Title: ZCT286 - One of These Days
Post by: Erik Barros on May 06, 2025, 04:08:08 AM
The name of this track comes from a Pink Floyd (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48PJGVf4xqk) classic, only one sentence is said in this song "One of these days I'm going to cut you into little pieces", which reminds me of the definition of checkpoints. I hope everyone one day cuts this track into little pieces of checkpoints.

There is an Easter egg in the terrain.

Hahaha what a twist in the title! I didn't expect it :D
Searching for the easter egg but still nothing. I'll keep looking!

I'm looking too and I can see there's some kind of pattern, but can't tell what it is yet!

I was editing the terrain and ended up making it part of the state (São Paulo - Brazil (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A3o_Paulo_(state))) I live in, I ended up liking the idea and incorporated it into the design. Pixel art is not my specialty but that was my intention. I marked in red the region where I live, approximately. I hope you enjoyed and had fun on this track.

The part of the track doesn't look like the state São Paulo. Different shape.

Very nice idea, I like this sort of "Made in Brazil" label :)

Quote from: Argammon (ZakStunts shoutbox, 2025-06-01)After watching the replays, I must admit that I got lucky. Compared to my lap, @MiDiaN and @Duplode did not find the most efficient route over the grass in the beginning and missed the slide jump onto the high corner. Kudos guys, you were undoubtfully faster than me on the road.

I think I'd analyse it a little differently. The shorter shortcut at the beginning (taking advantage of the split for a three-element cut) was effective with the Camaro, but not so much with the Mercedes, for which the cost in speed would be quite big. As for the bridge slide, it feels like pulling it off with the Mercedes would be a lot harder than with the Camaro (which I guess was no walk in the park either!); furthermore, there's a decent chance controlling the slide would require sacrificing speed through the second bridge corner. That being so, I'd say the Mercedes was ahead of the Camaro on a more conventional line, and that @Argammon found ways to make up for the difference and ultimately drive us from the top spot.

@KyLiE tried my Camaro line with the Mercedes but concluded it wouldn't be worth it which supports your analysis. I also felt that the Mercedes was a little bit ahead of the Camaro on this track. However, I thought that I would lose about a second compared to the other top drivers given we spend the same amount of effort. The car feels too much like an IMSA car for my liking though the originals are worse. In their case I would have written 3-4 seconds instead. ;D Hence, I thought my best bet would be to use the Camaro which suits me much better in comparison.
