Stunts Drivers Races / The future of NORH races
March 21, 2007, 08:05:43 PM

Last months Stunts races would seem to show a letdown of the participation in all contests. Probably time to race is not high in this period and drivers can race only in short moments during the month.
This condition sure penalizes NORH race, and the reason is simple. To be engaging and selective, a track for RH race must contain some difficult tracts, where drivers can make the difference. But, while in RH race those tracts can be approached for little steps without big suffering, the same tracts could result almost impossible for a NORH driver. The thing could be very awful if a hard tract is placed in the middle or in the final of a track, and this can lead a driver not to continue the current NORH race. Time to spend is too much high, while fun is too much low.
But, as you know, through SDR I have a not secret mission: to revive the passion for this great specialty! I'm absolutely sure that NORH race are the true races, the races more similar to the real races, where drivers will have to race not forgetting a basic component of every true race: the risk. It leads a driver to dose his potential during the race considering his current performance. It arouses in a driver unique emotions, which he will have to domain. A race without emotions, it's not a real race, maybe it seems more a work. A pleasing, engaging and satisfying work where mind and hands have a big part, but not a real race where the heart pushed by the adrenaline is the real engine of a driver.

For all this, SDR is going towards an important change. Everytime a RH track won't be able to satisfy NORH race exigencies, we will see two different tracks in action: an engaging and selective track for RH race and a more simple but involving and absorbing track for NORH race. I hope this is a pleasing news for all like real races, and I hope this can approach many others to drive a Stunts car as they would drive a real car in a real race! Except for Stunts bugs, sure...   ;)

Stunts Drivers Races / R2/2007 - Fluency
February 26, 2007, 08:08:02 PM

A faster challenge than R1 is waiting all drivers and their Jaguar XJR9! Differently form previous track, R2 will be in fact characterized for an higher Average Speed. No hairpin, no forced slow curves, and after Start drivers can forget to have 1st and 2nd gear (maybe 3st gear too for anyone? Let's see!). Anyway in new track there are some passages (especially one, just after 2nd intermediate) where drivers will have to use all their sensibility to reduce at minimum the speed loss. The difficult will be just to drive with a great fluency so to mantain an high speed for all the tracts of the track, avoiding to push on brakes too much. Bank-road for shortcuts? Sure! And I think that one of them has been put in a very unusual, but useful point... Ice? Just a micro-tract, but if drivers could have snow-tyres I think they would use them! OK, do I succeed to make you curious?  ;)
Sure it will be interesting how drivers will act relatively to checkpoint bonus points. Winning time will be higher than R1. So if drivers will want to catch more than 1 bonus points they will have to make a not easy calculation to avoid to push on right pedal too much...  ;)
What about NORH race? Only one critical point and not so hard like first 25" of R1. So the hope is R2 will see more NORH drivers on the track! Come on, show all your Stunts passion!  :)

Stunts Drivers Races / R1/2007 - Mastery
January 28, 2007, 04:07:32 PM

Well, not properly an easy track to begin the season...
Yes, first SDR track for 2007 is really suitable for a top drivers race. To reach a great result, in fact, drivers will have to show all mastery  8) in various specialty: control, best line, increasing speed by jumps, point of brake, hairpin, controlled skids, and others. Speed will be very high in almost two tracts of race, and this won?t simplify the things... not forgetting that drivers will have to solve a cryptic final too... (I wouldn't be between NORH drivers... ;))
Just a little help in the middle of all these severities: a very manageable car, the Porsche 962. But, remember, it's not a robot-car...  ;)

Stunts Drivers Races / SDR - 2007 Season: New Features!
January 09, 2007, 09:45:44 PM

Hi all!

After a pause of 2 months, the 1st February 2007 SDR re-open the doors to all Stunts drivers!  :)
As 2006 season, SDR will admit two official and distinct championships:

RH contest, that is: racing with Replay Handling, sending a replay of the race

NORH contest, that is: racing without Replay Handling, sending a video of the race (availing DOSBOX 0.65 features).

Rules Page will contain soon all informations to know how you can participate at your favourite contest.
Anyway, some new features characterize new season, impacting appreciably on trend of every race respect last season:

1) Finish date

All races will finish last Sunday of the month at 14:00:00 (GMT+1)
About Start date, as last season all races will start the 1st day of every month at 00:00:01 (GMT+1), except for R8 which will start the 2nd day of September 2007.

2) Race Points

Scoring has been reviewed. These are Race Points which will be assigned from 1st place to 10th place: 15 - 12 - 10 - 8 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1.

3) Bonus Points (Checkpoints)

Leading Time Bonus has been eliminated, but it will be possible to get Bonus Points leading the race in correspondence of specific checkpoints during the month, as indicated below.

In every race, 14:00:00 (GMT+1) of every Sunday will constitute a checkpoint. Excluding first Sunday of April, July and September (days where races will start) and excluding obviously last Sunday of every month (day where all races finish) this means there will be 3 checkpoints for every race.

In correspondence of 1st checkpoint, it will be assigned 1 bonus point for current leader

In correspondence of 2nd checkpoint, it will be assigned 1 bonus point for current leader. If current leader will be the same of 1st checkpoint he will get another bonus point only if his time at 2nd checkpoint is at least 3% lower than his time at 1st checkpoint (*).

In correspondence of 3rd checkpoint, it will be assigned 1 bonus point for current leader. If current leader will be the same of 2nd checkpoint it will be assigned bonus point only if his time at 3rd checkpoint is at least 3% lower than his time at 2nd checkpoint.

* For example: A driver is resulted first at 1st checkpoint with 1'10"85 and so he has got one bonus point. If he results first again at 2nd checkpoint, he gets another bonus points only if he has sent after 1st checkpoint a new replay lower than 1'08"72 (3% of 1'10"85 = 0'02"12), that is 1'08"70 or lower.

To identify the specific points of the track where drivers will have to pass to make a valid race, it will be modified the 3rd rule of General Rules, substituting the term ?checkpoints? with the term ?intermediates?. This should avoid all possible misunderstandings about new Bonus Points system.

4) Scoreboard update

Update of scoreboards will be weekly, just after every checkpoint (or the next day). This means every driver won't know the results of the opponents before every checkpoint and this vales for contest manager too. In fact, he will check all replays (with RPLINFO) and all videos just after every checkpoint.

OK, that?s all for the moment!  :)
Very soon SDR site will be temporarily unavailable. Beside to adapt pages at new rules, a light restyling will be applied to permit a faster and easier navigation.
And sure, ISM site will remain obviously available?  ;)

SWR and ISM / SWR changes!
December 18, 2006, 09:43:56 PM
SWR changes![/b]

Beginning from 1st January 2007 actual rank will be re-calculated after the introduction of 3 important changes:

1) New calculation system will be introduct to avoid that low or high rates of participation affect abnormally the rank.

2) SWR will be calculated considering only final results of races (listed in SWR page) finished in last 8 months. Update becomes monthly.

3) For every driver, score got will be integrated with additional points comparing 1) his result with results of other drivers which have participated with him at the same race, and 2) respective positions in current SWR.

A full description of new SWR criteria will be published next week in this topic and contextually in SWR News page.

SWR and ISM / ISM 2007 - Preview
December 16, 2006, 07:23:00 AM

What kind of contest will be ISM 2007?
Well, the event is born thinking to see in action the most expert and fast Stunts drivers in a contest quite difficult to permit them to express all their mastery but not so hard to erase from the race the real essence of the Game, that is fun. Anyway, the formule of the event (three tracks and total sum of each time of them to win), and the kind of tracks choosen (very different each other),
should elect the most complete Stunts driver, at least between participant, sure.

And now, a very short description of what drivers will find when they?ll start their engines:

Track A
Drive your Porsche 962 fastest as possible without stay on conventional track: this is the mission to accept if you want to put your wheels ahead your opponents. Pure tecnique at work?

Track B
Simple race = Easy win? OK. No shortcuts, no tricks. Only pure ability to drive your Jaguar XJR9 like a rocket through fast curves, chicanes and 2 jumps of a simple and short track. Fingers in action for a millisecond race...

Track C
Weird, strange, crazy: choose an adjective to describe the track where you'll drive your NSX Acura through all kinds of obstacles. Obviously, with a long, long Powergear not so easy to keep....

OK, it remains only to wait only few days to see a real passion in action?  :)

Stunts Drivers Races / R10/06 - Freedom
October 31, 2006, 12:36:31 PM
An Indy race again... No, SDR is not becoming a pure Indy contest. But next track, the last of the season, is born thinking a great Powergear and so the choice about the car has been pratically forced... Well, it's sure an original track, with 2 parts very different. In the first one drivers will have a lot of freedom, but they will have to control PG through a... very strange territory, maybe something that it's not never seen before in a Stunts race! But, sure, correct me if I'm wrong... After this unexplored tract, there is a forced abrupt deceleration (about from 245 MPH to 100 MPH) which introduces in the 2nd part of the race, a bit strange too, a part where driver must interpret the track finding the best line to follow avail the bank-roads located beside the raceway. And then the final, not particulary difficult but not very sleepy, above all for NORH drivers... Yes, NORH driver will have to express all their firm nerves to get the win, but... RH driver will have to put all their mastery and experience for the same target... Let's see! Start has fixed for Wednesday 1st November 2006 00:00:01

Stunts Drivers Races / NORH season 2006
October 31, 2006, 12:14:29 PM
Chulk conquers the 4th victory lunging on Mark L. Rivers!
Fourth victory by Chulk after 5 races: the argentinian champion leads deservedly the general classification showing race by race his talent for NORH races! Last attack of Mark L. Rivers finishes at 58", 0"15 from Chulk's time, after a session 40 minutes long. But if the italian driver had more time in the last day, it's all the same not sure he would succeed to catch the first place. It's anyway very interesting to see the analisys of the race to consider how the time of Chulk and Mark L. Rivers have been very similar for all the race. Now 10 points divide the leaders and only a little possibility remains to the italian to conquer the first official title of NORH Stunts champion: he must win last race getting all available additional points (7) leading the race for the long and continuos period and, above all, leading last 96 hours of race. Let's see! Meanwhile, first podium for CTG, we hope the first of a long serial! The hungarian ace catches in the last minutes his best position of the year and defeats the attack of SuperBrian (5th). Very good outset by Parano (fastest in 3rd section) which catches a 4th place in his first race! Sure we hope that his presence becomes a constant of NORH races! In general classification, Krys TOFF achieves Gutix (not raced) at 3rd place and the last race will be decisive for the lowest step of the final podium. Well, let's see what wonderful emotions this final will reserve us!

Stunts Drivers Races / RH Season 2006

CTG reduces again his gap: only 9 points from Gutix!
Only 9 points divide Gutix and CTG: this is the shocking response of penultimate race of the year! The hungarian champion (which has lowered again his time in last minutes with two very fast last sections) catches the victory and 5 bonus points leading the last 4 days of race, meanwhile the leader in general classification gets only a 4th place, thanks a result arrived in the last hours! So CTG (only 4th at 1st checkpoint) has passed from -24 to -9 (from -36 to -9 in last two races), overtaking Chulk (3rd)! Gutix (fastest 4th section) is defending his leadership with the fingernails, but  now last race will be really thrilling, with 3 drivers which can get the title: additional points will be decisive like never before! For the 4th place in the championship, AbuRaf70 (6th) reduces his gap from Krys TOFF (7th) but behind their shoulders Mark L. Rivers (2nd with two very fast first sections, but an awful 3rd section) is arriving swiftly, so great challenge in the last race! The arrival order is completed with Superbrian (5th), author of a very fast 3rd section (2nd behind CTG). And now, we are all ready for a big final show in the last race of the season!
