There's also a track similar to hard driving in this thread. https://forum.stunts.hu/index.php?topic=3956.15

I took a stab at recreating the hard driving/race driving track 1 a few years ago.  It did come out looking pretty different due to the differences between the games but it was fun to try and approximate it.

I attached it to a forum post here. Let me know what you think:

Of course the buildings look different, and you won't have opposing traffic on the road etc. But I am somewhat interested about the level of similarity between this category of polygon driving simulator games.

It's impossible to make even close recreations of the Race Drivin' tracks in Stunts because of the issues you described, but also because while the stunt elements are similar in execution, they are visually quite different.

You may be interested to know that the version of Default that appears in Skid Marks (the working title of Stunts before it was released) is even more reminiscent of Hard Drivin' than the final version.  Apart from that, I made a track called Hard Drivin' a few years ago that was inspired by the Atari game, but certainly wasn't a recreation.

Has anybody already made remakes of the Atari "Race Drivin" race tracks for Stunts?

It would be interesting to try to make remakes of these 3 tracks to learn to use editors. But a zillion of Stunts custom tracks already exist, and I am not keen to examine all of them just to discover that they already exist anyway. Or is this technically impossible? Particularly the "Super Stunts Track" contains a high mountain with narrow serpentine road, and below it a tunnel tube with obstacle passing through underneath, so it needs to support at least 2 overleaping roads on different heights. The Race Drivin roads also may contains turns in non-right-angled directions, which may contradict the way "Stunts" and "Test Drive 3" compose their maps on a raster of square parts. I expect that a remake would have more the roller coaster look of the Megadrive version if it can not draw the mountain walls of "Super Stunt Track". Even the world model on the actual arcade machine seems to cheat where the serpentine crosses the tunnel, because turning right to drive offroad on that mountain makes the car float in the air (like on invisible ground) until the offroad timer runs out to put it back on the track.

Ba the way, the Default track of Stunts version 1.1 alludes to the "Hard Drivin" original track in some spots. E.g. the red barn exists, and at the left side before the finish line it has a ship without water where Hard Drivin has a train without rails. Also "Test Drive 3" contains some props obviously citing Hard Drivin.
