If you find a car with wheels the right size, you can borrow them with CarWorks and it should work exactly as for the donor car. Only problem with CarWorks will come if you wanted to make different models for the different resolutions. It just scales the same model for the three sizes. What you can do is take the model that you'll use for driving and put it in CarWorks as an OBJ in meters. Then, when you're done with the whole thing, you just edit the car0 to add more detail. But if all models are the same, it's easier.

Hey, guys, I'm here!  I forgot I should post the track earlier. So here it is!

Yes!  That bug was there for very long and nobody noticed, not even myself. KyLiE pointed it out to me only recently and I've fixed it. The version of Bliss currently in its site has this fixed, but I've already fixed more bugs and have another version ready for upload that includes a clearer use of the backslash option and the possibility to read the manual from within Bliss. I'll try to upload it tonight!

EDIT: Version updated to 2.5.8!   I was trying not to add another version, but I kept finding bugs, so now I put all the bug fixes together and there it is. I think it's mostly bug fixes. The only two new features are that you can now read the manual from inside Bliss and the backslash option works more clearly.

Nice article!  The image looks good to me...  A problem I had when I went to filling the DTM individual cars' articles is that I had already said all I knew in the main DTM-pack article. Not sure if I should just rewrite that same thing more or less for each of the cars. The thing is that the DTM cars have always been together in Race For Kicks whenever they were used and in ZakStunts, while separated, they've played similar roles, so it's little what can be said about them separately except comparing the individual features, which is what I think I'm going to do, although the information table says it all in that regard.

Yes. That is exactly what I feel. I want to make it look good with the details easy to appreciate, but I don't want to remove it too much from Stunts

Wow!  I had forgotten that I had started this thread!  I'll be putting special attention to this one as I work on the Wiki articles

Yes, I felt like using Blender renders. I've been thinking they do look good, but it'd make sense to also have a picture of what the car looks like in Stunts, so maybe I'll put that in the information tables and then put the renders below, maybe with some context, like a track in the background, I don't know. But so far, I like it this way.

About the downshifting bug, I'd like to document it in the Speedgate Wiki article... although maybe the less people know about it, the more they'll enjoy the car XD. I don't know. I don't even remember very well how to do the trick. And to be honest, I still like the Speedgate. If one doesn't like the bug, it can be forbidden for a race. It's very easy to see when the bug was used and when not. And otherwise, it makes the car interesting because, as far as I know, it's the only Stunts car that has that bug. If we've become used to seeing PG as a feature, then maybe this one is too.... Anyway, Stunts philosophy :P

Sure, you can count on me too. And I already have a track!  Maybe I'll make another one, just in case :)

I made a few changes. From now on, the snapshots will be uploaded at the top of this thread (in the first post).

Not all of the following features are already compiled so they may not be present in the snapshot but:
  • Loading and saving car shapes (3SH files)
  • Loading and saving object files while keeping colours (OBJ files)
  • Automatically configuring paint jobs, including colours that are not present in original cars
  • Automatic scaling, so that OBJ files can be in meters (approximately) and only one shape has to be uploaded
  • Adjusting wheel positions with the possibility of centering the car with the wheels
  • Loading, editing and saving car parameters (RES files), including the torque curve with the mouse, but excluding parameters that have a direct relation to the car 3D shape and dash graphics
  • Loading dash graphics and viewing them in their corresponding positions (VSH files, unfinished)

    Issues:
  • Because the car shape is automatically scaled, the resulting car1 and car2 shapes have the same number of primitives, a little high-poly for racing, but that should be OK with current computers
  • Wheels have to be borrowed from a pre-existing car, as CarWorks still can't generate them itself from scratch
  • Lines, dots and spheres are not supported. Grills are, even though not adequately represented in the OBJ file
  • Due to the automatic nature of the paint job system, it is not possible to use CarWorks to make paint jobs that differ in any other way than the base hue
  • Wheel position and bounding box are calculated for the 3SH file, but the corresponding RES parameter is not changed
  • While dash graphics can be loaded and viewed, they can't be edited and clock setup cannot still be made

I'm making a few tests with another car and if it all works well, I can continue with the Volvo dash :)

Yes, I'm sure restunts is purer. It removes; does not add. I've known about it for a while, but it doesn't even have a wiki page. Where should I download it?

Well, yes. It does look good. About the gear box, that's a simpler part, maybe it can be drawn from scratch if one from top is not found. One thing I'm not sure what to do about is the fact that Stunts cars usually have the steering wheel centred in the panel, but actual panels have it to one side. Putting it to one side will work, but Stunts will still render everything centred so one would get the feeling of seating on the gear stick XD  I've been thinking that maybe the best is to clip the panels so that the steering wheel is only a bit off-centre and to the left, but not too much. What do you think?

That's a great test track!  Thanks, guys. I think I'll make a good list of cars and start "testing my testing" to get used to the procedure, but yes, any help is very welcome. Two things I have pending in the community are: learning more about cars (Stunts cars, but also some about real cars) and becoming a reasonable pipsqueak ::)

Alright... I've added articles for the three DTM cars. The text is very brief, but I've been able to fill the car information by copying from the forum post. I'm going to take pictures of the cars. What I'm not good at is reviewing the cars, so when I write the text in the articles, what I will need is a review of my review because my comments will probably be pretty childish. For example, I envy the car article for the Speedgate XSD. I would like to write something like that. By the way, that same article says "no bugs", ha, ha... Looks like the Speedgate trick had not been discovered at that time. That should be added, but I don't remember very well what that trick consisted in. It was something like lowering all gears quickly at certain moments and the car would turn into a bullet.
