Permanent Competition / New Default closed record!
November 16, 2003, 02:40:30 PM
Ok play time is over racing kids :)
I have abstained to race the permanent competitions for a while but today I thought I would spend some minutes on default closed:

Result:Place 1 on the scoreboard beating Alain's former record by a LARGE amount of time :).You could say his time got totally destructed.Yet it looks like he was racing in a car with 100 PS LESS!

I hope the board will be updated soon.
Now those leaders of the other tracks can be happy until I race them one by one :)

Stunts Chat / Live racing guide -hints-
November 11, 2003, 12:52:05 AM
Well let me try to start a constructive topic ;)

Some may wonder how drivers like me or Bonzai Joe are that fast in live racing.

I will try to give away some of my 'tricks' in order to help others to catch up.Maybe they are usefull

1)Before you start racing take a close look at the editor and try to remember all important curves and unrisky shortcut possibilities!
That's crucial or else a corner will surprise you behind a hill forcing you to restart and you will thus lose a lot of crucial time!

2)If you are driving on an unkown track which is not to easy you might crash a lot on your first round! And if you drive on after you crashed after 15 seconds and then you crash after 30 and so on you will proly lole 8 of your 10 minutes before you get a feeling how to drive the track w/o crashing!Instead it might be a good idea to just use RH to finish your first lap EVEN if you crash several times!
Now before I hear people yelling CHEATER! let me say that you should not send in that time! You just do it to get a feeling for the track!
Once you got that feeling take the remaining time to drive for real!

3)a)Driving style: Rather break early than break to late that way u won't lose to much time in the curves. Also ALWAYS follow the easy outer to inner curve rule.

b)I am preffering a different style of driving in live races,by tapping the forward and right/left key a lot more than you would usually do in a RH race the car won't leave skid away out of a curve that easily and you will be able to drive the curves faster w/o high risk.

That's all for now hope it might help one or another ;)

I bet you have heard or even seen those situations in real life.
Some women is being robbed while a lot of people just walk by 'not wanting to get involved'. Maybe that was some sort of 'play' is a general excuse often heard.

Of course that is an extreme example.Let's use another:
2 of your friends are having an argument and it's pretty clear that one of them shares 90% of the fault while the other is merely reacting.
What are 'general' reactions in the modern society.

A)You say 'Stop arguing/fighting' implying that every 'fight is a 50/50 fault issue. And while saying that you might realize you don't really have any idea what happened.Well, you don't want to get involved!

B)You don't say anything at all, because you don't want to get involved and act as if nothing had happened.

C)You remember person A once joined into an argument you had with peron P where you were obviously wrong and P was right. Now you remember A supported P saying YOU are wrong. Now there is an argument between A and B and you know B has the 'main' fault.
What do you think?GREAT! Now I can have revenge against person A by supporting person B although I know person A is the victime here.

D)Point D) is an increase of point A) Here, you behave like in A) but also voice your your displeasment with the ongoing argument. You do that by comments like 'Oh my kids, stop it''Yawn' and the like.
Here,I can only say: If you don't want to get involved, then stay out of it completly, your oh my kids, stop it comments aren't going to help anyone, especially not the person being unfairly attacked.

E)You have a bit more courage than those person who did chose the alternatives A-D and mention that both persons are probably responsible because they are answering but also state that the person with the main fault is person B.
And now we got E1) and E2)
E1)you support person A by dissing person B
E)You are kindly trying to help person B change his/her ways by making it clear to him he is being on the wrong end here without dissing him/her!

Now back to society [And this also counts for internet societies]
There are far to many persons of type A-D there and while B might be acceptable in some occasions.(If you have to stay neutral at any prize) Positions A and especially C and D are not acceptable at all.
So if you think in real life, the interenet,or wherever, that you have often behaved in ways A,C or D I would suggest you should overthink your attitude.

And yes,I did not mention any names here because 1: if I did those people would never learn as they would felt 'attacked' (and that was not the aim of this post) and 2:Those who read this should realize into which category they belong.

Did you ever wonder why Barichello would let Schumacher win in formula 1? Because Schu is fighting for the championship, right!

Now here is the 'Orion' story.

It was around 20.45 when i drove a kickass time, which was a lot better than my previous replay (1.14.75) .As i had not received a mail from Alain yet I was joining the chat to find out his time.He said 1.13.25. (or 1.10 he was very uncertain there)

I thought I would let him win as I am basically not fighting for any important. But as my 1.14.75 appeared to be a bit slow I needed an excuse to be closer to him (If I give him the victory I don't want to lose by a big margine so I said something the mail would not work or I accidently overwrote my 1.12 or some similar bullshit.

But well Alain was getting all cocky and unfair because he thought 'he would have won' and threated me like shit.

At the beginning I thought I would not tell anyone as it would surely look better for the team if he just wins and i am just 'second'.
But after all his cocky 'shittalk' I decided to reveal my 'real' replay to the public!

You can take a look at it as it is included as 'the replay of the month' in the z32.zip now.

And please remember that :
1)It is a totally different trick from alain's so I did not just watch his replay and copy it
2)I drove it close to deadline and thus it made no sense to share it with my team.

So much for teamwork. You get shittalked but 0,0 thanks.

EDIT: Another reason to reveal the truth was because alain wanted to kick me out of the team......he said so several time in the chatroom :)

Stunts Chat / Live racing evaluation

First,Second,worse
Argammon    7,0,0
Alanrotoi       4,0,1
Bonzai          3,3,0
Akoss           4,2,5
Satanziege    1,0,0
Zak              3,1,11
Krys             0,3,4
Mingva          0,0,2
Alain             0,0,3

Second places in 1vs1 duels have been counted as 'worse than second' to make it a bit more even.

I think the numbers speak for themselves.
I have tried to put the drivers into an order with the best skill at the top and the worst of all -ALAIN OF COURSE!- at the bottom.
Satanziege was hard to judge as he only raced 1 race against the worst driver on the scoreboard: ALAIN.

-Of course the list only counts if we exclude the possibility of cheating :)-

Awaiting flames ;)

Chat - Misc / Alain's worldranklist
September 08, 2003, 02:39:09 PM
Take a look at stuntsrus (link at zak's page) before voting.
Now after examining I am highest of all active pipsqueaks but the fact ppl with 1 or 2 pipsqueaks are at the top and ppl like alain, alan or bj are so low seems to implicate the system is flawed!

Sorry Alain but it is completly bogus!
I don't know what system you used, but it shurely was a bad one!
It's crazy that a guy with only 1!!! race is on 2nd position!!!

I guess someone would need at least 10 races to make the list and another point is that the difficulty of competitions various -a lot-
Think the whole thing over.

Competition 2003 / ZCT30 - Volcano Islands
September 08, 2003, 10:31:45 AM
First of all it's a beautifull track as I like tracks with nice scenery and atmosphere.
It seems to be quiet long and hard to race also.

A winning time guess seems to be very hard for me at the time being but I will give a rough guess:
1.25.05 ;)

Now we got the question which driver this track suits well.?

Competition 2003 / Idea: Retro tracks in competition!
September 02, 2003, 06:06:22 PM
I would love not only to see new tracks in the next few month but also old tracks of the years 2001 and 2002!

First of all most pipsqueaks here never raced them and more important it would be interesting to see how those past winners times would be compared to the times if we would drive again.
Of course we would have the advantage to be able to see the winning replays but IMO that would make it more interesting:
Everyone would have a goal to aim at and maybe that past winner would barely make 10th place now ;)

What do you think?

Competition 2003 / Shorcut question
September 02, 2003, 05:11:51 PM
I just asked myself what would happen if anyone would send in a replay
featuring a lot of shortcuts.
As far as I heard Zak usually watches the replays he receives and I think the fact he is watching them influences his own attempts of finding shortcuts even if he does not try to do so!
I know he's not driving for real in his own competition but sooner or later Zak's attempts which might (not on purpose) include very similar shortcuts which he saw earlier in replays, will end up in the hand of Bonzai Joe who won't have a problem to finish those.

I will say again that I don't think they are intentionally cheating but that I wonder if there couldn't be a problem by 'seeing replays' if you are driving yourself. On an unconcious level.

No offense intended and I hope you understand me......

Month`s Tracks - Kalpens / Copycats
September 01, 2003, 10:43:57 AM
Imagine the following situation:
You take a nice 30 minutes on a rainy afternoon to give an old game a shot you have not for several month.
The result is obvious:
After several crashes and a car moving snake lines around the road you eventually finish the first 'boring' part of the track while of course losing a lot of time there.
Thinking 'ah well I gave it a shot' you start driving the track and with some luck you manage to do 1 shortcut after another making the overall time decent.Of course it does still not make up for the lost time due to the fact it's just 'a try' and not an optimized time.

What would happen next?
Ah well there are officially no teams at kalpens but since you received some fake times from your fellow teammate placed 1th on zakstunts you decide to send your replay to your teammates to show them your shortcuts.Maybe they will win if they find time and motivation to optimize their time using the same way.

After staying up next morning you would eventually check your e-mails:

BANG! There's an e-mail from 1.09.03 somewhere around 1.33 am from a fellow teammate. What might that be?
I mean the contest is already over!?!?,or is it not?
Checking the e-mail the solution is simple. It's a great time driven by super duper teammate Alain.
First thought:Wow with that time he might have won,Great!
Second thought:Ah well he could have send this time around before the contest was over like I did.

Of course you would curiously want to take a look at the great winning replay just received from your teammate.
Expectations are rising! What shortcuts might he have found?

Watching the replay you bite your teeth into the table.HARDER! HARDER!
The replay you are watching is an exact copy of your replay with the only difference the other driver obviously took some time to avoid driving snake lines.Yes,he optimized the replay taking the same way and thus copying your replay.

First thought: Um ugh why didn't he send his replay around before the competition was over if he decided to copy your replay? You quickly figure out this would be obnoxious ;) and unfair behaviour. Not that you would have driven again if you had received his replay. But just the fact he copied your replay would somehow give you the right to watch his before the competition is over. And then again he didn't know you had no intentions to drive anymore.

Second thought:
Thinking about this rude action you are brainstorming your mind. What to do?
Go to the message board and start a flamatory post yelling at your teammate because of his obnoxious behaviour?
Ok flaming is fun and maybe it helps to release some steam but then again there's already to much flaming and nonesense on the forum.

While thinking a bit farther you get a third thought:
You would write a small(ok not THAT small) funny story around it to convey your views to your teammate. That way he would know what he did wrong and all the others might have fun reading.........
