Competition 2009 / Re: Updates and new stuff in 2009

There are also some quirks at "Sent Replays" pages - pre-2008 lists won't load, and 2009 stats aren't available.
But anyway: the graphical scoreboard is VERY cool!!  8)

Stunts Chat / Re: END OF A WONDER RIDE

This announcement has definitely struck me, Mark, and I'm still sort of at a loss for words... the name "Mark L. Rivers" will surely remain associated with a number of innovations on Stunts racing, as well as with the ever-present dashing enthusiasm. On a personal level, however, there is something beyond: I grown up as a pipsqueak by racing with, and then against, you. From marvelling at your times on my very first race down to our epic struggles at FTT, I always looked up and saw both a powerful pipsqueak and a gentleman, and it was a true honour to be able to relish in our peculiar rivalry. Now that you decided to, gracefully as usual, step away, I can only wish you fortune, and hope this won't be the last time we'll have our paths cross and cherish it in this very special place. And... just one more wish... if someday in the future there happens to be another Kalpen race, I'd really enjoy to, even if for the last time, be able to challenge you again... :)

Thank you!

Hi I'm back  ;) Cool little circuit - a genuinely easy one at last. Let's wait for the centisecond war...

If you like slow cars, then enjoy the slow LM002 because the 3rd track will be raced with Duplode's Skyline. But it will be only in 3 weeks, current race is for LM002. ;)

:) :) I'm pretty curious already :)

(Edit: oops, sorry - I thought sending a non-leading time wouldn't cause further disturbance on the scoreboard after Chulk's 0:00...)

Many things to take note of:

  • Great to see BJ winning! ;)
  • Having 21 pipsqueaks is wonderful too... :)
  • I can't believe neither me nor CTG had another replay to send in the quiet days ::)
  • Friker: no words... :o
  • SuperBrian v. Friker will become really interesting over the next few months  ;)
  • Satanziege's 8th place was pretty nice too, and Krys also did a nice job of rising above the rest of the midfield battle
  • And of course - Ayrton... ???

Overall: this was surely a significant race...

I usually like your animated gifs  :) BTW,

My previous avatar was in tribute to Larks' Tongues in Aspic, a hell of an intriguing piece of music... by now you know the pattern, so feel free to guess from where the current one comes from  ;)

Funny, 100% for C/Audi but no votes for it on the track topic - shows the tracks were evenly matched... (I voted for B, as it was more enjoyable than usual IMSA tracks are for me)

SWR and ISM / Re: International Stunts Master 2009

Congratulations to the Ayrton and the podiumers above me! This was tournament of very high standards, indeed. I only wish I would be able to race harder during the last week and give CTG a tighter run for third place, but anyway... proceeding to watch the replays now  ;)

Alongside with the usual string of praises for the tournament which by now is pretty much established as Stunts' "World Cup", I'd like to add the new LTB system is a pretty good solution for the issues LTB is designed to act on: it induces top drivers to uncover their cards progressively through the race, thus assuring steady activity, while keeping the early stages of leading battles extremely open to all pipsqueaks and, at the same time, retains considerable margin for tactical games... prospective managers should take note of that innovation  ;)

Edit: I moved my post to the more appropriate "Formula" topic. The tournament remains great, of course  :)

Answering to CTG's suggestion: let's save natural resources by site design!  ;D

Or, if you're not that environment-conscious, you might prefer something more lively...

I expected Duplode to be below 1 min too, maybe he was too busy with ISM...

I expected that as well... :-\ In the end, I could have only two racing sessions. The first one lasted about 15 minutes, during which I made that 1:00.25. Then I only got to race again on Saturday, spending about one hour trying to make a really fast run through the first half of the track, but had no luck, regardless of whether my aborted lap looked like a potential 57.xx, 55.xx or even 52.xx (once). I though I might be able to get a third run, but was unable to - and even that wouldn't suffice, since I had no connection during most of Saturday night and Sunday...

Anyway, congratulations to Mark (55.xx is a strong enough time for all valid purposes IMO) and Chulk (crashing at the pipe, ouch...) ! ;)

If you thought scoreboards couldn't get more messed up than on T405, though, you're mistaken: there was not even a single legal replay submission this time!

1º Daniel DUPLODE - 1:51.15 - +10
(2º Rudah FLASH DRIVER - 1:58.90 - +8)
3º Krys TOFF - 2:06.35 - +6
4º Mark L. Rivers - 2:31.05 - +5

I had forgotten to send my .HIG with the lap (just regularized it); all other times were late submissions (at least it didn't influence the results...). Rudah's time is bracketed because his .HIG somehow vanished just after the lap (he sent a .TRK file out of reflex and didn't notice it originally...) - Igor still has to confirm the decision about his result. And not only my victory was unexpected, Felipe's absence (possibly due to holidays) also means I, quite undeservedly IMO, snatched the overall 2nd place from him... ::) Gap is only three points though, so there may be a nice battle over the two final races...!

Round 7 is, of course, already on - Carrera is the machine for this race. Deadline was set to February 9th, so we can return to bi-weekly scheduling. Igor also posted on Orkut apologizing for the scheduling issues of late - he's having some personal issues that may see him returning from the U.S (he's currently based there) to Brazil over the following weeks. If that happens, results publishing for Round 7 will likely be delayed. He will warn us in case that happens.

Prediction game: who will reach 1000 posts earlier? Mark (859) or Duplode (830)? :D

So I ended up "losing" this "race" (in spite of monthly trends suggesting otherwise), but at least it's not too late to congratulate him for his landmark "score"! ;)
