Because there are lots of Civilization fans between the pipsqueaks, lets organize a battle!

We should use freeciv
http://www.freeciv.org
because it uses the same rules as civ2, but is created with net-play in mind, there are several servers online, and turns are simultaneous.

please reply here if you want to join, it'd be great with 5-6 of us, and then we can set up a date when we can play.

oh, and there is a good faq how to set up freeciv under windows:

under linux its a simple ./configure;make;make install :)

OK here I'll always list the new functions implemented.

you can always access the site at
http://stunts.mine.nu/zakstunts/2005 while under development, whenseason 2005 starts it'll be the default page of course.
Beware, this is a development snapshot, I also test on this one, if its working and then not working in the next minute that means I'm coding right at the moment :)

so until now:

-Lots of background, php engine improvements, I'll spare explaining them.
-site-wide login, you only have to do it once after you arrive. (known: bug after login you have to press a menuitem to be fully logged in)
-You can register for the 2005 season
-You can post news
-You can change your desired resolution (effect: newsbar visible or not on the right side) settings are saved of course and used the next time too when you log in.


next jobs:
- latest replays announcement (either in newsbar or welcome page if in 800x600)
- profile editing
- image upload/replay sending

I'll write here if anything is finihsed and you can use it.
Please do some testing for me, and report bugs make my job easier.

Do we want it or not? Lately I have SOME motivation to do a redesign. The menu sructure is near perfect now in my opinion, I'd put up some new graphs, and improve the news posting system a bit. but i'll have exams soon and have to make the 2005 engine anyway, so it's not sure this project will start in the near future, but strangely sometimes I feel I'd like to work with it a bit :)

Great news!

My Internet Provider will double our connection speed free of charge!

So it'll be 1024/256kbps

thats 128kbyte/sec downstream
and 32kbyte/sec upstream

and probably a bit more in surplus...

hope that will be finally enough for the site, even with downloads :)

I was quite satisfied with the 2004 point system altough I want to do some modifications. Please comment and discuss the options and possibilities here.



The current plans:
(bold means its fix)

the top 12 gets points
point system: 12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1
two worst results doesnt count in season
LTB +2/+1 as this year
TDB no longer given, maybe something more motivating to send a time instead
12 tracks in the season, each lasts one month
max 4 pipsqueaks/team
team scoring exactly the same as this year

Audi, Countach, Carrera is not an option because they were used close to ZCT46. Indy is altough an option, because many love that car and its kinda special compared to the others.

Hi

I fell down some stairs with my bike, my chin has riven, several bruises all over my body, left arm broken (fixed for 4 weeks), an the middle finger on my right hand has broken too.
Its quite hard to use the computer this way, so updates will be a bit rare,and the next track might also be late for a while

sorry guys, i will be more careful next time, i was fortunate, it could have been much worse

well i still get monthly 3-5 letters asking for the stunts security codes, even though there is the faq and the forum :)
its quite annoying sometimes, but sometimes I get geat letters too when I dont mind at at all.

After searching the internet for many hours after downloading the AWESOME

Well I've  had enough of my hurting hanfds after typing a lot, so I have looked around a bit and bought a quality keyboard.
It wasnt cheap, about 16EUR, but definitely worth the price!
It's a KeyTronic KT800, their base model, oldschool design, no stupid multimedia or power buttons  (i love it),very ergonomic, my fingers slide to the center of the keys automatically, and they need just the ideal force to be pressed.
Not sticky, not too light, just feels great.
I have tested about 10 keyboards by far, and this beats every one of them including microsoft and logitech ones. There was only one better, the pro serie from fujitsu siemens which we use in the school. But it's twice the price of this one, and this was expensive enough.
It not only enhanced my typing speed and reduced the number of my mistakes but I can also play stunts better, have quicker reactions and movements.
I definitely recommend everyone getting a good keyboard, your hands deserve it!

As you maybe noticed from the lots of downtime, I was working hard with a friend of mine to install the new server and especially the software on it.
In the past 3 days we managed to achieve a  stable level, so I could migrate to site to the new server.
Some technical and update info for you:

Hardware+SW
Gigabyte GA586DX dual Pentium mainboard ATX form
2 times Intel Pentium 166Mhz processors
2x64+2x8MB Kingston EDO ram
1.6GB + 1GB hard disks (about 1.5GB for the site)
unfortunately bandwith stayed: 12k/sec :( maybe it'll be 18k/sec soon but I cant get more than that. :(
-server supplied by eBalazs :)
SW: UHU-Linux (based on Debian) Server edition 1.0RC3 with SMP multiprocessor kernel
--installation and configuration support by mrmaim :)
Errors corrected, new things:

-finally you dont need a / at the end of URL's to make them work
-mail system is fully configured, no tons of error messages
-server load is about 1/3 of the one before -->still slow copnnection but very stable
-eggdrop installed, please welcome our new bot: Skid. I'll kick out Helen after one week testing of Skid (he logs and he sits there, and doesnt whine at all, so its fine :)
-mailman mailing list server configured (only 1 bug left :() this means when I find that bug I can host a mailing list for every team, and so there'll be an option that if you send your replay, it'll be posted to your team mailinglist too.
-you can ask for ssh/ftp access for the server, I can grant about 50MB of webspace for every of you. soon you can get a stunts.mine.nu mail address too :)

about thats it. I think this new server will supply a stable base for iproving the site in the following months, years :)
you might experience more downtimes as usual, because I'm not sure some configs are written well. If you experience any problems please tell me.

Ahoi pipsqueaks of past, present and future!

Tomorrow will be the 3rd year jubilee of ZakStunts online.
I was 19 then, and now I'm 22. Time flies :)
I'd like to thank to everyone who sent a single replay to the competition, and of course deepest respects to everyone who stay with us for a longer period.
I'd like to add a nice new feature to the site for the jubilee, a ZakStunts history. I'll collect all the dates of important events, like 2001 mar 01 - ZakStunts started, or 2001 mar 31 - Fdzierva won ZCT01, etc etc.
Please collect such important dates you remember, team foundations, team broke-ups, new pipsqueaks joining, wins, new rule, big flamewars, improvements - anything you remember or find in the forum archive.
Then I'll put these in a database, and on the startpage below the news you can see for example: Happened today: "3 years ago ZCT01 was released to the public"

well the mainstream is today ringtones and operator logos, so here you are :)

I arrived home at 3am yesterday, and at 9am the postman woke me up with the doorbell.
But I wasnt angry.
Why?
Because he finally brought me my KVM (Keyboard-Video-Mouse) switch!
And during the daytime I managed to get a Pentium 100 config from one of my friends for free.
I'm just installing the system on it.
What does this mean?
No more pain with rebooting or windows XP slow emulation!
I press a button on my switch, and my keyboard+monitor change to the Stunts-Machine with windows98.
So I can finally race whenever I want without any pain :)
