Competition 2021 / Re: ZCT245 - Amateur Hour

I kinda like that there's three cork up/downs for three different stunts.

Custom Cars with Stressed / Re: Shape ideas

Oh, nice.

I have used little wheels as headlights and an Audi logo before, but I don't think I've put any in the horizontal plane yet.

Put me in race B with Cas then. Odds are that one of us will be available.

LTB is a very enjoyable fight. Sometimes it is a duel and sometimes it's a 3 or 4 pipsqueaks fight. I think we should extend this "side game" to more positions.
For example every position has a value the closer to the 1st place the better. It should encourage pipsqueaks to keep the best position possible and not only the 1st place.

That... could actually work. Maybe like some kind of separate scoring systems that hands out like 10 "pole points" for each 24 hours in first place, 8 for each 24 hours in second place etc or something someting, and at the end of the season the leading time bonuses are distributed in one big swoop, either by dividing your total pole points by some big number and rounding the result down (or up, or just the regular way) or by giving the person with the highest number of pole points 12 LTB points, the next person 11 or whatever etc.

The biggest downside of this concept is that like anything I kind of like it's overly complex, which makes it hard to see what it does for you, and that makes it easy not to care.

I do like the idea of more motivation to race before the silent days though. I could use that.

Chat - Misc / Re: Funny dreams
November 23, 2021, 07:03:07 AM
So tonight I did a lot of dreaming. There were at least one or two long bits before the stuff I'm writing down, but they were not Stunts related. (Although there were a bunch of car chases, but they weren't filmed particularly well, more focused on getting a full family of fugitives into sports cars randomly sitting around than on the driving.)

Eventually those bits morphed into an honestly halfway decent movie (by dream standards at least) about a human looking alien fugitive stuck on Earth. Space pursuit had seemingly been called off exactly because there was no way off this planet anyway. So she turned away from her life of whatever she had been doing and tried to get as much out of the Earth experience as she could. I think the first "quest" was flying a plane, and there was quite a bit of sex too. Sex scenes in movies tend to annoy me quite a bit for breaking up the whole flow, and here I am dreaming them in.

But at some point she tracks down a guy who owns like two very special classic cars she wants to drive living in the middle of nowhere. The cars don't work, so the guy thinks she's looking to buy them, but with a quick alien tech look under the hood they start, and she asks for an hourly rate. As she gets hired to work there (and by the end of the season makes ten times what she was hired for, why is that detail there?) the movie turns into a montage of the place becoming a successful off road racing location with powerups hidden in the bushes and everything and lots of different cars and motorcycles. And the soundtrack under the montage is Stunts! And it's a pretty good montage too, first person view motorcycle jumps and everything.

So, I immediately want to tell you guys about this movie with Stunts music in it! I log onto the forums to post about it, but the dream twists it so that she's the one posting about it. We have an alien fugitive on the forum, apparently. The moment she posts she gets a sort of cryptic reply back. She's been found out. Turns out everyone she was working with was an undercover space cop, but they hadn't had confirmation of her identity until now. (And even this honestly was a pretty good scene. they're in a train in an underground station now I think for some reason, for that clean spy movie aesthetic.) So... she was an active member here during her days of space crime?

After this plot twist I try to post to the forums a second time, but now the movie player just crashes or something. (I think this is also the part where I tried to remember the title of the movie by repeating it out loud, yet as soon as I woke up I couldn't remember the actual title I had been repeating.) I think I got it started again eventually, but the alarm clock went off not much later. So here I am trying to post about this a third time.

For as slow as this forum is and as relatively little messages I have posted here, it sure takes up a central part in my brain.

Live Races / Re: Live Races 2022

Cool idea.

Unfortunately I don't know this far in advance if I'll be available, especially on the Monday dates, but I'll happily help design a track and advertise. Let's say... the July one? There are no "safe" options here...

You know what, I'd like 256. That's the part of the year where I can't oversee why I'll be super busy yet. ;D

Also, note to self, try to snipe 264 next season.  8)

Stunts Reverse Engineering / Re: Small steps
November 01, 2021, 04:45:45 PM
This is a bit (well, a lot) of a random thought, but it was inspired by watching a random Youtube video, so that's actually kind of appropriate. The video was about Trackmania, where a bunch of cheaters got caught and after that a competition patch was made which intercepts a bunch of known ways to cheat.

So... would it be possible to produce a version of or mode for Stunts where you can not use replay handling? And could that version be made in such a way that you can identify from a replay file that this version was used, and so that one cannot easily modify the replays or edit replay handling back into the game without alerting this version check?

I don't think there's anything wrong with the honor system for our little community, so I don't think we actually need this, it's more of a thought experiment...

Organize a mini tournament, 3 cars 3 tracks, call it the cop cup. ;)

Would be cool though, a top down racing-line viewer. Add the winning line to the map preview. ;)

Under the Zakpoints system I would have promoted around the end of 2011, my third season, with a total of 16 races participated in. I came second in the newbie league both times I was eligible = 2*2 = 4 points, I got a random second place overall in a kart race (5 points) in 2011 and comparing myself to the newbie league of 2011 there's one person in it that ranks above me on the regular board, so let's call that another 2 points.

That seems like a reasonable amount of time to stay an amateur.

Without the random kart race result it might become a much longer stretch of time for me because I was really inactive between 2011 and 2018, but at that point I start picking up enough 6th places and higher to probably deserve to be promoted anyway. And I definitely should not have been counted as an amateur in 2019.

Hmmm only a few tests but I think it was a combination of slow speed + luck.

I think that was it. The car height stat might have an influence on it, but that would be a bit of a breakthrough in Stunts physics research, as it was so far understood to be cosmetic in nature. (The physical model of a Stunts car is basically a square, with all 4 corners resting on the ground while not jumping. The car height sets the camera position to a certain height above that square.) Wheel size does not influence this behavior, the visual 3D model is entirely cosmetic.

Maybe the car width or length has something to do with it???

It is a really cool shot though.

Really, really cool.

Gutix's z109 is a 1st place.
That's a trippy scoreboard. In the overview of the year it says CTG won that month and Gutix was second. Then on the it says Gutix is first and CTG second, but both got 12 points because both got exactly the same corrected time. The trippy part however is that they do not have the same driven time, while they do use the same car. CTG was faster. What happened that race?

Quote from: Duplode on October 20, 2021, 03:52:09 AMThank you! In my books, though, I still need one more victory to reach this milestione, as I didnt't really win ZCT156.
Now that I'm asking anyway, what happened in that race?

Nice.
