quote from: HerrNove on August 27, 2025, 12:15:04 AMIt seems that the "Corrected time" row does not display the centiseconds of the raw time correctly (it shows 1:13:00 instead of 1:13:95).

Thanks for spotting that. That's me I think, mis-placed brackets around an integer cast. I'll fix it

Quote from: HerrNove on August 27, 2025, 12:15:04 AMCuriously, the confirmation screen after submitting the time shows the centiseconds correctly.

Unfortunately there are still two codepaths here, for basically the same view

Quote from: Alain il professore on August 27, 2025, 09:43:29 AMI'm just spotting patterns and drinking detox bio tea.

What is this, @Alain? You change topic, make another aggressive joke on a different channel, post two messages on topic, and assume it all goes away?

It's 2025, and I expect an adult to be responsible for their behaviour, not squirrel away for a moment. So I need you to use your adult powers and think about why your behaviour is a problem, and ask questions if you don't understand. If you can't do that (pride, shame, I'm-in-the-right-here), you are out.

If there are other difficulties that we don't know about, bring them out. There's been others who said "sorry, I've got baggage and I've been shit", to then deal with their issues without unleashing them on the community.

Hint: while you keep saying you are doing things for weaker pipsqueaks, this is plainly for yourself. If you cared about others, you'd be elevating their voices, opening up the stage, instead of drowning it with noise by being the loudest voice and shutting off everyone else, to the point that I have folks telling me "I just try to be nice and not say a lot when he's in the middle".

So you either solve this in the next hours, or the ban is coming.
