The amiga version looks not as good as the pc version, i cant even see wheels in the car models, also not in the youtube videos :(
Those videos were made on low graphic settings.
Except for the colour palette the game runs fine in the emulator.

Wow, thanks.
I didn't expect it so quickly  8)

Edit:
needed some vcredist indeed.
Runs fine in the beginning.. Love how nicely it starts. But after 46 seconds racing it freezes en crashes to desktop...  :-\
(may be a W10 issue?)

but i love it. I'm dyslectic and dropt DOS like a brick when windows 1.1 came available to me when i was 10 or so.
Have grown up with windows, so i tent to shy away form command line interfaces for regular use.

(can't get a grip on linux, i keep breaking it)

EDIT 2:
in compatibility mode i could finish the race but CTD in evaluation menu...

Both times about 1:30 minutes after start of the game...

just tested 2 times. not enough data for meaningful results...
To hot up here now. wil test later.  still love it  8)

That is actually fully understandable.  8)
Except for the part directed @me  ::)

That explains it all.

About the stunts emulator you made. I read about it on the forum. But can't seem to download it.
But I am curious. Can you send me a link?

There's a lot of stuff from the emulator. Haven't checked it on my pc yet. But I extracted the game file's. (That's what it's all about any way)

This I zipped myself.  8)

Most downloads I open first in a VM. But I know this site. Never had any issues.

But I'll check it for you.  8)
I unpacked it on my android phone.
Seems ok.

True, but it works. Got a clean 8mb zip.

This is a link to the Amiga version (1.2), i was curious about it after reading in the wiki that it contains les bugs.
QuoteAmiga version
It seems that only publisher for Amiga was Mindscape; therefore, the game was published under the name 4D Sports Driving.
Only one version was available : it was version was 1.2, converted to Amiga from PC version.
This version has less bugs than PC versions.

4D Sports Driving 1.2 (1992-01-10)

I have not tested it yet. I will do that asap.

But the emulator part may be interesting..

I only know I got a not enough memory message if I managed to load with loadfix.
Even with as much as possible set as load high or in umb.
That in combination with the manual stating you need 640k to run the game gave me that impression.

With game.exe on a fresh DOS, not optimized at all it loaded first time.

That made me think there is a difference.

That was the whole observation that my question was based on.

So I don't know. Maybe it's an exepack thing. Maybe the unpacking process needs temporary extra memory. Maybe it is nothing but my poor understanding of DOS mechanics.

But thank you for taking it seriously.

Stunts is itself not very memory demanding

that may be so, and probably is. In the stunts manual not a single word is spent on system requirements or installation. (there was a separate quick reference card however)

in the 4D sports driving manual there is a lot written about it. (see attachment)
that's why in thought memory was more important.

I won't be of much help programming wise anyway.
But I am a decent (albeit very rusty) 3D modeller and have graphic design experience.

Maybe an FTP for file management. E.g. ftp.stunts.hu and only accessable for (selected) forum. members??
Or a Gmail project email, then we can use Google drive for file's.

EDIT: maybe a good starting point. We can always move the data.
And it's easy to set different read, write and modify rights.
